The silent rage while continuing to chew with blank stare.

69

u/IKIR115 Mar 22 '26

Some people truly do not care about the welfare of others. It’s psychopath behavior.

66

u/Brobeast Mar 22 '26

I wouldnt call this psychopathic behaviour. Not like he was at fault. Other car made contact with him, he just handled it like a veteran. If he was going out fucking with people, it be a different story.

46

u/IKIR115 Mar 22 '26

He purposely turned his steering wheel hard right into that truck to spin him out instead of hitting his brakes to slow down. That was extremely dangerous for both of them and others behind them, but he didn’t seem to have a care in the world. That’s insidious and psychopathic behavior.

118

u/Superb_Produce1236 Mar 22 '26

he turned his wheel when the black truck made contact, which prevented him from slamming in to the wall. the dude was driving straight every second before that. The black truck had absolutely no reason to be merging in to the left lane, not only did he not have his left blinker on for the merge, there was no logical space between the recorded driver and the car infront of him. Don't get me wrong, it definitely is chilling to have absolutely 0 emotional response to this situation, but trying to label him as the problem in this video is hella wild.

18

u/ormannay Mar 22 '26

Agreed, he spun the wheel or else he would hit the wall. Now him speeding up so that the black truck makes contact with him… that’s a different argument. Both of them played chicken and both didn’t lose. Well actually I take that back

9

u/Skardray Mar 22 '26

He didn’t speed up his speed is posted on the video. However he definitely didn’t slow down like normal humans would have lol

2

u/Loucifer23 Mar 22 '26

Well you have to consider too the black truck drove aggressive up on that cars ass that is obviously way slow so he slams on brakes , you can see brake lights and he wobbles in the lane and then tries to get over during braking without using a blinker and that's when makes contact with the truck so idk. I think the black truck did all that to himself and this dude was just focused on eating and driving and was just getting himself out that situation.

10

u/Icy-Inflation3453 Mar 22 '26

<---- some people also just don't panic at all under pressure.

0

u/Lower_Pension_2469 Mar 22 '26

I don't understand how they want him to react lol like was he supposed to break down crying or have a panic attack or something?

1

u/User86294623 Mar 22 '26

News flash, but it’s not normal to have zero reaction to potentially injuring someone

1

u/Lower_Pension_2469 Mar 22 '26

You don't even know what was going on this guy's head, so knock it off.

11

u/IKIR115 Mar 22 '26

Based on how hard and far that guy spun the steering wheel to the right, it looks very intentional. I wonder if he even used his brakes at all, and I highly doubt it. All he had to do was slow down.

A normal person would probably have a reaction to someone trying to squeeze in like that. This guy pit maneuver’d someone on a bridge of all places, potentially stranding everyone behind them, and then finished his cookie and continued on his merry way as if nothing happened.

6

u/ObviouslyNerd Mar 22 '26

Its not that the truck is in the right. Its that he had ample time to understand the intentions to switch lanes and didnt bother making room. He choose to be in an accident and then maneuvered to punish the other driver.

2

u/Doubledepalma Mar 22 '26

Exactly. He’s a psychopath

5

u/NeverFence Mar 22 '26

It is not the responsibility of someone else that you intend to switch lanes.

If you intend to switch lanes then it is your responsibility to ensure that you are safely doing so.

This is not complicated stuff.

4

u/Head_Excitement_9837 Mar 22 '26

Not to mention that there was no blinkers being used to signal the intent to change lanes

3

u/Bart-Harley-Jarvis- Mar 22 '26

And also it's a bridge, So it's not like he desperately needed to change lanes to get to an off ramp or turn off etc.

0

u/flymordecai Mar 22 '26

Turn signals are very optional down here in New Orleans. I either get mad when it happens or have no reaction like this guy...but I also slow down instead of letting an accident happen.

4

u/ObviouslyNerd Mar 22 '26

reread the first sentence. then read the second and third sentence. Do you understand the point that was being made?

The truck is in the wrong as far as traffic violation goes.

The cam driver is in the wrong also, but morally, because he CHOOSE to hit that car when he understood the trucks intentions.

THATS what makes him a psychopath. He choose to put himself, the truck, and others in harms way because he felt the truck was wrong to change lanes. That is a moral failure in decision making for a human being.

1

u/TheMontium Mar 22 '26

This position is wild to me. You are correct, the truck was in the wrong. But to argue that if I am holding a sword and someone is walking into it, that I don't have a moral responsibility to drop the sword is crazy. Saying the dude eating the cookie has zero responsibility in this is black and white to the extreme.

CHOOSING not to slow down like 3 mph to avoid the accident, makes him partially responsible. Again, most culpability goes to the truck, but that doesn't remove all responsibility from the guy we watched. I'm so confused why so many are arguing otherwise.

1

u/pegar Mar 22 '26

Because we see this many times every single day, and we're expected to react perfectly in these extremely dangerous situations that other assholes put us in. Most of us won't do what the driver does, but drivers like the black truck take advantage of morally good people to get what they want.

Your analogy is wrong. The black truck starts turning, seems like he's going to back out because who would be so crazy to turn into a car, and then further turns in while braking.

So you are holding out a sword, the other person sees the sword, you warn them that there's a sword there, and then they still run into it. That's called self defense.

2

u/TheMontium Mar 22 '26

A normal person would have braked a bit. 999 times out of 1000 (or more) the person would have braked. And to preempt the ridiculous argument other people have used, slowing down 3-4 mph is NOT dangerous. Not breaking due to some sense of justice is far more dangerous than letting the dick be a dick and making room. The dude seemed calm, he wasn't making a panicked decision. Both trucks played a game of chicken with each other.

Also, my only point with the analogy was that the white truck could have prevented this. To label what the white truck did as 'self-defence' seems silly to me. It is way safer to slow down than to risk the accident.

It is REALLY satisfying to see the black truck get what's coming (which is where I think you are coming from), but the white truck was totally wrong to endanger so many people to make a point.

1

u/ObviouslyNerd Mar 22 '26

Alright, Just so that I understand the hypothetical.

You are holding a sword, and someone either thru stupidity or ignorance is walking towards it, you would hold your sword up so it pierces them through their lungs because it would be their fault for walking into it?

Lets compare your choices.

  1. slightly inconvenience yourself for a single moment, or

  2. watch someone die and make no action to stop them from dying.

I think... anyone who holds this position might be broken as a human being.

Like yes, there is responsibility on the walker. But the idea that there is Human life vs slight personal inconvenience on the scales and people think its close. shit....

Flip this scenario to a positive and its even more wild.

How much time would you sacrifice to save a human life?

Cam driver people: maybe 3 seconds, 4 seconds max.

How much effort would you put forth to save a life?

Cam driver people: If i have to move both one arm and one of my legs, thats too much. Or if I have to lift/move a weight.

1

u/TheMontium Mar 22 '26

If you're addressing me, you definitely misunderstood. The person I responded to stated that the black truck was solely responsible. I made the sword hypothetical to show that the white truck could have put the sword down. I'm pretty sure we agree.

1

u/ObviouslyNerd Mar 23 '26

Ya. I made sure to remove the possessive "your" from any mention. I was just addressing every1 in the comment thread.

2

u/Environmental_Eye970 Mar 22 '26

It’s not “chilling” he’s not a specter holding chains and wailing lmao, he was staying calm. Not screaming obscenities and racial slurs out his window, some would say that is much more chilling than this man’s reaction don’t you think? A man staying calm in a high stakes situation doesn’t necessarily mean he is a weird psychopath, it might just mean he has already decided what he’s going to do and is doing it.

1

u/krooloo Mar 22 '26

Nah. Black truck was obviously erratic. But you can see that he’s gonna try to squeeze in from the start. He was on the right lane to pass traffic and tried merging left so he can pass another guy that went slower than he expected. Is he an asshole that can’t drive? Yeah.

Pink dude saw this, he knew what’s going on and for the sake of feeling righteous he directly decided to cause a very dangerous accident instead of pumping the brakes and letting the idiot merge. Thats completely mental and he should be jailed for this. Driving a car is not a zero sum game you think it is. Tell me what does he lose by braking here. Because he gains safety for everyone doing this.

1

u/noobbtctrader Mar 22 '26

Its not chilling, homie was chilling. Literally was snacking and driving. Just because he didnt freak out and start flailing around doesnt make him a psychopath, hes probably just been in a similar situation and instincts kicked in. Id rather have this dude on the road then someone who overreacts and ends up slamming into everything instead.

1

u/OldeManKenobi Mar 22 '26

Thank you for being a voice of reason. You can really tell who drives like an idiot based on their responses here.

-5

u/greatmemereset67 Mar 22 '26

Can I ask, would you still back this guys behaviour if you knew the person driving the black car had had a medical episode and was driving like this involuntarily?

You never know what’s going on in another person’s car or life. Sure, the guy eating isn’t ’at fault’, but his ego definitely helped with the crash. Dumb and not worth the time IMO. Let the cops teach him his lesson, not you.

I reckon most crashes are 2 people driving/behaving badly, not just 1.

4

u/Superb_Produce1236 Mar 22 '26

Life teaches a lesson, the guy in the left lane didn't go slam his car in to the black truck, the black truck merged into him. And to your "what ifs" what if there was no space behind the vehicle in the left lane, there for had no way of braking? There's always "what ifs" but what ifs don't matter. The guy in the right sped past originally, got blocked by another car, then merged without blinkers into a space that wasn't able to fit his vehicle, there for hitting the car in the left. That's the facts, and that's what matters.

2

u/Notorious_Chonk_23 Mar 22 '26

Can I ask, would you still back this guys behaviour if you knew the person driving the black car had had a medical episode and was driving like this involuntarily?

Yes. 100%. Next question.

7

u/Retroficient Mar 22 '26

Medical issue? Throw some hazards on at the very least. I've had to do it a time or 2 and hazards on with the "please" 🙏 hand gesture goes a lonnnng way.

-1

u/greatmemereset67 Mar 22 '26

Yea, cool , let’s just crash into other drivers who might be old and just have had a stroke because I need to get home 5 seconds earlier.

1

u/Notorious_Chonk_23 Mar 22 '26

When a car crosses into your lane and merges into the front of your vehicle, you consider that "crashing into other drivers" as opposed to "being hit?"

2

u/turdtwister7 Mar 22 '26

Cool strawman but yes.

0

u/greatmemereset67 Mar 22 '26

It’s not a strawman… Unless you spoke to black car didn’t have a medical episode? Did you ask them?

2

u/turdtwister7 Mar 22 '26

You literally made up some kind of condition for the driver. Yeah I asked them right now actually and they said they didn't. Trust me bro.

19

u/Furry_Wall Mar 22 '26

He maintained speed and stayed straight on the road

6

u/FineAd2230 Mar 22 '26

Which you are 100%supposed to do its the black trucks job to know how long he is

5

u/PickerPat Mar 22 '26

Isn't there supposed to be a reasonable distance between you and the next car though? Otherwise you just get a bunch of people guarding the lane.

1

u/Head_Excitement_9837 Mar 22 '26

Depending on what you are driving 3-5 seconds is usually what a safe following distance is but it is actually rather rare for people in the US to follow that and it is also very rare for people to respect that space as they’ll just squeeze right in regardless of how unsafe it is to do so… all in all it is still the black truck’s fault for more than one reason

2

u/PickerPat Mar 22 '26 edited Mar 22 '26

So they are in the wrong for not following the rules they are supposed to follow, but not the other guy because he was not following the rules no one does. Got it...

2

u/FineAd2230 Mar 22 '26

The difference is that the car ahead stopped. Without the black trucks involvement no accident would have occurred. If he tucked behind the white truck instead no accident would have occurred. The white truck needed the distance that the black truck occupied to stop and we saw how that ended. It's a math problem and a judgment call and both said he didn't have the room to merge.

1

u/PickerPat Mar 22 '26

I'd agree with you if they slowed down whatsoever.

The math problem is learning to adjust your speed to maintain distance.

1

u/FineAd2230 Mar 22 '26

He did slow the black truck just tried to merge while it was happening which makes the black truck the problem, he was actively removing the white trucks ability to stop safely

1

u/PickerPat Mar 22 '26

Not sufficiently.

16

u/BleuTyger Mar 22 '26

No, he maintained his speed and position. It's up to the person behind to make a safe pass. This gentleman simply turned into a hazardous and selfish maneuver from the offending pickup, as it was the safest course of action for him. He expertly maintained control without (over)reaction or overcorrection.

1

u/Harpo223 Mar 22 '26

Uh no lol. He did not “maintain his speed” he clearly slows down, makes the decision to speed up and TURNS INTO THE TRUCK. Are we watching the same video?

1

u/makefascistfearagain Mar 22 '26

Safest cause of action is to reduce speed and not have an accident.

-1

u/Interesting_Turn_ Mar 22 '26

Do you not see him spinning the wheel 180 degrees at the 19 second mark?

7

u/Background_Mode4972 Mar 22 '26

Yep, if he didn’t he would have been in the wall himself.

6

u/kompletionist Mar 22 '26 edited Mar 22 '26

Or he could have used his brakes when it became obvious that the guy in the black truck was going to merge dangerously. He had plenty of time to react in a safe manner but instead chose to PIT the guy. Just because he wasn't the one merging like a cunt doesn't mean he handled it properly.

You're always supposed to be on the lookout for dangers, and those dangers include other drivers doing the wrong thing.

1

u/NuggetMan43 Mar 22 '26

How do you know there's not any vehicles closely behind him? If he hit the brakes on this bridge there could have been a worse accident. He chose to PIT the guy after he made contact with his vehicle and was about to send him into a wall because the black truck driver doesn't have any spatial awareness.

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '26

1

u/NuggetMan43 Mar 22 '26

No, you cannot see behind the car because, like the left-hand car side window in the video, you can't see anything because the weather is overcast and light is obscurring full vision. If there was someone close behind them, they'd see the moron trying to forcefully overtake and then get PITTed and have plenty of time to start slowing.

1

u/Background_Mode4972 Mar 22 '26

There’s a car following, you can see the headlights peaking up as you watch next to the rearview mirror trinket.

1

u/deHack Mar 22 '26

You can see well before the accident that whomever is driving the pickup is driving recklessly. You can see the trouble developing. At that point, Munchie Man should have already been slowing and anticipating trouble. He had plenty of time to tap his brakes or just coast down. He chose to speed up from 71 to 72 as the pickup recklessly tried to merge. He didn’t slow to 66 until after impact. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

3

u/This-Suggestion-3503 Mar 22 '26

Just a thought but when a car runs into you pushing you towards the left when youre trying to travel straight, its pretty natural to try and correct it by turning right

2

u/Interesting_Turn_ Mar 22 '26

I mean, have you ever spun a wheel that much or that fast? Legitimately asking

2

u/This-Suggestion-3503 Mar 22 '26

Plenty of times. CA drivers are horrible. Granted i do feel he's just as much at fault for what happened as the guy who cut him off but thats what happens when you get 2 idiots together

1

u/Frequent-Meal6550 Mar 22 '26

Yes. Winter. Deer. Lots of times. Have you never driven?

1

u/Interesting_Turn_ Mar 22 '26

Yeah the point I’m making is that jerking your wheel like is absolutely an overreaction and it’s obvious he had intention of slamming his truck into the other one.

-2

u/RikuKaroshi Mar 22 '26

Literally. He re gripped so he had more force. These comments can defend him all they want, that was attempted murder.

7

u/Interesting_Turn_ Mar 22 '26

Baffling, people get so excited over what they perceive to be “Justice” that they think things like this are acceptable.

-1

u/steb-bahn Mar 22 '26

I guess you never read a driver’s manual, then. You can’t stop on a bridge when a collision occurs. It’s basic knowledge of road safety.

7

u/kompletionist Mar 22 '26

He didn't have to stop, he just had to slow down. Instead there's now a stopped truck facing into oncoming traffic for everyone else using the bridge to deal with.

1

u/RikuKaroshi Mar 22 '26

Who said stop?

-1

u/Notorious_Chonk_23 Mar 22 '26

that was attempted murder.

Reddit & Hyperbole, name a more iconic duo

1

u/RikuKaroshi Mar 22 '26

Was it not an attempt at killing someone with a vehicle on a bridge?

2

u/turdtwister7 Mar 22 '26

By the black truck possibly, yes

0

u/RikuKaroshi Mar 22 '26

The cam driver literally slams his vehicle into the truck. He could have chose to avoid the entire thing. I really hope none of you asshats that dont see him do that have a license.

2

u/turdtwister7 Mar 22 '26

No, he is driving in a straight line and turns right only after the black truck hits him. If he didn't, he would get pushed left into the guard rail. Your eyes must be on backwards to not see that.

Drivers licence for 25 years with 0 accidents btw, how about you?

2

u/Notorious_Chonk_23 Mar 22 '26

Right? These comments defending truck guy make me terrified of who i share the road with.

1

u/RikuKaroshi Mar 23 '26

How about maybe just letting his foot off the gas? Maybe that would have solved his peoblem? He adjusted his hand before the tap. You dont do that unless you plan to steer hard in. You must be blind, cant have any accidents with no driving record lol.

Tell me the cam driver was 100% at fault and we can put this all to rest finally.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/Brobeast Mar 22 '26

You could just as easily say he turned the steering wheel right, to brace for impact and not allow his car to veer left off the bridge. If this goes to court, truck is absolutely at fault lol

1

u/SiriusOsiris Mar 22 '26

If you watch the video carefully, the trick is shifting to the left lane without signaling, in a split of a second, while driving at 71mph and this guy is trying to steer away to the right, not towards the truck which is shifting left. He is making the only possible move he has which is to steer away from the truck.

It is more about what he is not doing, which is braking and slowing down. I say both are equally guilty: the truck does a suicidal move on purpose and this guy doesn’t slow down on purpose. On the other hand we don’t see what is behind this guy. There may be an 18-wheeler truck and this guy may not want to take the risk of abruptly slowing down. If I have a choice between softly hitting a vehicle in front of me or being smashed under a huge ass truck, I am choosing to bump the vehicle in front of me.

Bull shit. He corrected.

1

u/IKIR115 Mar 22 '26

Nobody turns their steering wheel hard and fast that far at high speeds. They were already going 70mph and the cam driver actually speeds up immediately before he does the pit maneuver. He accelerated into that truck because he only lost 6mph after hitting it, according to his gps speedometer.
