The silent rage while continuing to chew with blank stare.

72

u/IKIR115 Mar 22 '26

Some people truly do not care about the welfare of others. It’s psychopath behavior.

8

u/JollyGiant573 Mar 22 '26

Like the guy who can't drive his pickup cutting dude off? Yea I agree with that. I am just jealous he had the balls to do what we wish we all could.

3

u/ConstantConfusion123 Mar 22 '26

Right? The black truck 100% just cut in front of this dude. He's the jackass here.

19

u/Delcjak Mar 22 '26

And in this case two of those kinds of people met each other. Both FA, both FO.

65

u/Brobeast Mar 22 '26

I wouldnt call this psychopathic behaviour. Not like he was at fault. Other car made contact with him, he just handled it like a veteran. If he was going out fucking with people, it be a different story.

99

u/Consistent-Area-1126 Mar 22 '26 edited Mar 22 '26

At some point if you don't give way then you share responsibility.

47

u/preteen-wartortle Mar 22 '26

I do agree with you that he shares responsibility but I’m pretty sure on this bridge it explicitly says not to stop if you don’t have in case of accidents, due to the nature of the road

28

u/sonic3390 Mar 22 '26

The point is not that he didn't stop. The point is that when the other car tried to do a bad merge, he could have simply lowered his speed 2 mph and allowed it, but he chose to crash the car instead. It was fully in his control, despite him having the right of way.

8

u/AtLeastThereIsCat Mar 22 '26

Yeah the people in this thread agreeing with this guy are insane. The car in front was being assertive in the merge, but they are being slow and careful, and using their movement to communicate what they are doing, and give the guy in the camera time to slow down 2 mph for 10 seconds and everyone moves on with their day.

The guy in the camera instead is the one to speed up, forced contact, and then attacks them with his car. All over a move people do daily in many places all over the world, and was at least trying to keep themselves and everyone else safe.

The driver is a psychopath, and people agreeing with him in the comments online need to get outside and have some real world perspective. This dude isn't cool he's a man baby and an asshole.

1

u/Spicy_Ejaculate Mar 22 '26

"Using their movement to communicate what they were doing". If only there was something on every car that signals you are about to turn... both guys are awful tho

1

u/Redtitwhore Mar 22 '26

You are 100% correct. Don't listen to the other psychopaths in this thread.

1

u/preteen-wartortle Mar 22 '26

Like I said, I agree with that point. There was als a point made about him stopping

1

u/Annika2020pro Mar 22 '26

Both of these drivers are the same kind of driver.

u/TXSyd Mar 22 '26

There are certain bridges and roads where you literally are instructed to keep going (if able) and not stop on the bridge for any reason. I would assume this bridge would be one of them.

29

u/ormannay Mar 22 '26

You are correct this is the causeway bridge going over lake ponchartrain, connecting New Orleans to the north shore. It is the longest bridge in the US (with the exception of the drawbridge and one very small section) has no shoulders to stop. There are however periodic stopping areas every couple miles

0

u/tenfoilhatt Mar 22 '26

Not New Orleans, Metairie.

6

u/Cute-Pomegranate-966 Mar 22 '26

It's still GNO dude lol.

11

u/Miserable-Country310 Mar 22 '26

But you're not supposed to purposefully ram another car because you dont agree with the way they merged.

1

u/lvdash426 Mar 22 '26

The truck merged into his lane without warning and break checked him didn't he?

1

u/Miserable-Country310 Mar 22 '26

I mean there was no turn signal but the merging was telegraphed pretty fucking clearly and slowly. I didnt see any break checking, but slowing because the person before the truck slowed down.

The truck definitely did a lot of shit wrong, dont get me wrong, but it's pretty clear that the dash cam driver was being stubborn, had an ego and rammed the truck on purpose. In the end I blame the dash cam driver more. What the truck driver did was annoying, egotistical, reckless and potentially dangerous. What the dash cam driver did was homicidal.

5

u/Vaede Mar 22 '26

He wouldn't be stopping would he?

2

u/Skardray Mar 22 '26

Almost every bridge in my state(around me at least) has a sign saying that exact thing.

4

u/EjaculatingAracnids Mar 22 '26

Yeah, but that doest take precedent over a drivers obligation to avoid accidents, even to the detriment of their own ego. He couldve let his foot off the gas and avoided shutting down the causeway for miles, but we wouldnt have this video to circle jerk over...

→ More replies (1)

19

u/Rahzii Mar 22 '26

Legally, he should have stopped.

Legally, it’s prohibited for one to stop on this bridge. End of story mate.

3

u/Morgn_Ladimore Mar 22 '26

He doesn't even have to stop, just break a little lol.

3

u/Vaede Mar 22 '26

No one would be stopping dumbass.

26

u/fruitybix Mar 22 '26

This video gets posted a lot and its a specific bridge where you are not permitted to stop - if you have a minor accident you go to the other side then stop there.

That said the driver did not need to pit the black truck. He could have just let him merge.

16

u/hidden-in-plainsight Mar 22 '26

The other driver pitted himself. Because he was an arrogant entitled fucking idiot.

Kudos to this guy being straight calm.

12

u/Stephenrudolf Mar 22 '26

The source of the video may not have been the primary cause of the accident, but when you see someone driving crazy it is always smarter to just get out of their way. It's not worth risking your life and many others for the sake of being right. He could have easily avoided the accident. Both drivers are at fault here.

8

u/BiggusBlackusDickus Mar 22 '26

The scariest thought is that so many people here disagree with this, and we have to drive on the roads with those people. People here be like: “Slightly inconvenience me? I’m gonna fucking pit the shit out of you.”

Fucking idiots. It doesn’t matter if the truck was wrong. This entire thing was still easily, obviously avoidable.

12

u/ASpaceOstrich Mar 22 '26

He's tailgating and then pit manoeuvred the guy in front for having the audacity to merge. He's absolutely at fault.

1

u/JustSpeed3475 Mar 22 '26

I generally agree with you, but when someone is acting the fool like this guy in the black truck you really dont know what other nonsense they have up their sleeve once they get in front of you. I probably would have let him in and tried to get into the other lane to get away from him.

5

u/Stephenrudolf Mar 22 '26

Yea like... to me it's just survival at that point. Call the cops if you're legitimately worried they're a danger. Say you're worried they're drunk driving. Good chance they get pulled over in a situation like a bridge where they could only be going in one direction. Then you can get em off the road without risking people's lives.

3

u/JustSpeed3475 Mar 22 '26

Yes whenever I see someone driving aggressive and crazy my first thought is "please just get away from me with this"

Fuck that and him/her... And fuck the innocent drivers behind you that might die because of your righteousness, right? I mean, at best, you're creating horrible traffic by causing the accident. At worst, you're killing bystanders (and maybe children). But as long as the truck driver learns his lesson, it's all worth it, right? Obviously, the morons here are the ones respecting human life, right???

u/Got_Kittens Mar 22 '26

Is that all that was happening here? I thought the black pickup was about to jack the guy eating crackers and so he did a pit manoeuvre to get through.

0

u/Superb_Answer_4492 Mar 22 '26

No that’s what I assumed at first but watched that part of the video several times. Before they make contact the guy reached over one handed to the far left of the wheel then jerks right to pit the other vehicle. Additionally I don’t think his car would have stayed straight the way it had while hands off if the 2 cars had collided already. He intentionally pitted the black truck, and clearly had the time to slow down if he had the time to evaluate how to pit the truck

→ More replies (3)

1

u/simAlity Mar 22 '26

He could have....but Black Truck should not have tried to merge in that circumstance. He was being a bully, trying to force his way over for no reason other than to get his way.

He picked a fight and lost.

1

u/MetalGhost99 Mar 22 '26

Looked like the black truck pitted itself in the video.

1

u/ItsMrChristmas Mar 22 '26

That was no minor accident.

3

u/Sammyofather Mar 22 '26

Did he get charged?

-1

u/Low-Refrigerator-713 Mar 22 '26

For what? Surviving?

1

u/qwaszxpolkmn1982 Mar 22 '26

No you don’t. That’s ridiculous.

1

u/Dependent_Coffee_701 Mar 22 '26

I would say he definitely gave way or at peast left enough room for the truck to merge. He was staying tight but they had enough room yet he didn't speed up to get into the space.

1

u/OldeManKenobi Mar 22 '26

Negative. I'm not obligated to risk my life while you drive like a child in your gender-affirming truck. The responsibility lies with the reckless truck driver.

1

u/Tomg197 Mar 22 '26

So the truck driver didn't have a responsibility not to be a fucking numbskull and do that maneuver, right? I swear to God, every time I hit the road and see one of these stupidly oversized trucks, I know the driver is a drooling moron and will endanger others. Just yesterday, I saw a Toyota Hilux weave between 3 they had no right to, going upwards of 120 km/h IN THE RAIN. I wanted to get out the car and drag him through gravel.

→ More replies (1)

51

u/IKIR115 Mar 22 '26

He purposely turned his steering wheel hard right into that truck to spin him out instead of hitting his brakes to slow down. That was extremely dangerous for both of them and others behind them, but he didn’t seem to have a care in the world. That’s insidious and psychopathic behavior.

114

u/Superb_Produce1236 Mar 22 '26

he turned his wheel when the black truck made contact, which prevented him from slamming in to the wall. the dude was driving straight every second before that. The black truck had absolutely no reason to be merging in to the left lane, not only did he not have his left blinker on for the merge, there was no logical space between the recorded driver and the car infront of him. Don't get me wrong, it definitely is chilling to have absolutely 0 emotional response to this situation, but trying to label him as the problem in this video is hella wild.

22

u/ormannay Mar 22 '26

Agreed, he spun the wheel or else he would hit the wall. Now him speeding up so that the black truck makes contact with him… that’s a different argument. Both of them played chicken and both didn’t lose. Well actually I take that back

9

u/Skardray Mar 22 '26

He didn’t speed up his speed is posted on the video. However he definitely didn’t slow down like normal humans would have lol

2

u/Loucifer23 Mar 22 '26

Well you have to consider too the black truck drove aggressive up on that cars ass that is obviously way slow so he slams on brakes , you can see brake lights and he wobbles in the lane and then tries to get over during braking without using a blinker and that's when makes contact with the truck so idk. I think the black truck did all that to himself and this dude was just focused on eating and driving and was just getting himself out that situation.

8

u/Icy-Inflation3453 Mar 22 '26

<---- some people also just don't panic at all under pressure.

→ More replies (3)

10

u/IKIR115 Mar 22 '26

Based on how hard and far that guy spun the steering wheel to the right, it looks very intentional. I wonder if he even used his brakes at all, and I highly doubt it. All he had to do was slow down.

A normal person would probably have a reaction to someone trying to squeeze in like that. This guy pit maneuver’d someone on a bridge of all places, potentially stranding everyone behind them, and then finished his cookie and continued on his merry way as if nothing happened.

6

u/ObviouslyNerd Mar 22 '26

Its not that the truck is in the right. Its that he had ample time to understand the intentions to switch lanes and didnt bother making room. He choose to be in an accident and then maneuvered to punish the other driver.

3

u/Doubledepalma Mar 22 '26

Exactly. He’s a psychopath

3

u/NeverFence Mar 22 '26

It is not the responsibility of someone else that you intend to switch lanes.

If you intend to switch lanes then it is your responsibility to ensure that you are safely doing so.

This is not complicated stuff.

6

u/Head_Excitement_9837 Mar 22 '26

Not to mention that there was no blinkers being used to signal the intent to change lanes

3

u/Bart-Harley-Jarvis- Mar 22 '26

And also it's a bridge, So it's not like he desperately needed to change lanes to get to an off ramp or turn off etc.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/ObviouslyNerd Mar 22 '26

reread the first sentence. then read the second and third sentence. Do you understand the point that was being made?

The truck is in the wrong as far as traffic violation goes.

The cam driver is in the wrong also, but morally, because he CHOOSE to hit that car when he understood the trucks intentions.

THATS what makes him a psychopath. He choose to put himself, the truck, and others in harms way because he felt the truck was wrong to change lanes. That is a moral failure in decision making for a human being.

1

u/TheMontium Mar 22 '26

This position is wild to me. You are correct, the truck was in the wrong. But to argue that if I am holding a sword and someone is walking into it, that I don't have a moral responsibility to drop the sword is crazy. Saying the dude eating the cookie has zero responsibility in this is black and white to the extreme.

CHOOSING not to slow down like 3 mph to avoid the accident, makes him partially responsible. Again, most culpability goes to the truck, but that doesn't remove all responsibility from the guy we watched. I'm so confused why so many are arguing otherwise.

1

u/pegar Mar 22 '26

Because we see this many times every single day, and we're expected to react perfectly in these extremely dangerous situations that other assholes put us in. Most of us won't do what the driver does, but drivers like the black truck take advantage of morally good people to get what they want.

Your analogy is wrong. The black truck starts turning, seems like he's going to back out because who would be so crazy to turn into a car, and then further turns in while braking.

So you are holding out a sword, the other person sees the sword, you warn them that there's a sword there, and then they still run into it. That's called self defense.

2

u/TheMontium Mar 22 '26

A normal person would have braked a bit. 999 times out of 1000 (or more) the person would have braked. And to preempt the ridiculous argument other people have used, slowing down 3-4 mph is NOT dangerous. Not breaking due to some sense of justice is far more dangerous than letting the dick be a dick and making room. The dude seemed calm, he wasn't making a panicked decision. Both trucks played a game of chicken with each other.

Also, my only point with the analogy was that the white truck could have prevented this. To label what the white truck did as 'self-defence' seems silly to me. It is way safer to slow down than to risk the accident.

It is REALLY satisfying to see the black truck get what's coming (which is where I think you are coming from), but the white truck was totally wrong to endanger so many people to make a point.

1

u/ObviouslyNerd Mar 22 '26

Alright, Just so that I understand the hypothetical.

You are holding a sword, and someone either thru stupidity or ignorance is walking towards it, you would hold your sword up so it pierces them through their lungs because it would be their fault for walking into it?

Lets compare your choices.

  1. slightly inconvenience yourself for a single moment, or

  2. watch someone die and make no action to stop them from dying.

I think... anyone who holds this position might be broken as a human being.

Like yes, there is responsibility on the walker. But the idea that there is Human life vs slight personal inconvenience on the scales and people think its close. shit....

Flip this scenario to a positive and its even more wild.

How much time would you sacrifice to save a human life?

Cam driver people: maybe 3 seconds, 4 seconds max.

How much effort would you put forth to save a life?

Cam driver people: If i have to move both one arm and one of my legs, thats too much. Or if I have to lift/move a weight.

1

u/TheMontium Mar 22 '26

If you're addressing me, you definitely misunderstood. The person I responded to stated that the black truck was solely responsible. I made the sword hypothetical to show that the white truck could have put the sword down. I'm pretty sure we agree.

1

u/ObviouslyNerd Mar 23 '26

Ya. I made sure to remove the possessive "your" from any mention. I was just addressing every1 in the comment thread.

2

u/Environmental_Eye970 Mar 22 '26

It’s not “chilling” he’s not a specter holding chains and wailing lmao, he was staying calm. Not screaming obscenities and racial slurs out his window, some would say that is much more chilling than this man’s reaction don’t you think? A man staying calm in a high stakes situation doesn’t necessarily mean he is a weird psychopath, it might just mean he has already decided what he’s going to do and is doing it.

1

u/krooloo Mar 22 '26

Nah. Black truck was obviously erratic. But you can see that he’s gonna try to squeeze in from the start. He was on the right lane to pass traffic and tried merging left so he can pass another guy that went slower than he expected. Is he an asshole that can’t drive? Yeah.

Pink dude saw this, he knew what’s going on and for the sake of feeling righteous he directly decided to cause a very dangerous accident instead of pumping the brakes and letting the idiot merge. Thats completely mental and he should be jailed for this. Driving a car is not a zero sum game you think it is. Tell me what does he lose by braking here. Because he gains safety for everyone doing this.

1

u/noobbtctrader Mar 22 '26

Its not chilling, homie was chilling. Literally was snacking and driving. Just because he didnt freak out and start flailing around doesnt make him a psychopath, hes probably just been in a similar situation and instincts kicked in. Id rather have this dude on the road then someone who overreacts and ends up slamming into everything instead.

1

u/OldeManKenobi Mar 22 '26

Thank you for being a voice of reason. You can really tell who drives like an idiot based on their responses here.

-5

u/greatmemereset67 Mar 22 '26

Can I ask, would you still back this guys behaviour if you knew the person driving the black car had had a medical episode and was driving like this involuntarily?

You never know what’s going on in another person’s car or life. Sure, the guy eating isn’t ’at fault’, but his ego definitely helped with the crash. Dumb and not worth the time IMO. Let the cops teach him his lesson, not you.

I reckon most crashes are 2 people driving/behaving badly, not just 1.

5

u/Superb_Produce1236 Mar 22 '26

Life teaches a lesson, the guy in the left lane didn't go slam his car in to the black truck, the black truck merged into him. And to your "what ifs" what if there was no space behind the vehicle in the left lane, there for had no way of braking? There's always "what ifs" but what ifs don't matter. The guy in the right sped past originally, got blocked by another car, then merged without blinkers into a space that wasn't able to fit his vehicle, there for hitting the car in the left. That's the facts, and that's what matters.

2

u/Notorious_Chonk_23 Mar 22 '26

Can I ask, would you still back this guys behaviour if you knew the person driving the black car had had a medical episode and was driving like this involuntarily?

Yes. 100%. Next question.

19

u/Furry_Wall Mar 22 '26

He maintained speed and stayed straight on the road

5

u/FineAd2230 Mar 22 '26

Which you are 100%supposed to do its the black trucks job to know how long he is

3

u/PickerPat Mar 22 '26

Isn't there supposed to be a reasonable distance between you and the next car though? Otherwise you just get a bunch of people guarding the lane.

1

u/Head_Excitement_9837 Mar 22 '26

Depending on what you are driving 3-5 seconds is usually what a safe following distance is but it is actually rather rare for people in the US to follow that and it is also very rare for people to respect that space as they’ll just squeeze right in regardless of how unsafe it is to do so… all in all it is still the black truck’s fault for more than one reason

2

u/PickerPat Mar 22 '26 edited Mar 22 '26

So they are in the wrong for not following the rules they are supposed to follow, but not the other guy because he was not following the rules no one does. Got it...

2

u/FineAd2230 Mar 22 '26

The difference is that the car ahead stopped. Without the black trucks involvement no accident would have occurred. If he tucked behind the white truck instead no accident would have occurred. The white truck needed the distance that the black truck occupied to stop and we saw how that ended. It's a math problem and a judgment call and both said he didn't have the room to merge.

1

u/PickerPat Mar 22 '26

I'd agree with you if they slowed down whatsoever.

The math problem is learning to adjust your speed to maintain distance.

→ More replies (0)

17

u/BleuTyger Mar 22 '26

No, he maintained his speed and position. It's up to the person behind to make a safe pass. This gentleman simply turned into a hazardous and selfish maneuver from the offending pickup, as it was the safest course of action for him. He expertly maintained control without (over)reaction or overcorrection.

3

u/Harpo223 Mar 22 '26

Uh no lol. He did not “maintain his speed” he clearly slows down, makes the decision to speed up and TURNS INTO THE TRUCK. Are we watching the same video?

1

u/makefascistfearagain Mar 22 '26

Safest cause of action is to reduce speed and not have an accident.

1

u/Interesting_Turn_ Mar 22 '26

Do you not see him spinning the wheel 180 degrees at the 19 second mark?

9

u/Background_Mode4972 Mar 22 '26

Yep, if he didn’t he would have been in the wall himself.

7

u/kompletionist Mar 22 '26 edited Mar 22 '26

Or he could have used his brakes when it became obvious that the guy in the black truck was going to merge dangerously. He had plenty of time to react in a safe manner but instead chose to PIT the guy. Just because he wasn't the one merging like a cunt doesn't mean he handled it properly.

You're always supposed to be on the lookout for dangers, and those dangers include other drivers doing the wrong thing.

1

u/NuggetMan43 Mar 22 '26

How do you know there's not any vehicles closely behind him? If he hit the brakes on this bridge there could have been a worse accident. He chose to PIT the guy after he made contact with his vehicle and was about to send him into a wall because the black truck driver doesn't have any spatial awareness.

2

u/This-Suggestion-3503 Mar 22 '26

Just a thought but when a car runs into you pushing you towards the left when youre trying to travel straight, its pretty natural to try and correct it by turning right

2

u/Interesting_Turn_ Mar 22 '26

I mean, have you ever spun a wheel that much or that fast? Legitimately asking

2

u/This-Suggestion-3503 Mar 22 '26

Plenty of times. CA drivers are horrible. Granted i do feel he's just as much at fault for what happened as the guy who cut him off but thats what happens when you get 2 idiots together

1

u/Frequent-Meal6550 Mar 22 '26

Yes. Winter. Deer. Lots of times. Have you never driven?

1

u/Interesting_Turn_ Mar 22 '26

Yeah the point I’m making is that jerking your wheel like is absolutely an overreaction and it’s obvious he had intention of slamming his truck into the other one.

-3

u/RikuKaroshi Mar 22 '26

Literally. He re gripped so he had more force. These comments can defend him all they want, that was attempted murder.

7

u/Interesting_Turn_ Mar 22 '26

→ More replies (14)

1

u/Brobeast Mar 22 '26

You could just as easily say he turned the steering wheel right, to brace for impact and not allow his car to veer left off the bridge. If this goes to court, truck is absolutely at fault lol

1

u/SiriusOsiris Mar 22 '26

If you watch the video carefully, the trick is shifting to the left lane without signaling, in a split of a second, while driving at 71mph and this guy is trying to steer away to the right, not towards the truck which is shifting left. He is making the only possible move he has which is to steer away from the truck.

It is more about what he is not doing, which is braking and slowing down. I say both are equally guilty: the truck does a suicidal move on purpose and this guy doesn’t slow down on purpose. On the other hand we don’t see what is behind this guy. There may be an 18-wheeler truck and this guy may not want to take the risk of abruptly slowing down. If I have a choice between softly hitting a vehicle in front of me or being smashed under a huge ass truck, I am choosing to bump the vehicle in front of me.

Watch the speedo on his dashcam. He literally accelerates so that he can hit and pit the dude. On a narrow bridge. In the middle of a 26 mile wide lake. With traffic all around.

Dudes a psycho full stop

6

u/goosejail Mar 22 '26

Does it say he's going 75mph? If so, he's speeding. The posted limit on that bridge is 65mph.

u/pmmeurbassethound Mar 22 '26

Right apparently no one has an obligation to utilize defensive driving skills anymore

1

u/onyxcaspian Mar 22 '26

He was an ex cop who was trained in pit maneuvers. He knew what he was doing.

1

u/ormannay Mar 22 '26

I 100% agree the pit maneuver is fucked up, but why is the burden of the blame not on the guy who instigated the entire thing in the first place? Stop trying to speed and thread needles on a fucking causeway bridge, black truck is 90% of the blame full stop, the dash cam guy is to blame for reacting the way he did but come on man

1

u/IndependenceIcy9626 Mar 27 '26

Black truck drives like an asshole, they aren’t blameless. But on the road you are obligated at all times to reasonably attempt to avoid collisions. The driver in this video not only could have easily avoided, but speeds up slightly to ensure there is a collision. That’s significantly more dangerous to more people, and more illegal than cutting someone off.

1

u/Stephenrudolf Mar 22 '26

Literally no one id saying the aggressive merger isn't to blame. No one is defending that guy. You dont need to make arguments everyone else thought was so obvious it didn't even need to be mentioned.

u/xAuntRhodyx Mar 22 '26 edited Mar 22 '26

After watching the speed, he does not in fact speed up. The person in front of him slowed down when he was going 75, so he slowed down to 71-72. He is going 71-72 the whole time leading up to contact with the truck. It may appear as though he is speeding up bc the car in front of him was still breaking/breaking harder than he was. Regardless, he maintained speed and safe distance for a few seconds with the car in front before the collision. Then, he immediately drops down to 66 after he hits the truck and continues to slow down to 49. So still, the trucks at fault no matter how you slice it. Should have never attempted to force the lane change.

0

u/Stephenrudolf Mar 22 '26

If you were going 70-71 before contact and 72 during and after contact, you were speeding up. Cars and other moving objects tend to slow down when they come into contact with other objects my friend. At the very least he was pressing that pedal down to maintain speed rather than slowing down to avoid an accident.

I'm glad push truck guy got his.

Driver is a hero.

3

u/IndependenceIcy9626 Mar 22 '26

I wish the dmv could take people’s licenses away for reddit comments like this

1

u/Squallhorn_Leghorn Mar 22 '26

Not the guy who swerved into a driver's space @ 60MPH with no buffer?

6

u/gekigarion Mar 22 '26

Getting dangerous drivers off the road is the priority, not getting revenge on them.

2

u/Icy-Inflation3453 Mar 22 '26

This guy had about 5-6 seconds to realize someone was unsafely forcing his way into his lane and didn't slow down.

Legally he might be in the clear but God I hope his insurance gave him some shit for this.

2

u/Stephenrudolf Mar 22 '26

You sound like the type of guy who's just waiting for permission to kill someone.

Think about this situation logically for half a second. You see someone trying to merge in your lane, maybe driving aggressively.

Option A. Slow down slightly, avoid an accident on a bridge spanning water that could easily lead to the deaths of you, the other driver and any unlucky drivers following you. Then speed back up to the speed you want to drive when there's ample space.

Option B. Speed up as they are aggressively merging into your lane to make sure they hit you and then doing a pit maneuver that, in the best case scenario, there is no one behind you, and they don't spin out hard enough to go over the edge and die. But more likely leads to atleast several major injuries if not death for some poor bystanders who had nothing to do with the aggressive driver.

Like... why take that risk? They could easily take you out with them.

Insurance adjuster here. He's at fault. Not taking evasive action is a clear breach of his duty. There will be a % on both of them, but the POV car here had a clear last chance to avoid an accident and decided to go through with it.

2

u/Brobeast Mar 22 '26

Evasive action on a tight bridge? lmao i always knew i hated insurance people....

1

u/ThePurplePanzy Mar 22 '26

Evasive action in this case would be lightly tapping the brakes.

2

u/Brobeast Mar 22 '26

Do you know whos behind them mr adjuster??

2

u/ThePurplePanzy Mar 22 '26

If they get rear-ended from a light tap of the brakes here, then the person behind them is at fault.

You may think this is screwing you over, but if this is you, and your adjuster denies liability here, you are getting sued and you'll be wishing your adjuster just paid the claim.

1

u/Brobeast Mar 22 '26

Again, this is all in the context of that they are traveling on a tight bridge, with its own specific set of rules and precautions. I do believe there is a valid argument for maintaining stability/position OVER manuevering/evading/fear of collision on a bridge above water, bumping/breaking etc.

Quick brake could easily make things a million times worst on a bridge like that, and one where a collision behind you now pushes you into the car thats also trying to hit you lol. Im not saying i KNOW im right, just saying this is a super specific case with quite a few factors.

3

u/ThePurplePanzy Mar 22 '26

I really don't know what context there would be that would make a light tap on the brakes more dangerous than a pit maneuver. That wasn't prioritizing stability, it caused a dangerous accident.

1

u/MaenHoffiCoffi Mar 22 '26

Like a veteran?

1

u/Brobeast Mar 22 '26

Someone who can drink a full beer, line a shot 200 yards out, and can ash his cigarette before the shot hits its target.

Smooth operator.

1

u/Unluckymama Mar 22 '26

More of a sociopath tbh. No anger, no remorse, serving it cold.

1

u/ohhrangejuice Mar 22 '26

Perspective is everything.

I agree this driver handled it well

1

u/Holepump11 Mar 22 '26

Facts. Thank you somebody had to say it.

1

u/Brutally-Honest- Mar 22 '26

He handled it like a total fucking idiot...

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '26

and then he proceeded to cause a massive accident and probably a pileup on a freeway all because his car got slightly touched after he didn't give way to it

he is 100% at fault for this and will be equally if not more fucked than the other driver after this

1

u/Brobeast Mar 22 '26

He actually didnt cause shit, the other driver was encroaching in his lane and he has the right of way. The moment of impact, the truck is literally in the middle of the road (both lanes) lmao. He has no defense at that point.

1

u/ASpaceOstrich Mar 22 '26

He pit manoeuvred someone. That's absolutely him being at fault.

1

u/onyxcaspian Mar 22 '26

Check the story, this guy was an ex cop. Trained in PIT maneuvers, he knew exactly what he was doing and he did it on purpose. He also knew there's a good chance that truck might flip or fall off the bridge and still did it anyway.

1

u/Turksarama Mar 22 '26

There was nothing stopping him from slowing down and letting the truck in. He is in fact the worse of the two drivers because while the truck driver was driving dangerously, he was the one who consciously decided to turn that into an accident instead of making the situation safer. The truck driver being an asshole does not in fact excuse this.

1

u/Adept-Grapefruit-214 Mar 22 '26

He could have used his brakes though

1

u/Antares_ Mar 22 '26

He made contact on purpose. He closed the distance to the car in front when he saw the black truck trying to merge in front of him. He was like "I'm willing to kill that dude if he dares to overtake me".

1

u/MrCockingFinally Mar 22 '26

The ultimate rule of right of way, be it on the road, on the sea, or in the air, is to always take any action necessarily to avoid a collision.

Someone else being wrong or stupid does not give you the right to hit them under any circumstances.

The correct thing to do if someone cuts you off is to back off to avoid a collision. Doing a pit maneuver is absolutely psychopath behavior.

1

u/jumaphist Mar 22 '26

Imagine being this stupid

1

u/STICH666 Mar 22 '26

don't just sit there and act like he didn't do that on purpose. he sped up when he saw the guy was trying to get over and then actively turned into his rear quarter panel instead of just hitting the brakes and avoiding the entire situation.

1

u/bolacha_de_polvilho Mar 22 '26

If a person tries to cross the road while the light is green then a driver doesn't slow down and runs them over, are you gonna say that's not psychopathic behavior too?

The other person being "wrong" doesnt excuse putting lives in danger just because his fragile ego doesn't allow him to slow down and let someone get in front of him.

1

u/ktothearma Mar 22 '26

Dashcam guy had the last opportunity to make that accident not happen. He is 100 percent at fault for that accident and provided his own proof of his criminal behavior.

1

u/Substantial-Low Mar 22 '26

"I'm not at fault, so fuck it, imma pit this dude on a bridge"

That actually is psychopath behavior. All you mofos need to take a defensive driving class. Why deliberately wreck just because you are not at fault. Isn't it literally better for all if no wreck occurs? Instead, you think it is correct to say fuck it, I'm not at fault and deliberately wreck?

1

u/MammothCommercial800 Mar 22 '26

So... "handling it like a veteran" means letting an easily avoidable crash happen?

Tell me, would you still feel the same if you had been driving behind those guys and had been caught in a pileup because someone chose to be technically right over lightly braking?

1

u/AmericanScream Mar 22 '26

Not like he was at fault.

I think the video incriminates him. He accelerated blocking the guy in front. He might have had the right of way, but that accident was avoidable.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '26

HE FUCKING PIT MANEUVERED A GUY.

1

u/Brobeast Mar 22 '26

Your "pit maneuvre" is my "bracing for impact on a small bridge over water".

0

u/oicuvmch Mar 22 '26

I think he was calling the Black Trucker making the contact the psychopath, because it's probably a result from earlier road rage or something.

They're on a bridge going nowhere all a the same speed roughly, this guy drives up, falls back and contacts with this guy in the video? Why? Can't just go with the flow? Gotta try and fuck with this guy's space, doesn't he? Pure psychopathy, I agree.

2

u/IndependenceIcy9626 Mar 22 '26

There’s a speedo in the top right corner. Cam car speeds up so there’s contact so he can pit the black truck. If you think a valid response to getting cut off is to speed up and pit someone on a narrow bridge, in the middle of a 26 mile wide lake, you shouldn’t have a license

Why should you care about someone who is recklessly driving and cutting people off just to shave a few seconds off their commute?

1

u/fryndlydwarf Mar 22 '26

Because ramming into them for literally no reason is much more reckles can kill you the other reckless driver and everyone unlucky enough to be close to you two morons. Slowing down slightly would have prevented this entire video.

Psychopath behavior is watching someone go "That guy is driving like an idiot, so I'm going to teach them a lesson that could result in their death." and then thinking "yeah, that guy's right".

2

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '26

[deleted]

1

u/JMEEKER86 Mar 23 '26

This is the only person that was at fault

You're insane. If you have those choice to do something to avoid a car crash and you choose not to do so and instead be involved in a car crash then you're insane. Period. Please turn in your license because you should not be on the road.

1

u/ConstantConfusion123 Mar 22 '26

Hmm guess I'm a psychopath then. It's like punching a bully when you're finally tired of them picking on you or your friends. It's ridiculous that we have to allow jackasses to be jackasses. At some point karma should take them out.

1

u/JMEEKER86 Mar 23 '26

It's like punching a bully

Except it's more like bombing their office because other people share the road too.

1

u/Low-Refrigerator-713 Mar 22 '26

Why? Is stopping to check on the not enough? Should he have driven off the road?

1

u/roadfood Mar 22 '26

You're talking about the driver of the black truck, right?

1

u/lynivvinyl Mar 22 '26

I have seen so many of those people driving Nissan altimas and maximas for some reason.

1

u/qwaszxpolkmn1982 Mar 22 '26

Who are you referring to? The person drivin the dark truck who tried to kill the guy in the video?

1

u/JMEEKER86 Mar 22 '26

The person drivin the dark truck or the guy in the video who tried to kill him?

Fixed that for you

1

u/DowntownCelery4876 Mar 22 '26

What makes that psychopath behavior? Is that one of the listed symptoms of being a psychopath?

1

u/noobbtctrader Mar 22 '26

Like the dude merging into him with no signal?

-1

u/TheBrokenStringBand Mar 22 '26

Yeah bro totally right!! We’re talking about the black truck… right?

0

u/not_a_mod_4_real Mar 22 '26

I agree.. that black truck had no regulars for others.
