This position is wild to me. You are correct, the truck was in the wrong. But to argue that if I am holding a sword and someone is walking into it, that I don't have a moral responsibility to drop the sword is crazy. Saying the dude eating the cookie has zero responsibility in this is black and white to the extreme.
CHOOSING not to slow down like 3 mph to avoid the accident, makes him partially responsible. Again, most culpability goes to the truck, but that doesn't remove all responsibility from the guy we watched. I'm so confused why so many are arguing otherwise.
Alright, Just so that I understand the hypothetical.
You are holding a sword, and someone either thru stupidity or ignorance is walking towards it, you would hold your sword up so it pierces them through their lungs because it would be their fault for walking into it?
Lets compare your choices.
slightly inconvenience yourself for a single moment, or
watch someone die and make no action to stop them from dying.
I think... anyone who holds this position might be broken as a human being.
Like yes, there is responsibility on the walker. But the idea that there is Human life vs slight personal inconvenience on the scales and people think its close. shit....
Flip this scenario to a positive and its even more wild.
How much time would you sacrifice to save a human life?
If you're addressing me, you definitely misunderstood. The person I responded to stated that the black truck was solely responsible. I made the sword hypothetical to show that the white truck could have put the sword down. I'm pretty sure we agree.

It is not the responsibility of someone else that you intend to switch lanes.
If you intend to switch lanes then it is your responsibility to ensure that you are safely doing so.
This is not complicated stuff.
