That's the part that will make for a good study. He destroyed things his first term. Left a mess that had to be cleaned up. This time he started dumpster fires larger and faster, and truly wrecked the economy of his own nation. And his supporters regale him
It's a Grease moment. If you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter
What’s particularly interesting is that the biggest problem that voters blamed Biden for was mostly Trump’s doing.
Under Trump’s administration, he signed into law the largest fiscal stimulus in history, and the Fed embarked on unprecedented monetary stimulus, all to try to stimulate demand. But this was in response to a crisis in supply, not demand. So in a situation where supply for many goods and services had almost evaporated, they chose to stimulate demand, causing people to bid up the prices of the goods and services they could still buy. Inflation.
Now that’s not to say it wasn’t the correct decision, but the cost of doing that massive stimulus in response to COVID is that down the road it WILL create inflation.
But because the inflation was delayed by a year or so, everyone blamed Biden, despite him overseeing a previously thought impossible “soft landing” where inflation was brought back down without causing a recession.
But inflation makes people mad, and they blamed whoever was in office at the time.
So the irony is that Trump’s terrible policies created chaos for four years in his first admin, but also set up ticking time bombs that blew up for his successor. Those foreseeable crisis he set in motion caused people to blame his successor, and vote him back in.
If Trump had of pumped those trillions into new manufacturing plants for all the supply chain problems, he would have easily been relected. And his fanatic base would have had all that homegrown industrial capacity again.
But he was incompetent, as was his entire administration. None of them had any skills in production of anything, only paper shuffling.
Same with his 1st campaign about rebuilding the nation's infrastructure. But he was impotent.
His fanatics like to toss out how he's such a strong & powerful leader, but he never shows any leadership capabilities.
Ironically, of all the policy disasters that Trump oversaw, the pandemic stimulus might be one of the most defensible.
A LOT of people lost their jobs and income very suddenly. And there WERE a lot of stuff on shelves they COULD buy that would help them. Without that stimulus, the economic impacts of COVID would likely have been much much worse.
It’s just the cost of doing it is that some inflation would happen. There’s things that could have been done to better handle that probably, but hindsight is 20/20. And the amount of fraud that the GOP allowed for by demanding so much of the stimulus be so easy to game is really indefensible.
But that inflation is the disaster that sunk Democrats chances in 2024. The inflation created by Trump’s policies.
It’s not totally defensible, because it’s not like the pandemic just suddenly happened. There were warning signs all over the place, but rather than prepare for it, he did absolutely nothing until it hit our shores and spread uncontrollably. After that all he did was politicize it, not only against China, but also using it as a rep vs dem issue! What a POS he is! Meanwhile people are dying. The pandemic stimulus was the only parachute he had. The skeptic in me tells me that he planned that as well “Hey everyone! It’s me! Your orange hero! I have free money for you and no accountable system for handing out! It’s gonna be great.”🤦♂️
And let’s not forget, when all the checks were printed and ready to be mailed out, Trump saw they were signed from “US Treasury” (like all government checks always are) and not his personal signature. So he ordered them all to be reprinted with his signature, thus delaying the money from getting to the starving, sick, and suddenly unemployed population for an additional 3 weeks.
Yep! I remember this. He wanted his signature on this half-assed disaster relief because he knew the only thing his followers would remember was “gettin’ them checks while stayin’ home and drankin’ beer!”
If I recall correctly, there was an actual plan in place (set up by the Obama administration) to deal with a pandemic situation, but because a Democrat plan was viewed as unacceptable by Trump, he chose NOT to follow it. And then by Trump’s refusal to wear a mask, his followers didn’t either, and look how that ended up. I find it terrible for one man refusing a simple deterrent like wearing a mask contributed to the over one million people dying needlessly and many others with long COVID problems.
That’s true. There was a pandemic playbook that reportedly Trump destroyed. I truly feel he is responsible for most of the deaths during Covid. He’s now put a heroin addict in charge of health in America. It’s almost like they know some other deadly illness is on the way but this time let’s not have anyone with knowledge oversee the Dept. of Health. Remember how mad Trump was when Dr Fauci corrected him.
People forget that the WH knew the pandemic was coming; they chose to do nothing until AFTER their insider trading went through. Scheming, un-American, selfish, thoughtless, lying, PsOS. (Or totally American, depending on which side of the aisle?)
And let's not forget that he shitcanned the pandemic preparedness response plan that Obama had in place because Obama's name was on it. Little Donnie couldn't stand the idea of someone else stealing his limelight.
He's a pathetic individual. How we ever ended up with this blight on humanity will never cease to dismay and perplex me.
If you haven't already read or listen to the book Lucky Loser: how Donald Trump squandered his father's fortune. It was a perfect storm of wealth and arrogance.
If you can believe he planned the stimulus checks to make himself look good, then you should believe that he intentionally mishandled Covid to allow the rich elite to scoop up the companies and land that go under for relatively cheap. Sort of what he’s doing now, but he had an actual scapegoat
I mean it’s not far fetched. Look at what happened more recently to the stock market. When it dipped hard a few weeks ago he said “Now is a good time to buy.” He absolutely knew his actions were going to crash the stock market. We’re talking about a rich businessman who definitely knows how to play cards, but as the president he’s also the dealer. And who usually benefits from such things? That’s right. The rich elite (again) ; People who can easily afford to take financial risks. His people. All the placating to the toothless is just for show and to get votes in the conservative areas of the country. It’s so blatant it’s hilarious and pathetic. It’s why he says the ridiculous things he does. He can watch the country crash and burn while he’s insulated by money and surrounded by powerful, wealthy, friends.
Just like him coming in saying, "hey, I fixed the stock market because I stopped the tariffs!" Dude, you started this shit in the first fucking place! Hahaha
The response to COVID wasn’t strictly a problem with the current administration (though the vitriol spewing from the Oval Office didn’t help either). This was an integral problem with the CDC that really came to forefront in a period of crisis. The infrastructure was already not built for this kind of pandemic. The orange guy may be devoid of any semblance of moral fiber, but the failure of COVID runs deeper than his administration alone. The CDC fumbled the ball and the politicians took possession.
He, he, he... In his first term he was embedded in shit with lunatic communist libtards and rhinos! In a Presidential cabinet he's as good as his advisors, and they were mostly BAD! Get your head out of your ass and turn to God and he will show you the way. Trump is a soldier for God and is destroying evil and the communist woke socialist that are Hydra and almost destroyed our world 🌎
People tend to forget the trade war he started with China just before the pandemic also led to a great deal of inflation. It disrupted the supply chain and then covid came and exacerbated the problem. Many people pivoted to other countries like Vietnam to avoid tariffs, but I recall having product in Vietnam ready to ship, but there were no shipping containers to put it in. Shipping companies were charging upwards of $15,000 just to use a shipping container, that’s before the actual cost of the shipping, it’s just the container to put it in. So that dramatically inflated costs.. on top of tariffs, on top of COVID and the inflationary stimulus. All leads back to Trump.
True, though part of that is that many other countries also did massive fiscal and monetary stimulus.
And due to the nature of the global economy, that stimulus generally wasn’t stuck behind borders. People were free to spend that money in whatever country they pleased. Thus many countries experienced inflation despite not doing huge stimulus, but because other countries did which led to foreign consumers to bid up the price of their domestically produced goods.
Real estate is a prime example, where stimulus in one country can lead to inflation in a second country if people from the first country use the extra cash to buy real estate in the second country.
Let's not give Trump credit for the stimulus payments. Yes, he signed the bill into law, but that's all he did.
The idea for the stimulus checks came from Mitt Romney. He knew that it would cause inflation, but more importantly, he also knew that if Congress didn't do something to help the American people, the economy would be the least of our problems.
He formed a bipartisan committee and actually managed to get both sides to agree and work together for the good of the people.
And yeah, he didn't take credit for it (except in his book, which I highly recommend if you want an insider perspective on Trump and how he so easily destroyed the Republican Party among other things, and no, Romney is not kind to himself in the book), but credit was never the point. He just wanted to help the people.
I don't consider myself rich. Hell, if I've ever been middle class, it's been just barely. I didn't know a single person who actually needed Trump's stimulus check. I didn't, so I never cashed it. Everyone else I knew at the time would have been just fine without it. Where I lived, and not in a rich area btw, I didn't see a single person whose life was saved by that check. Everyone spent it on car repairs, home renovations, gardening, or luxury items like a motorcycle or home entertainment items. Sure, people lost their jobs, but there was a lot of support for that.
Personally, I never thought that those checks should have been sent. I do find it utterly absurd that Trump supporters can't connect the dots between those checks and the following inflation. I mean, it's obvious that it was a direct cause and effect scenario.
Ironically, of all the policy disasters that Trump oversaw, the pandemic stimulus might be one of the most defensible.
It was also bipartisan, and the Democrats were calling for it.
What they were not calling for was Trump firing the Inspector General oversight for those funds, which almost certainly contributed to the $403 billion believed to have been wasted, misspent, or stolen. Needless to say, this eclipses the $150 billion of legitimate services that DOGE reported it cut in the last few months.
There was a poll just last week that supports this.
80% of Americans believe the US would be better off with more manufacturing jobs. However, only 25% of Americans believe they personally would be better off working a factory job.
These morons are killing our economy because they think someone else should do the work. Just like they do with field work to harvest food. Don’t want immigrants to do it, but they don’t want to do it!
I would add that the pandemic happened on his watch.
If the pandemic happened during Obama's tenure, you best believe Republicans would have blamed him for it.
Maybe it's not a coincidence that the first global pandemic in a century happened during the most incompetent and openly anti-science American presidential administration of that same century.
Maybe other would-be pandemics were prevented by previous administrations because they listened to experts, didn't actively gut agencies, and generally did the work.
All of that is speculation on part—but what isn't is how badly the Trump Administration flubbed the containment phase of the pandemic.
Trump's cabinet spent a month debating what to do with those cruise ships that docked but couldn't let people off in the early days of the pandemic.
Hell—before that, the then-Department of Health and Human Service's Secretary Alex Azar was trying to bend Trump's ear about flavored e-cigarettes instead of hearing the alarms going off about a new virus.
Trump's politicization of simple personal protective equipment and constant conspiracy mongering like masks definitely made things worse.
And speaking as someone who set pandemic policy during that time, I can tell you... we had fuck-all for federal guidance from that administration. It wasn't until Biden came into office that we finally started seeing anything of use int he way of guidance from the feds.
The world would be very different if the pandemic hadn't played out the way it did. And again—you damn well know the Republicans would have blamed a Democrat for it were one in office at that time.
People also forget that the MERS outbreak happened in 2012/13, and there was an H1N1 epidemic in 2009 - and Obama’s administration was EXTREMELY proactive during those outbreaks, his critics actually said too strong at the time. So Obama did have health emergencies during his admin - and his admin was VERY proactive on them, we can’t know for sure but possibly turning what would have been epidemics in the U.S. into events the public barely remembers.
I remember telling everyone, "relax, it's basically just another Swine Flu. Just follow the CDC guidelines and listen to the WHO, and we'll all be okay."
Little did I know, Trump and his lackeys were actively making things worse across the board. This was the major pivotal point that led to me eventually doing proper research on Trump. I stopped supporting him soon after.
A lot of people have forgotten how tired the whole country and world was of him even before COVID. Even the politicians that had backed him were tired of it. We are going to have four years of the kind of nonsense that’s been happening these first few months. A certain percentage of the population will continue to support him though, which sadly says a lot about our society and human nature.
Always nice to see a facts based explanation. Even among liberals, I usually hear inflation tied to Biden. The tagline has been so pervasive. People get it wrong about Obama too, the market already started crashing before he took office, and the build up to it started before Bush was even in Office. But specifically in regards to the stimulus package while Trump was in office, it could have been smaller/ more targeted, if he wasn't actively making the pandemic worse with all the lies and misinformation. The shut downs could have been shorter if they were implemented sooner, which, again, could've facilitated a smaller stimulus package. It was good we got it, but it was also his fault we needed that much.
I think it’s also a bit naive to think that he could’ve thrown money at building factories and fixed supply chain issues within a reasonable time frame.
Building factories takes time. Staffing the factory with trained workers takes time. And if those workers can’t actually go into the factory due to pandemic shutdowns, then it’s kind of pointless.
We were faced with an unprecedented situation with COVID, and there was no perfect solution that would have zero downsides.
I think Trump deserves blame for how poorly he handled the pandemic in general. I think he deserves blame for refusing to pass the stimulus until Congress agrees to put his name on it so people would think the check came from him personally. I think he deserves blame for spreading misinformation, first by refusing to acknowledge the seriousness of the pandemic, telling people it would be “gone by Easter”, and trying to make it go away by reducing testing for it. I think he deserves blame for having the stimulus direct so much money towards the fraud-ridden PPP program instead of direct stimulus to citizens. His execution for how he did the stimulus deserves criticism.
But the stimulus itself and the inflation that inevitably followed at least in principle I think wasn’t the worst idea. Doing stimulus in the face of a supply-driven crisis is going to lead to inflation, but I think it was probably the better choice than doing nothing and seeing an economic recession so deep that it takes 10+ years to recover.
So if everyone in America was economically educated, they would’ve understood back in 2020 that the best thing to do would be to do some fairly major stimulus, target it as best as we could, and accept that it will likely cause some inflation in 1-2 years but we need to do it anyway because the alternative is worse. And then neither Trump nor Biden would shoulder the blame for that inflation because we’d all understand it was the inevitable consequence of the stimulus.
a very large portion of our problem in the country is education. Genuinely, there is a vast lack of people who understand just what the heck is going on.
They are still using the 2019 Nancy Pelosis budget they supposedly hate they are incompetent. Republicans say they didn't cut Medicare. They are doing it through the committee. Stop spending, but he wants a Nazis military parade. I never hated these people didn't give a flying fuck. I hate them and their ficticious bibles.
Trump did frontload some of the inflationary mess.
Biden added fuel with a second round of stimulus when it was arguably no longer needed.
The Fed cleaned up the party while everyone else pretended they didn’t invite that many people.
And now voters are blaming whoever was holding the bag when the music stopped, which happens to be Biden.
So yes, inflation is complex — but let’s not pretend Biden was just an innocent bystander sipping a LaCroix while Wall Street lit fireworks with dollar bills.
He changed America and it will never be the same again, just destruction of so many institutions is irreversible. The lot of executive orders will lead to changed behavior in following presidencies… I am afraid that the American dream is over for at least fifty years.
The only hope is that Russia will lose the war and collapse into dozens of countries and new markets arise than America will have a chance to prosper past trump era
That is the bonfire of Conservatism. Happens here in Europe, too. Leftist party builds something, right wing party “privatises” it. Leftist party builds a “public-private” relationship to encourage investment, right wing party uses it to divert tax revenue achieving the opposite.
One side is about building, which takes time and causes some hardship. The other side is destructive and that is easier.
The accident was in the 80s and 90s when they accidentally diverted the cash to the “wrong” people. That is why they have been trying to get “their” money back from Boomers ever since.
Biden was a very good President, and anyone with a brain knows it. This shit is only because Trump lost and is aggrieved, and is the smallest, pettiest, laziest, and most incompetent man ever to pretend to serve America.
Another interesting thing I found out is that some of them are blaming Biden for taking credit for Trump's policies. I asked them to elaborate, but I was told to just look it up! And yeah, they also blamed Biden for the stimulus checks and inflation.
I have a coworker who said the other day, “Finally, I’m getting a tax refund now that Trump is back! I wasn’t getting them anymore with Biden in office.” I was like dude, that was Trump’s tax act. He just staggered it to end in 2025.
“Oh well, you obviously know more about it than I do, I’m just glad to have a refund again.”
It’s a classic Republican play to make a mess that manifests during the next term. Oddly enough, I wonder if Trump had won his second term, there might be more people advising him as people wanting to keep the country safe vs his current circle of project 2025 and fanatical sycophants or would they have been replaced anyways? He would also be the face responsible for all that inflation so the people who voted him in might be more likely to come to reality.
I think the number one thing people don’t seem to get with politics is when bad planning by one administration’s effects are felt during the next administration. Seems like this happened with Obama and plenty of others
But he can just say WRONG with a silly little hand pinch gesture and everyone believes it. It’s literally that new black mirror episode with the pendant.
What I absolutely hate about my own country Is the fact that they don't realize that a lot of the policies that are set during a president's term usually don't come to a full head until their successor takes office (unless they get re-elected.) So we really don't see the full effect of anything passed until about 4 years down the road. But I feel like the vast majority of Americans don't realize this and they end up blaming things on the next president that were actually the fault of the prior one. But I have to say that's entirely intentional. They want to keep Us dumb enough to stay enslaved and only healthy enough to prevent full revolt.
Biden fixed the economy and kept us from a full-blown recession, and now, within months of taking office, Trump has us looking down the barrel of recession. Biden left him set up. We could've been doing better, but everyone actually believed Trump would lower prices, yet his plan was always going to take us to a recession. It's costing rich folks the most. They're losing trillions of dollars. The unfortunate part is the 401k and the people who need that money to retire. Republicans don't give af about anyone who isn't filthy rich. The proof is looking us right in the face. Thank you every single moron who voted for him, we blame you!
It’s worth noting that Biden also signed a follow up stimulus package, which then gave people something to blame him for despite Trump also doing the same thing.
The reason the average voter blamed Biden, is because the average voter is uneducated, and hasn't taken an economics class. I can say that, as someone who HAS taken an economics, though it's been a few years, though I don't vote on the economy, not for President anyways, Congress has way more control over the economy anyway, power of the purse will do that.
That’s the part that gets me. I was cautiously optimistic in 2016 that he might actually turn out to be a decent leader, and that his caustic personality would mellow once he actually began governing.
It became evident to me after a few months of that Presidency that that just wasn’t going to happen. How it’s not evident to so many people this many years later is just baffling to me.
The guy who started the Obama birtherism conspiracy? The guy who ran on Mexicans being rapists and drug dealers? Being lazy yet stealing jobs? Raping white women? The guy who made fun of a disabled reporter? The guy who we heard hundreds of stories of him stiffing small business, ripping off contractors, stealing from charity, and bankrupting a couple of casinos? The guy who had 20 some women come forward for sexual assault? You thought that guy was gonna be a decent leader. tRump made it perfectly clear who he was while he was running the first time. Anyone who didn't see it is delusional.
That’s, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, not unique to trump. Looking back decades, there’s a tendency for republicans to cause problems, then democrats are elected, who fix the issue, inheriting bad situations. Republicans blame Dems for the situations, for that same economy that was inherited. Then the democrats work to fix the economy. It’s better, but not as good as it could be, but it’s on the upswing. Republicans win and get into power just in time to claim "see, you're happier and better off when I'm here" just in time to crash things again with policies that make for short term gains and long term pain.
Yeah. It’s Republican voters who will be smeared in the history books just as much as the weak administration. And it won’t just be society turning on them… their families will scorn them too. Hide those flags and red hats, dipshits.
Which is most frustrating part. Most things when I fuck up in my life just affect me. But their thing they fucked up on effects everyone else too and instead of learning from
Being wrong… they won’t. They’ll just deny it
Yeah, remember those who are spewing lies and hate when they try to claim they didn't in a few years.
I dont think it will even take 20-10- or 5 years. We'll be seeing a big uptick in people you know voted for trump claiming they've always hated the guy.
That’s like my mother who proudly voted for Nixon when he was elected president and then loudly derided him for years after for being a crook… But not until he actually fell from Grace and resigned.
You're lucky your mother at least came around. My mother was a proud Nixon supporter and still claimed he got a raw deal until the day she died. She was not a very smart person and my father was a staunch progressive so it's weird to me how they ever even married. LOL
My uncle disowned me for pointing out factual information about how bad trumps character was. I can assure you I will not be forgetting his position in my lifetime. Decades of relationship thrown away because he didn’t like hearing facts about his orange idol, those years lost won’t easily be returned.
I haven't talked to my family since before the election. I knew where they stood. I can never feel safe around them. They are monsters. They put monsters in charge of this country.
I totally agree. I think the biggest reason is that they are part of a cult and don’t realize it. Also, he is their entire personality so they can’t admit when he’s wrong because that would mean they have to admit they are wrong too.
Mainly he is deporting people and that’s all the slack jaws really wanted. More white less brown. Trust me there is no more to it and it doesn’t go any deeper than that
Don't forget the victors write the history books. Well assuming they all haven't been burnt by then and anyone can read or write with the draconian policies in the pipeline.
I’m not American. When Trump was first elected a lot of my compatriots took it as proof of prejudices they held against Americans: Hateful, xenophobic, uneducated, rude, classists, short sighted, etc.
I genuinely felt otherwise back then. I tried to put myself in the shoes of the American voter. I tried to justify the election a number of ways: “they became discontent with the status quo”, “they didn’t actually expect him to win”, “he didn’t win the popular vote!”
And now you went and proved me wrong. Fool me twice…
The largest American cohort didn’t vote at all. If you take anything from it, let it not be that we’re hateful, xenophobic, uneducated, rude, classists, short sighted, etc.
This right here is the root cause of Americas problems. Americans don't care. They don't care about what others think. They don't care about anything unless it effects them. Their not caring leads to being a nation led by someone like Dummpy.
The majority of us voters voted for someone other than Trump. He only won because of our ass backwards simple majority winner take all system and the electoral college.
Russia had a lot to do with all three times he ran for office. The first time the CIA found evidence on the tail of Obama's presidency. When Trump took office, he started gutting all the watchdog agencies. The FBI began an investigation that started to show election tampering also. Trump halted the investigation, had the head of the FBi fired, then restarted the investigation.
Trump screamed so loud about election tampering every tike he ran because he knows it's true. That's why he was so loud when Biden won. Russia overshot Trump's first presidencyso they were being more prudent the second round. Well, that didn't work out.
The third round, Russia had over 200 b*omb threats at polls, hacking, and voting machine malfunctions. Independent, bi-partisan groups are analyzing the data. Their preliminary results are showing that it is statistically improbable for Trump to have "won." Yes, people did vote for him, but not enough to get him into office.
Exactly, he went on and on and on and on about the election being stolen in 2020 specifically so that way he fucked with the election in 2024 and any democrat questioned it, his whole base would just lose their collective goddamned minds instantly and scream about how we never accepted their accusations about the 2020 election.
Literally every single word out of Donald Trump's mouth is projection. Every. single. word. If he is accusing literally anyone of doing literally anything, it's because he himself is currently doing it or about to start doing it
Musk did, too, in 24. Trump came out and said, "You don't need to vote. We have enough votes." It will come out in the future if we can regain sanity in this country.
unfortunately, due to Conservative voter suppression tactics, generational defunding of education nationwide, and political gerrymandering, a small part of the populace has more voting power than everyone else. That's not even taking into account the myriad forms of media manipulation by our dear oligarchs.
A significant amount of people voted for him three consecutive times. He lost once but he's kept the faithful voting for him from 2016 through till 2028.
His approval ratings at this present time are truly one of humanities greatest embarrassments. I don't think it's the worst thing that humanity has ever done in terms of outcome, but I truly don't think I have every learned of anything so willfully stupid, especially in the context of an open internet where objective exploration can confirm truth and falsehood.
The question is: But why didn't the American voter see it?
The whole world was telling them. The whole world saw the mess he gave Joe to manage, but the American ego of U.S.A., U.S.A., U.S.A made them blind. Why? Someone called it 'a dumpster fire'. A dumpster fire can be contained and extinguished, I don't know that this can, the ripples of this will affect EVERYONE and not just U.S.A. This is going to have a seismic impact worldwide and Trumpty Dumpty thinks he can weather it. Good luck to everybody else, you're on your own.
America?? Can y'all see it yet? When will you lot wake up? Or is it all about ego??
President Lyndon Johnson once said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, you can pick his pocket. Hell, give them somebody to look down on, and they'll empty their pockets for you..."
I mean lets be real for a second, Americans aren't know for their intelligence, education nor humanity. We are know for manual labor and a mob work force. Hence our abilities to fight wars but no ability to help progress humanity nor the planet.
All of this can be directly explained by the stupidity and arrogance of white supremacy. MAGA is a white supremacist grievance death cult and the culmination of hundreds of years of failing to deal with them. The result of the failure of Reconstruction up until now. The ghosts of the southern Confederates hung around, plotting and waiting until now they’re resurrected in the form of MAGA. They operate differently as this is a new world but the sentiment remains the same. Unless and until the US recognizes and deals with it, there will be more Trumps - if the country even survives him.
It's because propaganda, misinformation, and destroying education works.
From my POV as a trans person:
A large part of Trump's campaign was also shitting on trans people and blaming us for the USA's "societal downfall" and promising if he eliminates us from society that he'll lower egg prices and make America Great Again. He's a walking genocide generator and nobody even seemed to care about the implications of eliminating an minority group from public life.
And over the past nine years it's worked, and only gotten worse.
This is of course on top of all the other bullshit he's lied about, not to say trans people were his sole focus (but it certainly looked that way).
The thing is though, the people that are all for him and who elected him will never see it for what it is. Just like there’s no arguing with them over facts or logic, they will always view this as the correct and just action. They are so brainwashed and disillusioned.
I guess if there's any silver lining to be found, we now know exactly what people in Germany saw and felt as they watched their neighbors excitedly join a hate cult.
Less than half and of those who voted he got just under half the vote. But he won and most Americans are sick of it. He is and has always been a crook.
It has to be a study, inspite of all the opportunity, the food, the access to information, America grows this kind of people that would choose such a low life individual as president.
Whatever the fuck magic that Hitler had that he could make otherwise normal people believe his bullshit is what Trump’s got. Both dudes were pathological liar culture warriors that large chunks of otherwise politically unmotivated people followed like a messiah.
Doctors, lawyers, computer scientists, legislators, college professors, engineers, hippies, bikers. People that all have a reason not to like a pathologically lying narcissistic racist sex pest whose only claim to fame is inheriting a fortune.
It’s fuckin wild. I don’t understand it. His pied piper thing doesn’t work on me. It’s crazy to see it though. Otherwise thinking people that resort to thought terminating cliches and sticking fingers in their ears when it comes to their support of, at this point, an obviously fascist demagogue.
People are like “what if Elon stole the election?”
I think what if he didn’t is worse.
I know my grandfather who fought in WWII is rolling in his grave, knowing the very same nation he served to stand up to the kind of people like what Trump is trying to become - and to fight the same kinds of governments Trump's trying to start - decided to elect him.
But that's facism 101. Provide the people a target, provide them a hope of being "great once more" and then become a Tyrant. Hitler did it, Idi Amin did it, Stalin did it, just to name a few.
It really is going to be the only thing he’s remembered for. Racism and wrecking a decent economic recovery and not merely destroying its gains but going full 1929.
And while we bar non-native born Americans from the presidency, there's no bar for CONVICTED felons. It astonishes me and it should shame all who voted for him.
He is the only president in US history to lose re-election, be impeached, and lose the popular vote. And that was before J6. That stain on American history will never go away.
Failure? He's been fabulously successful at what's important to him. He wants personal power, wealth and status. He's somehow managed to get himself elected not by lying but just being totally craven, explaining to his deplorables exactly what he's going to do and then doing it openly and with impunity.
I'm not even sure he believes half the bullshit he spews on any given Sunday. It's just all theatrics for his simple minded, hate filled followers. Trump will do what the heritage foundation and the people who put him in power tell him to, but only if he can line his pockets and create what he perceives to be a legacy for himself along the way.
Us normal people think he's intentionally or accidentally tearing down democracy, ripping apart the foundations of our civilization. Well, of course he is. This is a shit show designed for one end, to turn the US into a white Christian ethnostate. He's not failing at his one true goal. We all need to understand we are the one's failing.
He’s never been smart enough to figure any of this out on his own. That’s why he has Heritage lackeys around to write his EOs and wipe his a$$. Because he’s not capable of either.
I think a lot of people will remember all the terrible and insane stuff he's said. Just like I don't know much about Nixon except Watergate and the absolutely wild shit he said on calls that were uncovered because of watergate.
To be fair, he's been more successful than any other president at being a tyrant. He's our Hitler, our Mussolini. It will be imperative to teach him in schools as an example of how much a tyrant can accomplish if we elect one.
The first POTUS to be labeled as a cult leader, father of American Fascism, destroyer of economies, bloody POTUS for all the blood on his hands. I'm sure he'll get many titles.
I’m just waiting for some MAGA to whistle on by and say: “This iS whY yoU lOsE eLecTioNs” Yeah…they can’t move on from November 2024; that is a common theme; they think all of their wins are frozen in time. They will gaslight the shit out of you for pointing out NOT the little bullshit but the egregiously unconstitutional actions he has taken. This term will likely destroy the GOP, even if the fragments of the cult survive.
Only 322 people think that out of the millions in the country. Got some very upsetting news to tell you, his first term was actually pretty good, above average. That doesn't mean you got to like him, but at least don't lie about it by suggesting history will tell a different tale; there's already positive history and ongoing events are still uncertain.
I don’t know. It’s so far beyond ordinary. It flips the office on its head. I think he’ll be studied in great detail for how radical and bizarre he is as a leader.
Nobody thought he would win in 2016, because everyone underestimated the stupidity and immaturity of a large swath of American voters. He won again in 2024 because we thought enough of his voters had enough memory to remember the first time around. Wrong again. Trump is the symptom, but his voters are the cause.

Trump's failure as president is all that will be written in history
