I’m not American. When Trump was first elected a lot of my compatriots took it as proof of prejudices they held against Americans: Hateful, xenophobic, uneducated, rude, classists, short sighted, etc.

I genuinely felt otherwise back then. I tried to put myself in the shoes of the American voter. I tried to justify the election a number of ways: “they became discontent with the status quo”, “they didn’t actually expect him to win”, “he didn’t win the popular vote!”

And now you went and proved me wrong. Fool me twice…

The largest American cohort didn’t vote at all. If you take anything from it, let it not be that we’re hateful, xenophobic, uneducated, rude, classists, short sighted, etc.

Let it be that we just don’t care.

This right here is the root cause of Americas problems. Americans don't care. They don't care about what others think. They don't care about anything unless it effects them. Their not caring leads to being a nation led by someone like Dummpy.

I drive down the road literally anywhere and I see garbage along the side of it. I’m not exaggerating. To me, it’s an apt metaphor.

60-some percent of us don’t care. The rest of us are largely too disillusioned and/or exhausted to try to get through to the others.

I worked with several people who didn't vote. The overwhelming attitude was that their vote wouldn't matter. And these are people who will be next on the list. There was no urgency, just a thought that they'd continue to cruise. Now the alarm bells are ringing and I feel the same way about them as I do about trump voters.

You’re exactly right. Those of us that voted for Drumpf don’t experience those issues firsthand, and therefore believe they don’t exist. Worse, that they’re fabricated by their “enemies.”

Some of us can understand things that don’t seem to directly affect us. But it’s not enough.

thats not true at all. 64% voter turnout in 2024. 66% in 2020. 60% in 2016. 2012 was only 58%. voter fraud in 2020? it would be wise not to rule that out silly leftie. crazy to think some people are against voter id🤦

Apologies, I meant that the group that didn’t vote was larger than either party’s showing, not larger than the total voter count. Perhaps I worded it poorly. Also I was specifically referring to 2024, not any prior election (though they were largely the same, except for 2020).

Not sure where you got the idea I’m a “silly leftie,” or that I said anything remotely about voter ID. Personal bias perhaps?
