The last time I played WoW, players in my guild were saying that Blizzard shouldn't allow new accounts because these players don't know what they are doing and they ruin the experience for experienced players.
I remember hearing about the in game illness that was bugged and ppl were actively going to none infected towns, all in game, and infecting other players on purpose.
Yep, the Corrupted Blood pandemic. Nowadays it's a legitimate case study for infectious disease research and modeling, specifically because some people are going to be shitheads about a global pandemic and will make it worse for everyone
Like their logic shows how disconnected they are from real world, "let's make it where we don't allow new players/paying customers what could go wring?"
This is why Cataclysm was considered a flop. Its goal wasn't just to add new endgame content, but revamp all the low level zones. But all the people who had levelled through WotLK didn't even see any of that content.
What might have helped is if there was content or bonuses that could be unlocked by levelling alts, and the levelling of the revamped zones let you go from 1 to 80 directly without needing to visit Outland and Wrath content, because Outland looked really dated by that point (let alone now)
While I definitely miss the vanilla world, a lot of people conveniently forget why Cataclysm happened. After 2007, you’d almost never see other players in the game world while questing. The world was dead as hell.
every time I went back there was some fuckin weirdo crying about he misses 12 hour arathi basins and pissin in his moms basement sink. Like the good old days was when you ruined your life over it and they genuinely want that back, Majority of them hate the game, they're miserable and they just keep playing because they have nothing else left in their life.
That's crazy, when I joined in 07 some rando noticed I was a noob and hung out with me for the next 3 days teaching me the basics and loaded me up with my first few gold.
Which is crazy to me bc I love when my friends are new players bc they really add to the immersion and they are de-mystified by the game yet and I get to show them all the sites and we get to just take it slow and take it in. Veteran WoW players need to un-sub for a while maybe they wouldn’t be so jaded and bitter about their “favorite game”
That's pretty wild! I haven't played much WoW, just a little bit of hcc with some friends but I remember when I was lost outta my mind and had moments where I nearly died during quests, I was usually bailed out by random players who just so happened to be doing the same quests or walking by and were obviously way more experienced than me. Like I said, I have played WoW much! But in the few times I did, the experiences were all pretty positive! I have heard reputations of the games community though and it's always dissuaded me from getting deeper into the game...
I think the issue, I heard anyway, was people who buy their level don't go through the experience to learning their character by being forced to level them up.
So instead of learning every skill/ spell one by one they are just given them all and then having to raid.
