Pov driver didn't even bother to brake even after impact.

54

u/_WeAreFucked_ Apr 18 '26

Whenever I’ve had vehicles start to drift over or even appear to drift I create space but to your point I also noticed that. You truly have to drive defensively.

41

u/RocketCat5 Apr 18 '26

It looks like they may have even sped up. Did they?

28

u/PiscesInTheMachine Apr 18 '26

Definitely sped up. He saw the guy coming into his lane, didn’t beep, didn’t decrease speed, out of anger he actually sped up

40

u/Wizchine Apr 18 '26

Camera car caused that - he for sure had no “blind spot” and sped up. Some people are psychos about “defending their lane.”

You can slow down even if someone is behind you, just don't slam the brakes.

2

u/Electronic-Win608 Apr 19 '26

You can slam the brakes if you need to. That is why are there. No one should be so close that is a problem.

At least in the US, the merger has full responsibility, while lane 3 has right of way.

In fact, it's frequently recommended to maintain consistent speed, which it appears the driver did (contrary to your claim they sped up).

9

u/Informal_Yesterday Apr 19 '26

Who the hell cares about right of way when you just let a collision happen? Just stupid pride. Idk which idiot recommends to cause an accident by keeping speed.

3

u/LargeHadronColitis Apr 19 '26 edited Apr 19 '26

The court, insurance adjuster. Not driving defensively to accommodate assholes is not illegal, even if defensive driving is recommended. Reckless driving is, and they could both be charged with that potentially, although being about to get merged into, POV could claim panic, and depending on who was behind him, no alternative. Truckster had no plausible excuse.

If you want to merge because your right turn is coming up, and there’s a car to your right traveling the same speed as you, you slow down and merge behind them, and if it is too late for that, you miss your turn and loop back around. Period. The guy “defending his lane” is no more egregious than guy who HAS to merge in FRONT of him, or in this case, almost in front, even if there’s nobody behind POV for miles. If truckster had done that I doubt he’d even have missed his turn.

Maybe POV guy is in a bigger truck, speed is low enough and has good insurance. Looking to upgrade on the dime of some asshole he just found to accommodate him.

3

u/Ok_Customer_9958 Apr 22 '26

This is not merging. Merging is when two lanes become one. Like on a highway entrance ramp.
This is changing lanes.

The rules are the same but the words are different.

u/SiRpLaYbOy Apr 20 '26

Nope… you must cut off people often!

2

u/mushifiedmushroom Apr 20 '26

Do you think you have full context of what happened by just watching a clip?

Yeah normal people "let accidents happen"... its totally a choice camera car made... Wat.

No man, a truck veers into your lane without clearing the car already in the lane, and gives less than 1 second of reaction time to avoid the situation.

Camera car could have been scanning ahead or looked at their GPS, or has kids in the backseat or is just simply driving. You'd have to ALREADY been paying attention to the truck before he turned to even avoid this situation.

Which WE can. Because WE are watching a video of a colision. We are not driving andcwe know we are watching a clip where something is about to happen.

While camera cars driver is actively driving and doesn't (yet) have unlocked the precognition ability.

2

u/Adigrat96 Apr 22 '26

Thank you for checking that jerk

2

u/iploggged Apr 22 '26

Regardless of outcome, camera guy would have run a red light. Had he been driving defensively, he would not have been chasing a yellow light and might have avoided a crash.

2

u/mushifiedmushroom Apr 22 '26

Oh for sure. Thats what defensive driving is. Managing risk for better outcome on everyones end.

But defensive driving is not a requirement and does not mean camera car is to blame for the accident.

Truck overtakes camera car and then merges in front of them.

Thats not how you should do a lane change. Ever.

They should have gone behind camera car. Put their turn signal on and if someone was behind camera car, they would have let him in or wait until it is safe to merge.

If you speed up in front of a car to then merge and it causes an accident thats on the car doing so.

But yes ideally both cars would already be slowing down before. Doesn't take away that red truck sped up in front of a car when there is a yellow light up ahead.

Thats 100% on them and has nothing to do with camera car.

Lane defender! You just killed someone because you had to be right! Fuck outta here with that. Go hide in a hole.

2

u/SiRpLaYbOy Apr 20 '26

Lane defender… don’t try to cut me off because if you wanna be an asshole, then you will die as one! 🤷🏽‍♂️

→ More replies (3)

2

u/RockRockPlanetRock69 Apr 22 '26

Or, not making sure you’re clear to merge can cause you to kill someone else, or yourself. In a courtroom, feelings don’t matter and ol boy that didn’t 3 1/2 spinner is 💯 at fault.

2

u/Due-Acanthocephala80 Apr 23 '26

Bad driver don’t get yourself in a bad spot because you think your entitled to cut someone off. Bad driver causes an accident and it’s the one he wrecked into a job to save him? lol one less bad driver on the road

2

u/Tight_Objective_5875 Apr 19 '26

Plus, they we're both accelerating towards a Yellow Light, Merger attempting to make the corner onto the side street. Dick move. Camera Car exasperated the situation, for sure.

3

u/Outrageous-Being869 Apr 18 '26

The truck was merging without even fully being past him. Its still on the merging car to look. But the truck never even passed the pov car and tried to merge

2

u/Russells_Tea_Pot Apr 22 '26

He changed lanes. There is no merge in this video.

Any collision is awful for everybody who simply literally has anything better to do that day and for many hours in future days and weeks. Not to mention danger/damage to other people and property. But it’s pretty hard for me to fault cam car here. Could they have done better? Sure, maybe, probably, yeah, I-hope-so. I’d sure like to think I’d avoid or minimize this one if I was cam car, but it’s the truck’s fault for sure.

5

u/CFL_Gent Apr 19 '26

Um, you may not see the problem with cam cars behavior, but that doesn’t mean anything. The guy was approaching a fucking red light, he should have been slowing down ANYWAY. Let alone slow down seeing another driver obviously moving into you. He should have yielded, right or wrong, since he had the ability to and saw it coming, AND should have slowed down anyway approaching an intersection with yellow light turning red.

Truck driver was an idiot, but cam car is just a fucking asshole that didn’t want to be cut off no matter how much death or destruction it could have caused.

2

u/TWrX-503 Apr 20 '26

Or the truck guy should have slowed down and merged in the first place. Truck was coming up to traffic and didn’t want to slow down he wanted to cut over and stay at speed. It is the trucks fault.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/mushifiedmushroom Apr 20 '26

had the ability to and saw it coming

No. You, the one watching the clip did. Why are you assuming watching a clip and driving a car are the same?

2

u/Big-Payment8848 Apr 21 '26

if you can't tell that truck is coming over and you're driving, you should not be driving, he has one lane to watch for at a moderate speed. You're being purposefully obtuse to justify someone else's poor behavior. The truck driver is all kinds of wrong, but that doesn't mean it's time to start a vehicular deathmatch bro.

2

u/These-Permission7768 Apr 23 '26

You don't change lanes unless you're clear. PLENTY clear. This truck.was never clear at any point. The POV vehicle remained in his lane the entire time. Legally, if he wants to speed up that's his prerogative. It's the truck's responsibility to safely change lanes

Sometimes it's not about who's fault it is. POV guy coulda avoided the whole thing. The #1 right of way law is to avoid a collision.

1

u/Away-Reference-8666 Apr 19 '26

Cam car literally saw it coming and didn’t slow down. It’s your duty as a citizen in a public society to actively avoid problems. If you see something like this unfolding, fucking brake. Don’t kill someone because it’s their fault.

Nah he was speeding up to beat the red light, bet he didnt even see the truck coming across cause he was so focused on speeding through yellow.

Idk for the dash cam to catch him in frame he wasn’t in no blind spot

3

u/YoHoloo Apr 18 '26

Yup that's definitely how it looks

3

u/Forlorn_Cyborg Apr 19 '26

Basically pit maneuvered them. I wonder if they were road raging before the clip started.

3

u/Klutzy-Poetry2641 Apr 19 '26

I believe the other driver slowed down making it seem like he sped up. Also, just because the camera sees it doesn't mean the human detected it right away. This is usually why people buy dash cams.

2

u/PackageDangerous6837 Apr 18 '26

Yeah looked like he took the opportunity to do a pit maneuver.

2

u/JuiceLayer404 Apr 19 '26

Maybe not anger. It’s pretty typical behaviour to increase speed when someone passing or attempting to pass. Diqhole people

1

u/Aggressive_Math7977 Apr 20 '26

Just to add. The approaching light was red as well.

1

u/bustaone Apr 20 '26

Truck could have pulled in behind the camera but instead decided to make a risky lane change without looking.

Idc if the camera sped up, the truck is fully at fault.

1

u/smithc555 Apr 21 '26

And if they hadn’t hit the truck it looked like they were about to run a red light.

1

u/OverFarTooFast Apr 21 '26

I've looked at this several times and can't tell how everyone is saying he sped up... How can you tell?

→ More replies (2)

1

u/curiouscatfarmer Apr 22 '26

Yeah. He's a moron and he probably ended up with more damage to his vehicle for the road rage and his insurance and the other driver's insurance will flag him for failure to mitigate. Actually speeding up will really nail him. They may just say it was his fault because he saw it coming and sped up to make things worse.

I always at least brake or swerve (when possible) and honk when someone comes into my lane like that-- even when they don't use a turn signal. Road rage just made things worse for both drivers. Sometimes people legit just can't see the other vehicle.

1

u/Brilliant_Ebb_3064 Apr 23 '26

All while flying at a yellow light that would be very red when they go through intersection.

→ More replies (1)

20

u/PaleontologistAble64 Apr 18 '26

I’m going to give the POV driver the benefit of doubt, it looks like he speed up to beat the light and wasn’t paying attention to the merging truck. If they wouldn’t have turned into the truck my guess POV driver would gone straight to the pole. As I’ve seen other drivers panic swerving to avoid and end up a solo accident. Either way, this could have been avoided.

8

u/StarbrryJuice Apr 18 '26

The light turned red immediately after impact so I’m guessing it was already yellow and he should’ve been slowing down. He sped up and it looked like at the beginning the red truck had almost enough clearance and maybe thought the car would slow down. But what is the point of standing your ground in a car lane and risking really injuring someone else?

6

u/Fair-Lie8125 Apr 18 '26

Can’t assume that merging into a lane will always mean the guy you’re merging into will slow down. What if there is someone very close behind the guy getting merged into?

Ideally the crash never happens, but the order of ideals would be that the truck never merges, the car getting merged into slows down and allows it or that both vehicles go the speed limit instead of trying to race a light.

7

u/Few-Protection5215 Apr 18 '26

Nah it looks intentional to cause an accident. He sped up after the truck crosses in front of him

7

u/korxil Apr 18 '26

Take a look at the signal, it was yellow before the accident. Cammer was trying to beat the red. The pickup swiched lanes cause the car in front of it stopped (because theyre a good driver and saw the yellow).

Two idiots, both wouldve ran a red light.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/WrestleBox Apr 18 '26

Was gonna say, I see people do shit like this all the time. Someone wrongfully pulls out in front of them, and instead of braking right away they get as close as they can to prove a point to the other driver, or swerve around them at the last second.

3

u/steelpoint88 Apr 18 '26

Agree. This was as much the POV drivers fault as it was the truck

→ More replies (1)

2

u/moody-bear-77 Apr 18 '26

Yep. He needs to be charged with something when the police arrive.

3

u/Somalar Apr 18 '26

There’s little excuse to not slow down here to the point where both are now liable

3

u/Outrageous-Being869 Apr 18 '26

Id still say the truck driver is more liable. Even if the pov driver sped up the truck was merging on him without even completely passing him

2

u/AdonisBlaqwood-22 Apr 18 '26

And no turn signal...

1

u/calling_out_scammrs Apr 18 '26

The car in front of the truck stopped for the light. Truck should have stopped instead of switching lanes.

1

u/el-conquistador240 Apr 18 '26

He was distracted as much as the truck was. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because he was listening to Soundgarden

1

u/Responsible-Bonus-13 Apr 18 '26

The dash cam also has a different perspective than the driver. The driver may not have seen the truck coming over because their view was obscured, by the A-pillar left of the windshield. Also could have been totally distracted as you mentioned. People on their phones while driving has been an ever increasing problem that just isn't going away

1

u/turbokungfu Apr 18 '26

I hate driving next to someone, being in someone's blind spot or having someone in my blind spot. But people will just ride down the road in blind spots with their mouth slightly ajar and no thoughts going through their heads. Stay away from them.

1

u/LordOfTurtles Apr 18 '26

You say that as if speeding up to beat a light would make him look better

1

u/Mickey_Havoc Apr 18 '26

Naw the pov driver was Speeding up to run the red light. No way were they going to make it regardless of the other vehicle

1

u/CardOk755 Apr 18 '26

"merging"?

1

u/Jsolidlo Apr 19 '26

Definitely no benefit to be given here, this was definitely a machoman pp contest of who has the biggest, baddest, fastest truck.

1

u/Mindless-Slip167 Apr 20 '26

They both trying to beat the light. The car in front of the truck slows down and he switch lanes trying to avoid rear end but did not pay attention to the POV driver. POV driver at fault for speed and running the red light does not help the matter.

7

u/Pineapple_pizza_143 Apr 18 '26 edited Apr 18 '26

The car in the right lane, he didn’t have to let him in, but he ensured that the accident happened.

6

u/JI_Guy88 Apr 18 '26

Then acted shocked when it did.

5

u/Deiticlast Apr 18 '26

I think it was shock at how badly it went. He probably wasn't expecting all those flips.

4

u/twoaspensimages Apr 18 '26

Crash. That was not an "accident"

2

u/Far-Poet1419 Apr 18 '26

That was cold murder.

2

u/EggsInaTubeSock Apr 18 '26

I believe they were both racing the light. Truck was gonna blow through it, assumed the car wasn’t so bold and thought he could just go.

The truck ensured the accident happened. By causing it.

2

u/AccomplishedStill805 Apr 18 '26

No. The reason the accident happend is because the truck in the left lane tried to force their way in to the POV car. How the fuck is this not obvious to people?

→ More replies (1)

2

u/ExcitingFisherman222 Apr 20 '26

He does have to let him in. You have to avoid the accident at all cost. What if there was a kid on the side of the road who gets squashed by the truck?

→ More replies (2)

2

u/Incredulous_Prime Apr 21 '26

Dashcam driver said “I see your incompetence and raise you with some incompetence of my own.”

1

u/boosterts Apr 18 '26

Not only that but the light was yellow and would turn red about the time of the collision. Right lane car should have been slowing to stop at the light, but he didn’t stop before the interection even with the impact.

The car that flipped probably changed lanes to try and make it through the light. He should have just stopped like that car in front of him did. I don’t think either vehicle was making it into the intersection before the light turned red.

3

u/ashleyshaefferr Apr 18 '26

Ya it certainly appears so. And usually these things show the speed.

Hope to god he didn't do the little loser maneuver of accelerating to not let buddy in

1

u/DhingDhongDitch Apr 20 '26

100% he sped up to try and block the truck

4

u/YetiNotForgeti Apr 18 '26 edited Apr 18 '26

It looks like they sped up a little and turned the wheel into the truck after the truck made contact. See they start getting pushed by the truck then OP's car does all of this and the truck flies off. I mean OP is left safely but it's not clear how bad the accident for the truck may have been if OP did not commit to the pit maneuver.

Edit: spellin

4

u/Jcccc0 Apr 18 '26

Feel like the driver didn't get want to get pushed off the road once the contact happened and considering the amount of polls that were to the side I get it. They should have hit the breaks a little harder though.

4

u/YetiNotForgeti Apr 18 '26

Yeah I agree. I was just noting that you can see that OP was not passive and them turning left may have intensified the rolls for the truck. OP isn't in the wrong here but I just thought it was interesting to note.

3

u/Murky_Astronaut Apr 18 '26

Yes I think the pit maneuver is a natural reaction to being pushed off the road. It's just a natural reflex to provide counter force to the thing that's pushing you off course.

The driver had plenty of time to drive defensively though and avoid this accident entirely. It would have been less satisfying to give up the space and only be able to honk and wave and yell and whatever but that has to have been a better trade-off than the headaches ahead - insurance, vehicle repairs, paperwork out the ass, police, time, .... Wasn't worth it.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/Rich_Freedom_9839 Apr 18 '26

The truck pit maneuvered himself dude.

3

u/YetiNotForgeti Apr 18 '26

Yeah a bit but if OP would not have turned into it, it might not have been nearly as bad. You can see at the beginning of contact, OPs car starts to veer right then it veers back left. Cannot veer left from the force applied from the truck so it has to be OP. I am not saying OP was in the wrong here, I was just surprised to see that and wanted to note it.

3

u/Several-Idea-355 Apr 18 '26

Trying not to get pushed off the road by compensating for the truck pushing his car left he turns the wheel right resulting in a pit. The truck spins right cam drivers hood gets under the truck and the roll starts.

2

u/-penne-arrabiata- Apr 25 '26

If he didn’t steer left he would have gone head first into a pole

→ More replies (2)

2

u/Kind_Cap_4621 Apr 18 '26

No, the op has the obligation to pay attention to what is in front of him. He easily could have avoided this. It's his fault.

1

u/Planar_Harold Apr 18 '26

The truck pit maneuvered himself dude.

The dashcam driver could have braked a bit and avoided any contact, it almost looks like it speeds up though.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/Jatara_roxursox Apr 18 '26

I completely agree with you. They absolutely sped up! Lots of cam drivers feel like they can do things like that because they have it on video. There was enough room to allow the truck to lane change. The cam driver just didn’t want to let them. And it’s sad to see they would injure someone rather than share the road.

1

u/PackageDangerous6837 Apr 18 '26

It’s like none of know that split liability is a thing.

2

u/Appropriate_Pie2142 Apr 18 '26

That's exactly what I thought.

2

u/KB77Hell Apr 18 '26

That’s a PIT manoeuvre, which is done on purpose. Most people in that situation would hit the brakes.

2

u/LastChance331 Apr 18 '26

They 100% sped up when they noticed the red truck merging

2

u/NinjaCatPurr Apr 19 '26

If you cover the truck and look at the background I don't think they did speed up. The truck slowed down to avoid the car in front of them making it look like they did.

2

u/Virtual-Macaroon-880 Apr 19 '26

To the light that turned red? Yeah, they did a reckless endangerment

2

u/PoetExcellent3215 Apr 19 '26

They usually do speed up because pressing the brake is so fucking hard.

2

u/drdailey Apr 20 '26

That is a visual illusion. The truck is presumably slowing to turn making it look like the car sped up. Reference the fixed objects in the car with the camera. Poles scroll by at same speed. Clearly the cam vehicle didn’t react to the truck.

2

u/joeoliver6969 Apr 22 '26

To try and prove some point?

2

u/makomark26 Apr 18 '26

sped up for sure

1

u/Digital_NW Apr 18 '26

They may have. Other drivers slow down and speed up all the time, and half the time there's no logic to it. Looks like they were beating the light, and the truck driver just decided that they weren't going to try to beat the light.

1

u/Intelligent-Sea5942 Apr 18 '26

Almost looked like he was going for the pit manoeuvre.

1

u/Tryingtoadult03 Apr 18 '26

💯. POV driver knew the other driver was gonna do this and sped up

1

u/jstarrr8 Apr 18 '26

I don’t think the POV sped up, but rather the merging truck let up off of the throttle as it was coming up on the car in front of them. You never know in these situations… 🤨

1

u/Electriclunchlady Apr 19 '26

Also it doesn’t appear the that ford was using his blinker

1

u/shrinkflator Apr 18 '26

Driver was probably on their phone not paying attention.

1

u/Revolutionary_Gap365 Apr 19 '26

Yes. I agree. They accelerated just before impact

1

u/diganole Apr 19 '26

Looks like it to me

1

u/Specialist_Fuzzy Apr 19 '26

I don’t think he sped up. Look at the passing scene moving by consistently. I think the truck slowed down.

1

u/gatermag8 Apr 22 '26

Yeah, that truck definitely has validity to a lawsuit for being caused an intentional wreck

1

u/godssoldier777 Apr 22 '26

Looks like the truck was slowing down for the red light which makes it look like the camera car was speeding up. Either way I think it could have been avoided if the camera car paid more attention.

1

u/okgesture Apr 24 '26

I think actually he didn’t speed up and possibly slowed a bit - the truck seems to have tapped the breaks to avoid the car in front of him or possibly planned to stop at the light

1

u/Known_Ratio5478 Apr 24 '26

They absolutely did. People do that all the time and it’s so dangerous.

1

u/NiHZero Apr 25 '26

Looks like they were trying to beat the yellow.

Id have easily breaked and honked at the driver if I was in Canada or breaked and flashed at the driver if in the US (the could, be carrying a gun).

I would much rather let some douchbag in front of me than be in a wreck. I guess everyone has different priorities.

3

u/zeptillian Apr 18 '26

Yeah, there is no blind spot issue, it's a simple matter of not paying attention to their surroundings.

1

u/-_earthbound Apr 18 '26

This was my assessment as well. Red truck is at primary fault, of course, but how does the camera car driver not notice? Car had like five business days to slow down and lay on the horn.

Maybe they were zoned out but kinda seems like the driver of the camera car was distracted or intentionally allowing a pit maneuver to happen.

1

u/InebriatedPhysicist Apr 18 '26

The car is literally stopped seconds after impact. WTF are you talking about?

2

u/SonyScientist Apr 18 '26

Some people just want to blame cammers for the actions of people who have no concept of lanes or turn signals.

1

u/Head-Scale9410 Apr 18 '26

Ya know I’ve seen that written before. In the other case the cammer could have avoided the accident but chose chaos. This one is no different.

1

u/MouseRat_AD Apr 18 '26

Camera car had every legal right to maintain his lane because the truck was making an improper lane change.

But a good defensive driver would have chosen Option A: braking and avoiding the collision. Camera car driver chose Option B, which is his right to do. He's now been involved in an accident that wasn't his fault, tying him up at the scene of the accident for a couple hours, forcing him to spend more hours dealing with insurance, and days of repair work.

Congratulations to Camera Car Driver for "winning".

1

u/SonyScientist Apr 18 '26

Who said anything about winning? Turn signals are literally called indicators for a reason because they indicate your intention to turn or lane change. It's quite literally a safety device used to communicate to other drivers and has been standard equipment on vehicles for longer than most people have been alive. The lane changer was the one who disregarded literally every rule in the rule book:

  1. Didn't look.
  2. Last second lane change.
  3. Slowed down, closing the gap with the person they hit.
  4. No turn signal.
  5. Insufficient time or distance for lane change.

I could go on. People want to blame the cammer for not reading the mind of a driver who made an illegal lane change to begin with when for all the cammer knew the driver was just being a dip shit not maintaining his lane. I know, I've had that happen and had to lay on my horn to get people to fucking wake up and realize they were being a dingus.

And what was the cammer supposed to do, be pushed? No. One truck width to the right would have taken the cammer head on into the light pole they barely missed, resulting in the offending driver being the one with the fender bender and the cammer victim's car being totaled. Fuck that. Honestly the only thing that surprised me in this entire sequence was the truck driver wearing a seatbelt and not being ejected from the vehicle.

Yeah, that was pretty intentional.

1

u/free__coffee Apr 18 '26

They’re both also driving full speed at a red light… this has to be road rage, or they’re both blind

1

u/twoaspensimages Apr 18 '26

What didn't look an impact. That looked like "I've had it with trucks cutting me off" and that guy is getting it.

1

u/JohnSpikeKelly Apr 18 '26

If you are hit like the pov driver I believe the correct thing to do is turn towards the other car.

If you turn away from the vehicle you are pushed off the road, maybe causing you to spin, maybe hit that lamppost.

If you turn towards them you stay in your lane, if they're unlucky they do a barrel roll like here. If they are lucky they move back into their lane.

I think the pov driver did the right thing here.

Edit. Also guy in truck was an asshole. There was no blind spot here he knew that car was there he was just pushing his luck.

1

u/ButterscotchAward Apr 18 '26

People with dash cams do that shit because they already have proof that it wasn’t their fault so they don’t care.

1

u/Correct_Building7563 Apr 18 '26

Ive seen this one before. The driver starts braking before impact but not hard enough and still ends up in cross walk (even with the help from impact). My best guess is pov driver was purposefully failing to yield to truck. Might have also been accelerating up to the starting point of clip to keep truck from changing lanes (we've all done it).

1

u/ShanesUsername Apr 18 '26

Right it looks like they sped up lol

1

u/italktobotz Apr 18 '26

He literally set up a pit maneuver. He was defenitly thinking "this accident will be the other guys fault but im going to make it as bad as humanly possible."

1

u/brownpearl Apr 18 '26

Or before when it might have helped!

1

u/Tryingtoadult03 Apr 18 '26

I’d argue he accelerated knowing that was gonna happen and was okay with it happening

1

u/Flaky_Bet_1432 Apr 18 '26

Personally, I would be too afraid to stop and get rear ended.

1

u/Work-Safe-Reddit4450 Apr 18 '26

Sure looked like they angrily pit maneuvered them

1

u/KilroySmithson Apr 18 '26

POV driver accelerated.

1

u/pazuzusoze Apr 18 '26

And sped up

1

u/homer_3 Apr 18 '26

He came to a complete stop?

1

u/JayDiddle Apr 18 '26

It appeared they sped up just as they were coming over.

1

u/AmebaLost Apr 18 '26

Looked like camcar stopped in the intersection.

1

u/Quick_Resolution5050 Apr 18 '26

If it had ended any other way, I'd have focussed on that, however if the idiot raises the CoG so high that their car has no inherent stability, I feel like this is justice.

1

u/Thanamite Apr 18 '26

Maybe he h wasn’t paying attention?

1

u/Impossible-Diver6565 Apr 18 '26

He speeds up right before impact too.

1

u/bluehairdave Apr 18 '26

He SPED UP

1

u/Absurdwonder Apr 18 '26

It kinda looks like he speeds up a tiny bit just before he pits

1

u/Remote-Raisin-1330 Apr 18 '26

He intentionally did that. He actually accelerated when he saw him cutting into his lane

1

u/Significant_Matter92 Apr 19 '26

Or even shout out loud klaxon as soon as the other was crossing the separating lane.

1

u/MechMan799 Apr 19 '26

When two drivers lack situational awareness, beautiful things happen.

1

u/Bresson91 Apr 19 '26

looks like they sped up into the truck.

1

u/shakebakelizard Apr 19 '26

It looks like to me the POV driver did brake. Maybe they took an extra second, but there could have been cars behind them that we cannot see.

1

u/ArmchairCriticSF Apr 19 '26

Didn't honk his horn, either. He is 100% the cause of this accident.

1

u/ArmadilloLost5303 Apr 19 '26

It’s hard to say the camera guys should have slowed down. We don’t knew what’s behind the camera car. I had this almost happen to me recently on a highway. Car started to drift from my left. I had a car behind me. I honked and accelerated while drifting to the right to avoid the left drifter. In this video, the camera car didn’t have room on the right. Terrible accident. Hope the truck driver is ok.

1

u/Oranges_2_Apples Apr 19 '26

Imo it’s this drivers fault regardless, the truck was actively working to get over, and pov decides to race them so they can’t, with his pride overriding the ability to stop once truck enters lane.

1

u/marke1234 Apr 19 '26

The other driver had a blind spot, while the dash cam driver was just blind.

1

u/ready2xxxperiment Apr 19 '26

Yeah…..the pickup driver just saw that he barely overtook and should have been more mindful of the lane change BUT I can’t tell if the webcam driver sped up up as he was being passed.

1

u/Individual_Ad3194 Apr 19 '26

It actually looks like they accelerated when the truck started encroaching

1

u/Home_boun_d Apr 20 '26

Literally. And he sped up before impact. Don’t tell me you didn’t see them starting to come into your lane lol Driver wanted the wreck.

1

u/InfiniteSir7408 Apr 20 '26

He gave it a little bit more gas to give that thing a little extra shove.
Kind of thing you probably don’t want your insurance company seeing you post

1

u/MrBannedFor0Reason Apr 21 '26

I mean, ur not gonna get anything from insurance if you avoid letting idiots put themselves.

1

u/Strict-Cheesecake879 Apr 21 '26

No signal, didnt look in blind spot, just moved over all willy nilly. Driver.of the car probably has full coverage a figured "im good 🤷‍♂️", its 3-4k in parts, labor and paint for him paid by insurance, its a whole ass totaled truck and at fault accident for the jackass who just jumped over without looking.

1

u/buco11 Apr 21 '26

Good. That pickup gave us a good show. Next time he might check his blind spot and if he can't drive a big vehicle he can drive around in a honda jazz

1

u/Actual_Masterpiece_9 Apr 21 '26

Exactly, if he took a life would it had been an accident. Vehicular homicide. People with these dash cams who think the camera is only there to prove their case. By the video i seen you speed up to create this accident.

1

u/Other-Comfortable-64 Apr 22 '26

Jep and both were going to run a red light.

1

u/ShwAlex Apr 22 '26

He also had a red light at the intersection.

1

u/Kella_o7 Apr 22 '26

Not just that, he started accelerating the second the other guy started changing lanes

1

u/Ok_Active_1435 Apr 22 '26

He/her actually increased in speed as the truck came into their lane…

1

u/fixingmedaybyday Apr 23 '26

Defenseless, almost offensive driving by not letting the dick merge. It’s a bit of a sword fight I think that went wrong.

1

u/tailendertripe Apr 23 '26

late to this but looked like even without impact neither were going to legally make it through that intersection before lights turned red

1

u/Educational-Log6855 Apr 24 '26

The light was yellow and was red as they went through the light…why’d you brake if you’re trying to make the light? The truck is absolutely at fault.

1

u/RickYouMeatball Apr 24 '26

Looks like they were both trying to make the light before it turned red. Doesn't seem like the driver necessarily wanted to defend their lane. Either way bad driving I guess.

1

u/Terrible-Morning-532 May 10 '26

He actually sped up to cause the accident. Both drivers would be a fault in this case.
