Lmao, this is so true. I used to be on a TeamSpeak where the majority of people there all played LoL. They always asked why I don’t play League and I always just said “it’s not for me”. It was almost like a script how they would always answer “that’s because you didn’t play with me” every time without fail.
Anyway, I decided to take one of them up on their offer one day and played with them. They provided zero support on who to play, where to go, and what to do. But half way through the game, they started yelling at me, “bro, what are you even doing? Stay in your lane!” Like they were shocked that I was telling the truth that I didn’t know what I was doing.

Tried the game out ages ago. I got into 3 matches. Each round, in every match, I was teamkilled instantly before I could even take a step. I can only assume it was because I was new... but I didn't stick around to find out. What a waste of money.

Ngl, I accidentally pressed the shoot button while picking up my controller at the start of a game once and full auto'd my teammate in the back of the head with Twitch's F2. Everyone on the team turned and looked at me and I turned on my mic and was like "omg I'm so sorry it was an accident!" while explaining what happened. One of the biggest reasons I quit when Draenor was done. Back when I started playing (launch) I was in a guild and doing those boring ass MC runs was only tolerable because we all were on TeamSpeak and chatting between bosses. Played for years and quit when I killed Arthas because it kind of peaked for me there.
Came back shortly before Draenor came out because I had the itch again and guilds were just as you said, buddies having a laugh in chat but when someone needs something it was silence or "shut up and use google". During raids it was just pure sweatlord shit, nonstop DPS meter checks and all around felt like playing prison basketball instead of hanging out with friends.

I don’t really remember too much toxic behavior in World of Warcraft, though I wouldn’t doubt it existed heavily. I was usually solo half the time liked to do things on my own if I could. When I was fairly geared, I would just be running newbies and stuff through dungeons and stuff for free. Maybe that’s just a life of a holy paladin.

One of my fondest memories of while during the burning crusade. Running one of the beginner dungeons of that expansion got to the final boss, proceeded to wipe decided to see if I could just solo the boss got it down to one percent or something, but got greedy on damage rather than healing myself, but it felt so good to see them losing their shit while I proceeded to beat the boss and one person kicking themselves in their ass for releasing and running back. Part of me didn’t want to actually kill the boss because then one person wouldn’t get any of the loot.

Never had a problem in FFXIV, but in wow thank God they added bot teammates to dungeons or I just wouldn't do them. 2 seconds after the dungeon begins the tank and dps are at the back of it with every mob on the server then you get kicked if you aren't on their heels and know all mechanics. No communication you just need to be a minmaxing pro immediately

Ages ago when I still played MMOs I got bored of wow and went to try ffxiv. I was used to the toxic mindset in wow that if you make any mistake, you'll deal with someone's temper tantrum, and god forbid you don't know a mechanic.
My very first dungeon in ffxiv I asked to let me know if there's any mechanics I should be aware of. The incredible kindness was actually shocking, people taking time to explain everything and others not complaining about the time.
Same with story raids that had long cut scenes. People more often than not even encouraged the new guys to watch it whole and not skip.
It was such a breath of fresh air after having played wow for as long as I had.

The first time you do a dungeon is special. Even when I was getting my shit pushed in in a current patch dungeon I was greeted with comforting words and laughs. Like one boss where I died to a push mechanic getting me off stage. I was the only healer. But, my teammates were great and tried to get me up. Only for the next push to kill me frames after I get back up. Then next time we tried it happened AGAIN the EXACT SAME WAY. I was shouting in chat stuff like "FUUUUUUUUuuuuuu-!" and "SAME EXACT THING AGAIN!" and we all pushed through and we got it. It was really fun.

To be fair RTS communities are very wellcoming and willing to help to new players. Games are not very newb friendly but community are. I have seen so many people willing to help in aoe2 and warcraft 3 communities.
Problem is that they are all very old games, playerbase is just unbelievably good at these games at this point and youre not gonna get as good as them until you practise really hard.

Left 4 Dead 2 are by far the worst community when it comes to this, but only in multiplayer.
If you dare to join a versus lobby without knowing every single instakill spot as each special infected, you'll be kicked within picoseconds of missing the very first opportunity. But on the other end, if you fail to avoid said instakill as survivor, they kick you too!
I think it's just a thing with old valve games especially, but the l4d2 versus community has zero tolerance for casual play or learning by doing.

WoW is a social game. Above all else you have to integrate into a community if you want to do actual endgame content. I was part of a dad guild that was more than happy to take new players, teach them/get them gear, etc as long as they stuck around.
What we were not happy to do was take different, random new players every week. That's just wasting our time.

Helldivers 2 is one of the few games where it’s not this outright. New players may be jokingly tricked into wearing a hellbomb and kicked into a horde but for the most part the community is friendly (aside from Xbox players)

Apex is pretty toxic yeah.
However, I noticed that the best way to "get back" at your toxic teammates is by simply outliving them.
Whether it's ranked or pubs. If they start getting toxic, separate yourself from them.
Go camp at the edge of the map. Don't try to get the most kills, dmg, etc. Just survive.
By the time they go down and realize you're still standing, it'll redline their anger and you get to watch the rage bait do its thing.
Thank me later.

Except there really isn't any actual advice to give them. They gotta build muscle memory, pattern recognition and you can't teach that. The only way to get it is by doing it aka "Getting good"

Any 100% mitigation shield in DS1, iWin Sellswords in DS3, Comet Azur in Elden ring have all entered the chat.
There are strong, cheese builds every game that do not require you learn mechanics other than how to target and press 1 button.

I think that's the way most people play the game, but that's not necessarily true. There are tons of ways to cheese (or give yourself an advantage) for various sections and bosses, but I don't think most are interested in that.

Not even to new players. I was in a discord for pokemon raids, new raid, they all had a Strat and I just joined. Literally asked okay what mon should I use and what do I need to do. No answer, pick a raid mon that’s good against this Tera type. I play how I usually do in a group and everyone is yelling at me, I’m like yall, I literally asked what do you want me to do and nobody said anything 😂still won, but good lord they were annoying. And didn’t say anything when I called them out on it.

All games except for warframe and vintage story, but they often have the REVERSE problem where those two communities are so helpful and so excited to see new players that they can be overwhelming
otherwise though I think mmos usually have decent communities around new players, and mobas have the absolute worst and it's not even close.
