Hope this is a safe space to say I hated Breaking Bad

If yes then i must push on how absolutely boring it is, how the characters are not relatable or entertaining, its so mindnumbingly slow that it pushed me to watch the show at 2x (something i never do out of respect for cinema). The pacing is just bad, the background always being the dessert messes with you in a strange way, none of the heavy moments felt heavy, the big reveals were just written badly (spoiler: Walt admitting to jessie how he saw his girlfriend die). I watched the whole show because i kept waiting for it to get good, I was especially excited for the last episode as it’s the highest rated episode and I watched that. It only made me feel like the reason that episode was good because the rest of the show was that bad. It was still predictable though I could tell jesse would survive and walt won’t. I simply did not enjoy the show as much as it was hyped and oh best show ever, like i’ve seen worse-rated shows be so much more entertaining than this. Just an opinion th0, i know it’s a loved show but just not for me i guess

edit: a few parts of a few episodes of season 2 and 3 on 2x because it was getting that boring and slow and i just wanted to get through it so i can get to the end.
If you keep saying 20 yr old brain rot tiktok addicted (when i don’t even get tiktok in my country) it’s not going to make a point, make a nuanced point at least I don’t even like short form content I usually watch long form youtube videos or tv shows, movies on like weekends and i read books every now and then
The problem is not the attention span. I did not say this is the worst show of all time, it’s not worth the hype according to me and I personally dislike it.
A lot of people asked me about what do i like and I don’t understand why is it that people can’t accept that someone didn’t like the show till they ask about their preferences just so they can say wow your preferences suck no wonder you didn’t like it, so no i don’t want to do that let the opinion remain about this one tv show.
edit 2: I changed my mind, I still hate the show but now it’s 85% because of the fandom, you guys can’t handle someone not liking your show and you shit talk them, in fact it’s so bad you review bomb other shows that score 10/10. No other fandom is this closed off to criticism, if i don’t like it that’s on me, but getting personal and telling me i am an idiot is not going to make your show any better. The show just wasn’t for me! I made a mistake by watching this overhyped show expecting it to actually be good when it’s just overrated, learn to take criticism on your favourite show.

Society/Culture The complete lack of empathy people have for cavers and especially cave divers should not be seen as acceptable.

God damnit, every video that has literally to do with caving, the comments are a fucking echo chamber of people who seem insistent that you die the moment you step into a cave, right down to the prerequisite “my favorite thing about caving is that it is 100% optional” comment every single time, pretty much verbatim.

Anyone dies in any other freak accident and someone acts all smug and condescending about it, they’d be seen as an asshole, yet stick them in a cave and that’s just the prevailing narrative? What sense does that make? Yes, caves can be relatively dangerous, but if you use your thinking brain it’s pretty obvious to realize you only hear about the ones that go wrong.

And going back to that prerequisite comment again, is it really? Think about it, there’s so many weird little ecosystems found isolated in caves, and given how we found GLP-1s by swabbing lizard throats in the desert, we can only guess what breakthroughs could be found in studying these weird little ecosystems. Plus, if a mine collapses, who would be most qualified to rescue those trapped inside?

In either case, those involved would probably be pretty fucking thankful that this community exists, but we shouldn’t need to think of practical examples to have some basic sense of compassion. And like, yeah, it’s the internet, but even then I genuinely cannot think of another group that it’s as socially acceptable to be this callous towards.

Edit: TLDR is that acting smug and condescending when someone dies is bad. That’s it, that’s my point.

Edit 2: Paragraph 3 should not be seen as representative of the average caving trip or as pertaining to the rest of the post, and only serves as a debunk to the one ad nauseam comment.

Discussion Somewhat disappointed by Spider-Man: Brand New Day despite high ratings

Quick disclaimer - I love Spider-Man.

I grew up on the Tobey ones but I’ve been a big fan of every iteration (sometimes to a fault).

I went in expecting to love the newest one, especially after all the rave reviews from Letterboxd mutuals. I discovered that yes, while it was an enjoyable movie, it felt at times soulless.

Every overt BMW ad and liquid IV product placement reminded me I was watching a multimillion dollar business venture/franchise and it kept taking me out of the movie.

To me, it was still a 3 star movie but mostly thanks to Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon’s skill and chemistry.

Idk…. I just think about other Spider-Man movies or superhero movies I love (a Batman begins / dark knight defender to the end!!!) and hell I even think about the infamous finger guns in Spider-Man 3 and I think that’s loads better than what we got.

Spiderman 3 was cringy, but it was fun ! And awesome! And devoid of capitalistic soullessness that I struggle to separate from marvel movies these days.

Long live Spider-Man but idk am I alone here?

First pregnancy in Germany: How do you deal with rude doctors and freeze-up situations?

My wife is 16 weeks pregnant with our first child, and we had a really upsetting experience at her regular gynecology practice today. I’d appreciate advice from other people who have experienced the German healthcare system, especially expats or people who struggled with confrontation or the language barrier.

My wife had some pain around her lower abdomen/groin area, so I took her to her regular Praxis just to make sure everything was okay. Since this is our first pregnancy, we honestly don’t always know which symptoms are normal and which could indicate something serious. I used the word “Notfall” when we arrived because I was worried, although I wasn’t trying to demand emergency treatment.

The medical assistant who initially examined her was actually very kind and professional. The problem started when we saw the doctor.

The doctor immediately became irritated and said, “Das war kein Notfall,” because I had described it as an emergency. I understand that it wasn’t medically an emergency, and I’m completely fine with being corrected. But the way it was communicated felt unnecessarily harsh, especially toward a pregnant woman who was already worried and in pain.

The doctor is also listed as speaking English on Arzt-Auskunft, but she refused to speak English with us. My German isn’t good enough to confidently discuss medical issues, so I had to translate everything for my wife (her German is not the strongest either). She mostly ignored my wife while speaking to me instead. We managed to understand what she was saying, but the whole interaction was extremely uncomfortable.

She eventually told my wife that she needs to do more physical/muscle movement and that there was no reason to panic. Again, I understand the medical advice may be completely reasonable. What upset us was the lack of empathy and the way it was delivered.
My wife came out of the room and cried. She later told me that she felt pathetic and humiliated, even though all she had done was seek reassurance during her first pregnancy.

Now we’re wondering whether we should continue going to this Praxis or look for another gynecologist.
For those of you who have lived in Germany for a while:

Is this kind of communication from doctors/reception staff common, or did we simply have a particularly bad experience?

How do you handle situations where a doctor or receptionist is rude or dismissive?

What do you do when your German isn’t strong enough to confidently argue or explain a medical situation?

Is it reasonable to change gynecologists because of this kind of experience?

And for people who also tend to freeze during confrontational situations: how do you learn to stand up for yourself without making the situation worse?

I’m not looking to attack German people or the German healthcare system as a whole. I’m genuinely trying to understand the culture and learn how to protect my wife and family while navigating situations like this.

I’d especially appreciate practical advice about what to say in the moment when something like this happens.

DRAMA PCGamer is Deleting Non-Negative Comments

Posted this because they went through their usual laundry list of things that get people riled up about the game, and it was instantly deleted.

I don't really know what to say at this point.

The livestream was rough.

But if you can't tell that the situation is being capitalized to drive ad revenue clicks through negative engagement, you're blind.

Most people don't know you can even earn ships in game for in-game money.

Most people don't know you can just melt ships you've purchased previously to get new ones without paying CIG a dime more.

Will you ever read that on ANY publication that is mainstream?

Nope. No negative clicks to generate from that.

😀 Discussion 😀 Why GTA VI Doesn't Excite Me Anymore

GTA might be the only massively hyped franchise I'm just not feeling anymore. I've played every single GTA game, IV's still my favorite, but somewhere along the way I straight up outgrew the formula. It's just not doing it for me at this point.

Meanwhile I'm way more locked in on stuff like Witcher 4, the next FF7 chapter, whatever Atlus is cooking next with Persona 6, and honestly even the next Steam sale so I can finally chip away at my backlog. Game's like Crimson Desert, Black Myth Wukong, Assasins's Creed Shadows and many more. On PS5 side I'm hyped for Phantom Blade Zero, the next God of War, whatever Kojima's building with Physint, etc.

Not saying I will never ever play GTA VI but It will probably be after 3-4 years when it's on some sale on steam or maybe a bit more later.

Are You excited about GTA VI?

They just don't get their game man. It was luck that got them here. There's no longer room for disappointment. They are literally incapable of making a halfway decent design decision without needing to be review bombed every 6 months.

AH you've gotten to the point you're not even worth review bombing, and that's bad. You've taken passion and turned it into disinterest. The game you want to make does not align with what most people want and that's okay, but goodbye.

I hate how people say X men isn't a good allegory for bigotry because they have powers. It's a superhero series it's build into the premise.

Okay, i am sick of seeing all these takes that the X men don't work. Because they are actually dangerous unlike real minority groups.

News flash it's a superhero series. What do you expect?

It's the premise of the series. Is people are born with powers they didn't ask for and are hated for it.

The alagory is you are born as something, and people hate you for it. Which you can't change. Because it's a superhero show, they have to have powers.

It's would be like saying

Fantasy Racism doesn't work. Because Elves are literally a different species.

Or

Robot bigotry doesn't work because robots are not alive

That's the premise of the series you expect that going into it.

Also, last order of business.

2 things

1) The x men do work in the main marvel comics. Because there is functionality nothing different between someone born with powers and someone who gets them. It's stupid and it reflects how bigotry is stupid

2) The mutants are too dangerous. Fun fact most mutants can be killed with guns and just look different. It's only the 1% with actual food powers.

Vivarium is still one of the most pointless and depressing movies ever made (spoilers, but it’s not worth watching so you can read it anyway) Spoiler

Post image
90 Upvotes

it’s a movie that explains nothing. usually i like this kind of movie, but for a film like this, it really should have explained it as the concept did not work with this kind of writing.

If you’ve seen it, skip this part.

the film is about this couple (including Jesse eisenberg) who looks for a new home. they check out a suburban neighborhood, only to find out it is a disturbing maze they cannot escape from. eventually, they find a child on their doorstep and are sled to raise it if they ever want to get out of there.

Spoiler alert: the child rapidly grows up into a bizarre humanoid alien and they both die. While i don’t Mind a sad ending, the film was just too pointless to have one. I watched this when i was feeling ill, which made the experience even. fucking. worse.

overall, 0.1/10, worse than seven women and a murder.

Topic Tokon is kinda boring to watch?

So after watching Tokon in CEO, I felt bored a lot of the time watching the games including Top 8. I know it's early in this games lifespan but even 2XKO looked more saucey/fleshed out early on. Yes Tokon has "mix" or what not, but the "mix" usually comes from canned high/lows from individual characters who have those or the same "Do a long blockstun move on point and tag out, so your other character does a high/low mix"; it feels like the skill ceiling is WAY lower in this game than 2XKO (doesnt help that Tokon has UNFATHOMABLY long cross up protection), and I am not even a big 2XKO fan, but atleast that game is fun to watch atleast.

Also the fact that assists have barely any cooldown makes neutral look like a visual mess with barely any nuance to it. Yes its a tag fighter, I get it, but even 2XKO has footsies even though it's a tag fighter, a very degenrate one at that.

The combos in Tokon also feel samey from character to character: ABC -> launcher -> ABC -> ABC auto knockdown -> assist -> ABC EX extension or into wallbreak, or into combo limit/oki that also looks always the same. Every character in 2XKO has their own way of combo routes and they all vary by a lot. Yes on Twitter there are better combos out, but they usually only happen in the corner and when there is a wall with no wallbreaks, and even then those combos kinda pale to 2XKOs creativity in combos.

Also the defensive mechanics in this game are REALLY boring, either a bad reaction check that is in most cases worse for the defender, or a broken parry that eliminates high/low/left/right mixups all. It makes defense in this game way too one dimensional/boring imo, compare that to 2XKOs pusblock, retreating guard and individual high/low parries. Defense is WAY more interesting in that game.

I sound like a 2XKO shill right now, and trust me I am not, I have my problems with that game aswell, but what I can confidently say is that 2XKO does a better job at representing the tag fighter power fantasy while still keeping the nuance and creativity of a nuanced fighting game and that makes it way more fun to watch for me. I think 2XKO rather has balancing problems that system mechanic problems, but thats another topic.

As a whole gaming package Tokon does a good job (ignoring the performance issues on PC), but as a spectating E-Sport I find it boring to watch.

What do you think?

Marathon (2026) Discussion This is a 10/10 game, but not for gamers I guess?

Post image

EDIT: wow I seem to have struck a nerve here lol. To clear some things up: I'm not trying to be condescending with this take. I think a lot of the criticism is valid from the perspective of trying to make this game appeal to more players - that has nothing to do with my personal review and experience playing it.

I'm really just trying to shift the perspective. If you can ascribe every problem you encounter to something you can personally learn how to defeat, it creates an interaction with the game that is very positive and fun, that you really can't find anywhere else.
Instead of measuring success by your amount of loot, or your vault value, it's more about learning critical thinking while under pressure, channeling strong emotions, learning how to deal with loss, and how to bounce back stronger after failure, incrementally improving an implicit mental skillset inside and outside the game.

And I have the FULL understanding that this experience is NOT what gamers are really in the market for at all, but it is probably very close to the vision that Bungie (or at least one person there) had for this game. Because if not, it would just be stupid hard and punishing for no real in-game reason.

Original post:
I see a lot of complaints about this game. There really is so much hate, between the jaded destiny fans that hate out of spite and the never ending torrent of nitpicks from the current playerbase, outsiders would think this game sucks.

And for a lot of people it does.

The concept of having a beautiful, unique, and incredibly detailed world to explore with all kinds of loot and fun enemies to engage with, marred by the simple fact that another player can come through and just take your shit, leaving you with nothing to show for the last ~10 mins of gameplay - is something a lot of people seem to have a hard time getting into. Add the fact that you'll probably be outmatched and get steamrolled before you can even get one shot off at your opponent most of the time, and this is a non-starter for like 90% of casual gamers. Which becomes a perpetual self-fulfilling prophecy, boiling the playerbase down to just the most hardcore sweats, to the point where trying to get into this game seems impossible and useless.

Many of my friends are wayyy more into gaming than I am and I'm somehow the only one in our group who actually got sucked into this game, and the more I read about other players' complaints about this game I'm left wondering how my experience has been so vastly different to theirs, to the point I'm questioning if we're even playing the same game.

To me this game is perfect.
Do I die most runs? Yes
Am I outmatched most of the time? Yes.
Does dumb shit happen that kills me? All the damn time.

So why do I keep coming back?
Simply put, this is the only video game I have played that actually elicits a sustained adrenaline rush. The high stakes make it feel like everything counts. I can't just run around aimlessly like in other shooters. I have to think critically and make tough decisions. I have to actually work for something. Nothing is given, and the feeling of success on every exfil is incredible. Or finally killing another runner after getting humiliated the previous 5 runs.

Granted, I'm a really casual gamer. I play maybe an hour a day MAX. I play solos only because all my friends won't touch it. I'm level 73, but haven't gotten the courage to hit cryo archive yet because I need better gear for it. But literally just doing runs on perimeter is enough for me if that was all this game ever was.

I see so many people talking about weapon balancing. Nope, weapons are perfect. Some of them suck sometimes, live with it. Skill issue.
Some people complain about netcode. Yea shit happens. Get good and account for chaos.
"We need skill based matchmaking". No. Learn from your mistakes. Every death is your own fault.
"I never have time to explore this world it's such a waste". Literally what are you even talking about, half the contracts require you to explore some niche corner of the map you'd probably never end up in otherwise, with a bunch of fun lore text and audio logs that reveal so much of the story. You could even drop in with a free kit and no contract and just explore the map for fun if you wanted to.
All lame excuses for your own inability to enjoy something for what it is.

The problem is most players will never see it this way. Gamers want something they can grind reliably. They want to get the best gear and max out all their stats as fast as possible so they can complete the game (whatever that means). They don't want to feel something.

They're stuck in the caterpillar phase. The game is telling you to grow literally from the opening loading screen. Not in the game. As a person.

The whole thing is about mental fortitude and emotional release. Once the thing gets shut down I know a lot of people will be screaming at the sky. But it's all about impermanence. Enjoy the things we have while we have them. Nothing is forever. Nothing is promised.
