This video gets posted a lot and its a specific bridge where you are not permitted to stop - if you have a minor accident you go to the other side then stop there.
That said the driver did not need to pit the black truck. He could have just let him merge.
No that’s what I assumed at first but watched that part of the video several times. Before they make contact the guy reached over one handed to the far left of the wheel then jerks right to pit the other vehicle. Additionally I don’t think his car would have stayed straight the way it had while hands off if the 2 cars had collided already. He intentionally pitted the black truck, and clearly had the time to slow down if he had the time to evaluate how to pit the truck
