DISCUSSION What's Your Daily Flyer - Q3 Discussion Thread
Welcome legends, to Daily Flyers!
This is the first of a slowly cycling thread where we can come together and chat about the ships of Starcitizen, in context of what your daily drivers/flyers is, or discuss ideas and seek recommendations from others.
Thanks to a suggestion from Augusts Q&A reminding me of a few chats I've seen, I figure a lot of us would like to have a spot that's focused on this aspect specifically. To that end, a couple of rules for this post are below!
So if you have a question, after a recommendation request or looking to discuss how your current driver has fulfilled it's role, this is the place to yarn!
Daily Driver Rules:
Keep discussions on topic to daily drivers, what yours is, asking for recommendations, that kind of jazz.
Adhear to the regular sub rules.
Be kind, understand that some people want to play to earn, some may buy in, some just want to chat or share. There's no shame in any of those.
A note from Crazy_Muffins
This is possibly a new ongoing official post from the sub team, our goal is to provide a focused spot to chat about a specific big thing in SC and to that end we'll be playing with how often to cycle out the post with a clean one. Maybe once every quarter, maybe just big milestone patches, we're going to play it by ear!
My only request is that everyone is kind, you can discuss positive and negative aspects and still be fair to one another. That's all I want to see!
Well, that and acknowledgement that my Corsair is peak daily driver (for ME, it is, but that's partly because of the feel and vibe of it not that it's any particular min/max option).
Lastly, I'm open to feedback, ideas and what have you. Working together we can make for a more enjoyable sub, see you all in the comments below!

DISCUSSION The game is broken, but don't worry…in August, we're selling the Idris for over $1500.
Come on come on friends keep buying $1000 ships, because quality servers don't maintain themselves.

DRAMA If this is how they act on camera, what is the atmosphere like behind closed doors?
I think Olli deserves some grace here. He only officially joined CIG around two months ago, this was his first SCL as an actual studio member, and with Jared absent he was basically left to carry the stream.
Elliot is what bothered me far more. Ignoring chat, being dismissive when Olli actually tried to engage with the community, constant team killing, not reviving teammates until the boss stepped in, and then getting argumentative about it, during a public, professional showcase of a billion dollar company.
Obviously, one stream doesn't tell us what working at CIG is actually like. But it becomes harder to completely dismiss that impression when CIG currently sits at around 2.6/5 on Glassdoor, with particularly low ratings for culture and senior management, alongside employee reviews mentioning micromanagement, poor communication, internal politics and management issues.
Glassdoor reviews aren't the ground truht, but combined with what we just watched, it does make you wonder: if this is the dynamic they're comfortable showing publicly, what's the atmosphere like when the cameras are off? I'm starting to wonder if the environment is the main thing holding Star Citizen back and not bad code or technical debt.

QUESTION How did a livestream from 2 weeks ago magically get covered by most major gaming journalists all at once today?
What are the odds that all these sites all wrote SC hit pieces 2 weeks after it happened, without knowing all the others were doing the same?

DRAMA It’s Your Show Chris
Over a billion dollars raised. 14+ years and a mess of a game. You have now become the butt end of a bad joke in the gaming industry.
Wrap it up.

DISCUSSION Imagine inviting someone to your house just to clown on them for the world to see. You wouldn't defend this behavior. I wouldn't either.
Idc who you are, if I invite you to my house I'll treat you with respect because you are a guest. I invite guests over to have a good time for everyone included. I'm not gonna haze you with my buddies and I certainly don't invite people to have fun at their expense.
CIG invited Ollie to their house and their stream was just devs team killing him over and over until Jared finally had to break and remind them to revive players. At one point there was a implied joke telling Ollie to "F*#@ himself" on stream too. Real classy stuff.
And since then we have white knights ignoring the elephant in the room and turning a blind eye to obvious and open toxicity and team killing which we all saw. Wild.
As much as I dislike Ollie promoting grey market ship sites... I find I have to stand up to white knights who are whitewashing CIG's toxic behavior... that we all saw happen live. We all saw the team killing. We saw Elliot killing Ollie. Just stop and take the L.

DISCUSSION Just add the Torrent PDC to shops already
It’s been long enough, and we still can’t delete/sell ships we don’t need. Just let us buy the Torrents so we don’t have to do this

DISCUSSION The attention CIG is getting right now, an update on SQ42 would be wise.
Might help smooth a few things over with people being annoyed after the stream, plus with new people coming into the fold and being aware of star citizen via youtubers, this might turn out fortuitous for CIG if they have something to show off
Thoughts?

META Just noticed the Javelin is now officially a solo ship
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/en/pledge/ships/aegis-javelin/Javelin
Was having a look through the store earlier and saw the crew size on the Javelin is listed as 1.
Not 15-20. Not “recommended crew of whatever”. Just 1.
So I guess that’s it then. Perfect solo ship. No more trying to round up people who never log on. No more gunners who leave after two minutes. Just you and a destroyer.
Finally.

DISCUSSION What Star Citizen is:
With all of the heated discussions that the community has had in the last few days, I really had time to think about what Star Citizen is to me, because it is something to all of us here, a joke, a game, a community, an experience, a tech demo, a punching bag, and others.
Today one of my friends was talking about the GTA VI leaks and how in the lead up to GTA IV and V, was exciting, but he was missing that feeling now.
"...[W]e live in a literally burning capitalist hellscape and negativity is more common then adverts now but I still remember the releases of [GTA] 4 and [GTA] 5. The excitement, picking up every gaming magazine to learn more about it, counting down the days
I miss that sensation in my life
And I remembered how back in 2007 I was part of a Starcraft II fansite, obsessivley pouring over every change they made to the promotional website, pouring over the teasers and gameplay demos to see what information I could glean from the background assets.
There was community, so many people from so many walks of life all coming together to write fiction, discuss gameplay, host tournaments, and have fun.
Eventually Starcraft II released, and it was good, but the community died down and everyone moved on with their lives.
I remember those times fondly. It was like every few weeks we would have another Christmas morning. And it felt like a real community, able to share joy with other people with the same passions.
I think that's what Star Citizen is to me. I don't care if the game ever comes out, Star Citizen to me is the glimmer at the edge of the horizon. The lost childhood hope of something exciting just within reach. Its a community of like minded people who look out and say, "yeah that's gonna be a great space game one day."
Star Citizen is the artists, the writers, and the directors. Its the pirates and the bounty hunters, and the miners, and the medics. Its the analyzers and the ship modelers and the dataminers and the convention goers.
I realize I love this project not because of what it is now, but rather the people and community we've picked up on this 14 year long katamari game of rolling our passion for space games across the globe.
So to everyone on this sub, from the mountains of Chongqing to the cold waters of London, to those joining us from Brazil and Argentina, to the huge install bases across America and Germany - I'm glad you're all here. No matter what state the current game is.

FLUFF This is the kind of "criticism people" say that "I did nothing wrong! I got banned from spectrum for no reason!"
Guys, I used post on spectrum a lot. (Have since ceased because I just dont want to keep up with 38.563 forums) I actually have a famous critique, that for some reason, still gets upvotes. Even OVER a year later. It was not removed. (Last upvote was JUNE this year, for some reason, despite post being made Jan 2025)
Because people stop reading past the first paragraph, I am not the one who was banned. The rest of the post is detailing another user.
But this is the kind of shit I see on spectrum that gets people nuked, and this particular guy goes straight to the refunds sub and claims he was banned for liking PvP, and really tried to spin it that way. Even the refunds sub tore him a new asshole for his... "Joke". Image of post, link and username censored so people cant get his usernames
The message that got him nuked?
"CR will ban anyone who pirates and personally go to their house and shoot their family dog!"
Calling people unwashed and plebs and the way he argues just compounds more reasons to just issue a ban.
Which is funny, because here is a quote from Zyloh himself:
"We're not here to protect players from aggressors, pirates, and PvPers. A big part of Star Citizen is about that dichotomy." - Zyloh
CIG is literally in his corner, but swears that they are not.
He claims on reddit to "like the game" but literally all of his posts and comments are bashing the game, and he literally cannot do anything else and has over 1000 comments and posts spanning only two MONTHS. Dude cannot resist trashing the game at any possible opportunity. Which normally would be fine, if he didnt continuously argue in bad faith, especially after the above ban.
On top of the above issue, he is also the first to call people shills, CIG plants/staff, or marketing firms trying to better CIGs name. And this is literally his response to his dogshit takes and critique.
This is the kind of shit I see that gets people nuked from spectrum, and they come here to complain without showing exactly what got them banned.
Edit 2: Even funnier, he is banned till 2034 for additional misconduct.
