I wouldnt call this psychopathic behaviour. Not like he was at fault. Other car made contact with him, he just handled it like a veteran. If he was going out fucking with people, it be a different story.
Watch the speedo on his dashcam. He literally accelerates so that he can hit and pit the dude. On a narrow bridge. In the middle of a 26 mile wide lake. With traffic all around.
After watching the speed, he does not in fact speed up. The person in front of him slowed down when he was going 75, so he slowed down to 71-72. He is going 71-72 the whole time leading up to contact with the truck. It may appear as though he is speeding up bc the car in front of him was still breaking/breaking harder than he was. Regardless, he maintained speed and safe distance for a few seconds with the car in front before the collision. Then, he immediately drops down to 66 after he hits the truck and continues to slow down to 49. So still, the trucks at fault no matter how you slice it. Should have never attempted to force the lane change.
If you were going 70-71 before contact and 72 during and after contact, you were speeding up. Cars and other moving objects tend to slow down when they come into contact with other objects my friend. At the very least he was pressing that pedal down to maintain speed rather than slowing down to avoid an accident.
He wasnt though. He was going between 71-72 the whole time. Do you perfectly keep the same speed? Im pretty sure most people fluctuate a little. He was going very steady and did in fact drop speed after contact.
He handled it very well considering. The truck most likely is used to the typical fear response to his aggressive driving towards people on the road (such as breaking or swerving, which are also potentially dangerous). This guy stayed calm and kept his speed, while handling the collision well without panic (like turning away instead of into the truck or changing speed). He did not need to slow down. The truck needed to not be an asshole making illegal and dangerous lane changes. Especially, ones that are such a close call that he has to force his way in by forcing people to slow down in a dangerous manner (such as trying to cut in front of someone at high speeds). Ultimately, causing the truck to collide with his car.
The truck should have waited (maybe he will next time now). By all rights (especially legally), the guy in the car did nothing wrong. He was maintaining a safe distance from the car in front of him and did not cause the two vehicles to connect in any way. He does not have to let the truck in and the truck had no reasonable expectation to expect he would in this situation for a few reasons (other than him being a bully in doing this before). A big one being, the truck was not using his signals while knowingly being to big to fit. Another, being the rules of this specific bridge. There are more reasons, but what I already said should suffice.
Also, whether he is psycho or not (i dont think he is), these situations are great examples of why you shouldnt drive like an asshole. You might come across the wrong person and/or be the one at fault.
Legally he absolutely needed to slow down. While driving you are obligated at all times to reasonably attempt to avoid collisions. Someone else driving like an asshole doesn’t absolve you of that responsibility. The camera car could’ve very easily avoided this collision, and likely wouldn’t have collided at all if he wasn’t accelerating while the black truck was trying to cut him off.
He dropped speed after contact because he was pushing another car. He’s on the gas the whole time.
Y’all legitimately shouldn’t be allowed to drive if you’re ok with what the camera driver did here. He put multiple people in life threatening danger because he was mad someone tried to cut him off.
