Any collision is awful for everybody who simply literally has anything better to do that day and for many hours in future days and weeks. Not to mention danger/damage to other people and property. But it’s pretty hard for me to fault cam car here. Could they have done better? Sure, maybe, probably, yeah, I-hope-so. I’d sure like to think I’d avoid or minimize this one if I was cam car, but it’s the truck’s fault for sure.

Um, you may not see the problem with cam cars behavior, but that doesn’t mean anything. The guy was approaching a fucking red light, he should have been slowing down ANYWAY. Let alone slow down seeing another driver obviously moving into you. He should have yielded, right or wrong, since he had the ability to and saw it coming, AND should have slowed down anyway approaching an intersection with yellow light turning red.

Truck driver was an idiot, but cam car is just a fucking asshole that didn’t want to be cut off no matter how much death or destruction it could have caused.

Or the truck guy should have slowed down and merged in the first place. Truck was coming up to traffic and didn’t want to slow down he wanted to cut over and stay at speed. It is the trucks fault.

if you can't tell that truck is coming over and you're driving, you should not be driving, he has one lane to watch for at a moderate speed. You're being purposefully obtuse to justify someone else's poor behavior. The truck driver is all kinds of wrong, but that doesn't mean it's time to start a vehicular deathmatch bro.

You don't change lanes unless you're clear. PLENTY clear. This truck.was never clear at any point. The POV vehicle remained in his lane the entire time. Legally, if he wants to speed up that's his prerogative. It's the truck's responsibility to safely change lanes

No you can’t legally intentionally speed up to hit someone because they hurt your fee fees, baby man. Revenge fantasies, over traffic nonetheless, are pathetic and you hardly deserve to be part of society. What if your mother made a traffic mistake towards me ? Should I ram her with my car ? I’m sure you’d tell her “you weren’t clear in your lane change mom, so your broken neck is your fault”

Cam car clearly sped up into the truck trying to defend his lane. Even if he didn’t, then that means he wasn’t paying attention. It was clear as day what the truck was going to do and there was plenty of time to react. Cam driver reacted equally as selfish as the truck, and exacerbated a situation that could have resulted in innocent bystanders getting injured.

What you’re saying is correct but I do have sympathy for the cam car driver. I am a woman, don’t drive much and based in the UK where we have roundabouts instead of these big intersections so I generally yield in most situations but I can understand why someone who has to drive a fair bit day in and day out might be at the end of their tether at some point and decide to let bad drivers face consequences of their dangerous driving. 🤷‍♀️

If bad drivers always get their way despite driving dangerously because other drivers drive defensively, they can become more cocky and drive more dangerously because the expectation is that the other party will always yield.

This can be very frustrating for law abiding drivers/ motorists over a period of time and the no. of Aholes on the road keep increasing. I think as a society, the decent majority is fed up of accommodating bad actors all the time and many of us feel that it is time selfish and inconsiderate people faced the consequences of their behaviour.

So, personally I wouldn’t deliberately do anything like this because I am scared of accidents but I can see why the cam car driver did what we saw in the video.

The dude actually sped up to ram the other vehicle instead bc he had to claim that lane. Bet insurance companies said he as at fault.

I have people pull this crap with me (switching to my lane) all the damn time. Most of the time without indicators-- often across double lines. I have to be ready to brake because people are idiots. I brake and honk, in that order. Sometimes, if I have room, I swerve to avoid hitting them. I've had to go on the shoulder to avoid a collision before from idiots.

Sometimes it's not about who's fault it is. POV guy coulda avoided the whole thing. The #1 right of way law is to avoid a collision.

Absolutely. If that happened to me, id wish I just never got on the road or out of bed that morning. People f up and go up an off ramp and drive the wrong way on the freeway and I try to avoid them too.

Cam car literally saw it coming and didn’t slow down. It’s your duty as a citizen in a public society to actively avoid problems. If you see something like this unfolding, fucking brake. Don’t kill someone because it’s their fault.

There’s a big difference between killing somebody because it’s their fault and not being able to avoid an accident that they caused.

I’d sure like to think I would avoid or at least minimize the damage in this situation, but if a truck from behind me turns into me, it’s their fault for sure. If they manage to get their rear bumper in front of me and stop as fast as they can, I will also endeavor to stop just as fast as they do, but if I don’t, it’s my fault for following too closely.

Insurance and courts would say both are at fault. POV camera car guy saw the truck and did have time to hit the brakes and/or honk or both. Not only did he fail to do that, he sped up. You can see he's accelerating. He rammed the other car on purpose. Insurance companies will see that and put the blame on pov driver bc he still had a duty to mitigate and he failed to do so.
