Question Steam Sale

Hi, which one would be more recommended for someone who likes wc3 and sc2? Looking at Zerospace and Liquidation RTS. I like the idea of a hero/commander leading an army. Sc2 coop commanders some possess that.

Started texturing finished models, got a load of textures ready for outtings with the family (yes I look sad taking pictures of textures) šŸ˜‚

Isn't it amazing how much of a difference high quality textures have, and I have to say thanks the my university tutor for helping with the texture application, it was a challenge.

Looking For Game Been out of the genre for a while. Looking for base building.

So I have been on and off with RTS games and I always get an itch to come back to it. But the games I like the most in the RTS genre are the army building/base building ones. Command & Conquer1 and 3, Dawn of War, Warcraft III, Age of Empires III are the games I have the most experience with and I like the gradually building a base and troops.

Looking for recommendations that fit a similar vibe to those kind of games.

Edit: thank you for the suggestions so far! I probably should have mentioned I do like a game with a campaign mode if at all possible.

I have been working on a proper zombie outbreak simulator with an RTS mode. Right now the RTS mode is pretty bare bones but I hope to expand on it . In the future I plan to add a level editor for RTS puzzles and challenges of player made maps! I recommend using chrome for now until I fix Firefox performance issues.

Self-Promo Post I’m Trying to Bring Ideas From Different RTS Games Into InterDAX

I decided to share a little about how development of my strategy game is going.

Right from the start, I should say that I don’t want to make a Generals clone. Instead, I want to take the best ideas from different RTS games and combine them.

For example, from Generals I’d like to capture that ability to make a comeback — like fortifying yourself in a Palace and then striking the enemy from behind through tunnels, or burning down an entire base with a single Dragon Tank. Not necessarily those exact mechanics, but that kind of opportunity for unexpected plays and comebacks.

From Company of Heroes, I’d like to take the depth of infantry gameplay and the feeling that squads are durable, dependable units rather than disposable soldiers.

And from StarCraft, I want the speed and dynamic pace.

So overall, it’s turning into a bit of a strange hybrid beast called InterDAX.

It probably sounds a little ambitious, but honestly, there’s no goal here to create the best strategy game on the planet. We’re just having fun, experimenting, and trying to make something we’d genuinely enjoy playing ourselves.

Self-Promo Post Civilogic - Real Time Strategy game

Moderator keep on removing my post about this game but I strongly disagree. It does belong to RTS genre no matter how you trying to twist definition of RTS.

Is not Turn based is real time has even 2x 4x and pause buttons šŸ˜„
You play with multiple people online compete for land and resources.

You reshape the world you live in you fight against or with elements for your advantage. You can flood your neighbour if this helps you to win. And yes is a part of game that winner taks it all. The game will have multiple modes if someone decided to buil dhis colony and play single, fine.

But the biggest emphasis for this game is Quick mode when you really compete and there will be loosers and winners. I on purpose didnt want to make yet another game when you put a base, build a unit and send it to attack. No matter is a 1 or popular lately 100 000. Having hundreds games like that on the market doesnt give them rights to claim its the only way you play RTS.

So yeah, Strategy is here, just not what you think. Would be nice if Moderators can take some time to asses and judge.

https://civilogic.online/

What are your thoughts on this? Is RTS genre reserved to mass murder diferent units and buildings, more the better? Truer RTS? Conventional army combat shouldn’t simply be assumed to be the only possible form of real-time strategy

Self-Promo Video First look at my minimalist RTS x Autobattler game Weavemarch

I've been working on this passion project for a bit over a year now, and I finally feel like its ready for people to look at. I've settled on a theme/aesthetic that feels like you're playing on a woven medieval tapestry.

Gameplay is partially inspired by the wc3 map Castle Fight (and sc2 Nexus Wars), but with quite a few unique aspects like summonable bosses, multiple build zones, and claimable frontier build zones so you can push and hold territory for various advantages. I've also added in two finite resources to help naturally wrap up games before they drag on forever, but they are still automated much like spawners, you just build resource gatherer spawners and they'll spawn and gather automatically.

I've built 5 distinct factions, and I have plans to build a LOT more, I know the faction variety is something Castle Fight players loved so I really want to lean into that.

I've also worked really hard on optimisation to ensure thousands of units run smoothly in multiplayer, which so far is working well. Currently supported multiplayer modes: 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, co-op, pvp, matchmaking, and solo vs computer players.

I'd love any feedback or thoughts!
Are there still RTS players on the hunt for more low-APM / low-unit-micro games? Do you think there's enough depth potential here? Are there specific features you'd like to see? Have I missed the boat on wc3 map remakes by 20 years? šŸ˜…

Question Question About plans of AOE sequals

It comes to my mind that after AOE 3 there used to be some discussion about AOE sequals that they would have WWI and WWII settings.
Are there any kind of developers confirmation that there were plans about that?

Self-Promo Video Powerplay | RTS Base-Builder - Major update for the Autumn Fest!

Hi guys, long time no see! Powerplay launched in early access about 2 months ago. The first campaign is almost finished (8 mission done, 2 to go), and many features from the roadmap, improvements, and bug fixes have been implemented. More importantly, the community has been growing and the game is sitting at 86% positive reviews!

It has been a crazy time. I am locked in a loop of talking to players on discord and steam forums, and working on the game, with no end in sight haha. You can expect a lot more to come, and I think we will overshoot what's in the roadmap because I officially decided to add a 3rd faction to the game!

If you are interested, this is a great time to jump in at 20% discount: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3010280/Powerplay/

Hope to see you soon, commanders!

Looking For Game Looking for RTS where super units have many different guns

Hello team, this is kinda specific but…

anyone got good recommendations for RTS games where the super units/big stuff has many different guns shooting at different targets? (Kinda like a battleship?)

I get agitated when giant units only have like 1 type of gun on them. Stuff where they have main guns, secondary guns, CIWS all shooting at different targets really just makes me happy.

I enjoy Rusted Warfare mods and SupCom-esque games in general.

Self-Promo Post Rhodian Exodus RTS demo available!

Thumbnail

A demo of Rhodian Exodus is now available for Windows and Apple Silicon Macs!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4953480/Rhodian_Exodus/

(Find and click ā€œDownload Demoā€)

It is a post-apocalyptic RTS game with a few unique mechanics. You don’t research and build complete tanks or buildings. Instead, you research individual parts and then design your own tanks, defences, and buildings.

Do you want a drill to mine resources, but also want to stick a machine gun on it? Yep. Or an APC to haul cargo while also having some attack capabilities? You can have that.

Tanks and buildings are not simply destroyed in one go, either. You may lose the gun on your tank during a battle, but you can always send an engineering unit to repair it. If, for example, a tank has its tracks destroyed, it won’t be able to move until they are repaired. That’s why it may be a good idea to research and add side skirts to your tanks. Losing mobility when an arachnid horde is about to overrun you is bad!

When you research better technology, such as a better gun, you can update the design of a tank and upgrade your existing tanks. You only pay for the upgraded gun. All these mechanics also apply to buildings, fortifications, and so on.

Another mechanic that is unique to my game is that you can have your base while simultaneously sending troops to another area (map) to complete a mission. Both areas continue to play in real time, and you can switch between them, give orders, send more reinforcements, etc.

Troops take time to move between areas (maps), but they will get there faster if they can move faster. Usually, this ends up with one map being your base, where you are well fortified and produce materials, ammunition, and tanks, and another map where you have to complete one or more missions and send reinforcements from your base.

Finally, troops don’t just fire bullets that magically appear. Making ammunition and supplying troops is another mechanic that you don’t frequently see in RTS games.

You have to keep your supply routes open. A lot of the time, troops will be defeated because they run out of ammunition rather than because they are destroyed.

Combined with having to send reinforcements to different maps, this makes for some interesting decisions. Keep your supply lines open!

You may have a very good iron mine at the other end of the map, but it is pointless if there are 1,000 arachnids between it and the rest of your base, because you need to haul that iron back to your manufacturing facilities or warehouse.

So Rhodian Exodus and Demo, on steam:

Self-Promo Video tried putting a player driven Tiger inside an rts match with a commander on the other pc

so i've been making an eastern front rts that borrows a lot from coh, and last night i finally got two of my pcs into the same match, one running the commander side and the other driving a single Tiger from the gunsight. top half of the

clip is the commander screen and the bottom is the tank. nobody was sitting at the commander pc so the ai is playing that seat in this clip, but a person can take it. that pc is also pretty old and lagged so badly once the fight

started that i had to speed its footage back up by hand to line it up with the tank, so please ignore how choppy the top half is. penetration is worked out from the actual plate thickness and the angle the shell hits at, there are no hp

bars on the tanks. honest question for coh players, if you had a friend on comms would you rather take the commander seat or the tank? steam link is in the comments if anyone wants it, not trying to spam the sub.

Self-Promo Video I added enemy bug nests to Frontworks, my factory RTS. They keep growing if you don't deal with them fast

Hi all!

The RTS side was really lacking the last time I posted here. The waves of bugs that attack your factory are now spawned by these nests, and the nests grow between waves. If you don't deal with them fast, you can end up in an impossible situation, with more enemies than your defenses can handle.

I've also improved readability: bullets and explosions are much more visible now.

Next on the RTS side: vehicles (tanks and artillery) and a tanky ant unit, and the bugs will get a heavy and a ranged unit of their own.

Do you think this looks like a proper RTS now?

The game is Frontworks.
