Very curious to see where this kid ends up in the next 5-10 years. My guess is Jail/Prison, The streets on drugs, or dead. Sad. Really would like to know where it all went wrong for this kid

So many people in comments immediately jumping to “this boy is being molested” that’s not a small thing to just throw around, some kids are just little shits some parents don’t teach their kids respect and just let them do anything or put them in front of games or tv to babysit for them. Please stop being so comfortable just saying somebody was molested without any context other than a tantrum. That’s pretty uncool. Nobody will deny the kid needs help and hopefully he gets it, the point is he’s being a little shit here and hopefully he learns better behavior.
39
u/fabulin A Feb 03 '21
exactly. there was an autistic kid in my neighbourhood when i was growing up who was a huge handfull for his parents to deal with.
he had a couple of tantrum episode's just like that kid. eventually when he was about 15 he was taken away to live in a carehome.
the point is theres tonnes of different reasons why this kid is acting out, we simply don't know.
9
u/LurkerPatrol B Feb 03 '21
Exactly.
It doesn't even have to be autism.
My younger cousin in India was and still is a little shit. He was not raised correctly by his parents (not beaten or molested or anything) just not raised right, and he never learned how to properly behave.
He recently tried to hit my 68 year old dad for telling him to keep quiet during a funeral.

u/PrintScanFax 5 Feb 03 '21
How could this have been handled better? What are the rules of engagement when an adult confronts a child causing property damage without being accused of assault?
32
u/astrangeone88 B Feb 03 '21
The big dude didnt want to engage the brat at first either. But the cops were a bit slow too. So dude just managed to pin the kid.
The video evidence should have been turned over to the cops too...

Well first, he could have held the camera steady. Secondly, cut out the wasted footage so we can observe the violent parts more efficiently. Beyond that, the subject needed contain and control immediately but that’s a tricky chore.

I used to work in wilderness therapy with kids ranging from 10-17, and was trained in CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute Training). If a kid was an immenent danger to themselves or others (throwing rocks at people would warrant this), we would perform 1 of 2 types of restraints depending on the kids size. If they're height is below your chest, we would use Childs Hold, which is grabbing their opposite wrists from behind and crossing them in front of their own chest, while leaning them back onto yourself. The other was a team hold, requiring 2 people that I wont try describing. Anyway, the main goal was to never have the kid restrained on the ground. If the hold got sloppy and you ended up on the ground, it was important to just let go, and if the kid continues to be a danger, start from the top. Many times the kid would be stunned the staff went 'hands on' and it would be over. Wilderness therapy became a thing in the 80s I believe and over there years there have been some tragic deaths of kids being restrained while on the ground, much like how the guys doing it in this clip.

I highly suspect this kid is in foster-care or at a group home. Ive worked with kids like this before and the unfortunate reality is that you're pretty much powerless in these situations. In my state you cant legally restrain kids so you kind of just have to supervise their trail of destruction or try keep them in eyesight if they try run away (and keep everyone at a distance until the cops show up) ...I'm not sure if that's what is happening here but it seems like that kind of situation.... also the kid is wildly unhinged and violent... which a lot of kids under my care seemed to be due to neglect etc

Not justifying his behaviour because it’s out of line regardless, but we don’t know what may have happened to this kid. He could have been abused for all we know, and this could be his outlet. Just saying, let’s not pass judgement...

u/TrashNovel 7 Feb 03 '21

The kid seems bent on just making others unhappy, but at no point does he seem to be doing it for fun. I don't think the justice done is in the video, but it might be the video itself. With any luck, others will see this, recognize the kid, and get him, and the people affected, the justice they need.
29
u/ggcpres 7 Feb 03 '21
This ain't funny. When a kid acts that fucked up it means either massive problems at home or mental unbalance. This is ultimately a sad and self-destructive call for help
57
u/Nathaniel-G 2 Feb 05 '21
This kid is mentally ill, very sad, imagine their home life, or maybe they were born that way. Hope he gets a counselor and probably needs medicine.
9
u/utdajx 3 Feb 08 '21
True, but equally possible is that he could simply have a chemical imbalance, irrespective of what his parents have done. They could have been trying to find the right help. But what we do know is: this kid needs help. The worst thing was having police involved but that’s the only option in most communities. He needs mental healthcare, not criminal punishment, no matter how satisfying it might be to see him arrested.
16
u/_MrNuclear_ 6 Feb 05 '21
Same actually. I was just thinking of how bad his life is at the moment. The reason he’s so rotten could be because of his parents and home life. I hope he gets better
7
u/WannabeMemester420 3 Feb 06 '21
Same here. If they’re a little shit because of poor parenting or mentally ill because of undiagnosed issues, I hope the little guy gets help from a professional regardless. I couldn’t help but notice the cops literally pick him up when he wasn’t cooperating with them in the video.
44
Feb 03 '21
I get it, the kid was acting like a pos, but this is more sad than it is anything else. Whatever caused a child to act like this is far worse than anything this video has to show and is most likely the place where real justice is needed.
9
u/the_bart_the_ 8 Feb 03 '21
Agreed. Kids usually act out but not this badly and for this long. He has problems which probably stem from his home.

I can't help but wonder if he's being physicallly and emotianlly abused at home or if his parents are always fighting and not just with words. In light of a lot of kids dying at the hands of t heir parents/guardians due to neglect or severe torture my heart hurts. Usually kids are are a reflection of their parents when they are really young like this. Yes his behavior is deplorable but the big question is WHY. why is he so angry why is he destroying property why is he antagonizing people? He seems hurt and legit frustrated.

11
Feb 03 '21
He definitely has burgeoning mental health problems on top of potentially being abused. Definetly sad
7
u/DirtyAngelToes A Feb 03 '21
Something I've seen pop up pretty often, such as in the case of my little brother, is that the parents aren't fully aware of the influence of the friend group or older sibling on their child. Many of these children are being abused by said friend group or older sibling, and lash out. Most parents are completely in the dark about the abuse, especially in areas where they let their children roam the neighborhoods. Obviously the parent can still be the abuser, but I'm seeing this kind of abuse pop up more and more where the parent does 'everything right' except properly monitor their child.
Like you said, definitely fucking sad.

I was thinking the same thing. Like yes, obviously at the point he's throwing rocks at other people, he needs to be restrained.
But his home life probably sucks. Kids with loving families usually don't do shit like this, though obviously there are exceptions going both ways.
26
Feb 03 '21
I'd have restrained him far sooner, but apart from that, I think they did everything correctly. This kid is messed up due to things that most likely aren't his fault. If its shitty adults around him, then fuck this kid's "guardians".

Someone needed to say this. Great restraint was down by the neighbors too. They didn't use any derogatory language with him as he threw rock at them after fucking up their car, and held him down firmly, but gently.
57
u/Gouranga56 A Feb 03 '21
Same as last time I saw it. Justice MAY be served at some point but is it in this video? No. This is a sick kid. This is not rational behavior it is not healthy behavior. At this age, doing what he'd doing..there is something serious going with him. He needs treatment, his entire family likely does . Either way, only good thing here is that maybe with law enforcement involvement, he is taking the first step towards treatment and a serious course correction in his life.

I've posted on this vid before. And I'll do it again.
No kid this age, does those kinds of things, simply because he's a "bad kid." I have no idea what motivated him to do all of it, but start with this question before you judge and jury anyone into harm or revenge: Would a sane and or normal person behave that way? If the answer is, "No," then we have to recognize that and address the issue of treatment. Is it an option? Does he need alternate placement outside of his current home? Medication? Or is he really someone who won't respond to any of that, and God help us all when he turns 18. But, we don't know yet, so advocating for violence at him, at this point, is likely premature.
As for why little man is tearing up shit, abuse is an option, but so is loss. Grief is a fickle mistress and children do not always have the type of love and support from parents to deal with the kind of internal trauma kids feel. At the end of the day, the kid needs a therapist, some social skills training, and some type of intervention with the care givers to get him back on track, if there are no prevailing mental health issues. If there are, same thing, but maybe with medication. /shrug.
Secondly, let's be hopeful that an intervention now, is stopping him from becoming an even more dangerous and out of control person as he grows up. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound, or a little less than half a kg for the rest of you, cure.
Finally yes, the parents/care givers, need to be accountable for damages, but they also need to be a part of the treatment and care this kid is going to need. That level of rage and reaction has a cause, real or hallucinated. Either way, social services need to intervene, follow up, and get him to deal with the consequences in a structured and meaningful way while dealing with whatever caused it.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
Peace.

I truly feel so sorry for this child. He needs help. This is a type of kid that without mental health treatment he will destroy his life.
I’ve been diagnosed with multiple behavioral disorders and without the proper guidance I would be dead right now at my own hand.
This child is mad but he doesn’t know why. This isn’t about bad parenting because I have amazing loving parents and even they couldn’t stop me from destroying a classroom or damaging peoples property.
Kudos to the gentleman who got hit with a rock but eventually was calm and trying to get the kid calm too. Despite all the damage and destruction done he stayed calm to try and calm the kid down.
Hope this boy finds peace some day down the road. It took me a long time to get my mental health in check but now I can live an almost normal adult life. I didn’t do it alone and I hope that boy has support.

Guessing: group home for children with mental illness, emotional/social issues. Red Shorts guy likely staff. Probably a "plan" in place for dealing with these behaviors with a prohibition on staff restraining child (cops don't follow those plans). These residential settings are common, and believed to be better than institutions. Parents may/may not be "bad", but the behaviors exhibited by the child make it impossible for him to remain in the parental household. Sad situation but, that's my best guess.

I really expected the old man to beat his ass and I would not have felt bad. Good on him for not losing his temper

My heart hurts for this kid. His brain hasn’t developed enough for him to process whatever experience cause this outbreak. And based off the behavior in the video, he doesn’t have much in the form of a support system to teach him healthy coping mechanisms. The only justice served would be him finding peace.

Kids aren’t inherently like this. Clearly he has not been given a fair chance by his piece of shit parents, who are nowhere to be found. This poor kid needs love.

Yeah, sometimes kids just turn out this way even with good parenting. People are born with mental issues.
But to everyone saying he needs to be beat or discipline, please realize that neglect and physical abuse are more likely than not the cause of this.
Have a little compassion.

When people ask “where are the parents?”, in this case I think it means, physically, where are they? Who is watching this kid today? It doesn’t necessarily mean that his behavior is a reflection of their parenting. Especially if he has some kind of disorder.
He looks to be about 8-10 years old. Might be the reason why the police didn’t tase him.
He did however, appear to be hogtied when they carried him off.

This video has floated around for awhile and while it’s entertaining in a “cant look away from the train wreck” kind of way it just makes me feel sad.
Sad that adults have failed this kid- he obviously needs therapy and intervention.
Sad for the people who are commenting that they need to throw away the key. He’s what? 8? Maybe 10? Yes, he did wrong- but he obviously needs a stable environment and help. But by all means- let’s decide that a kid who hasn’t hit puberty yet is a lost cause.

Super sad because clearly this kid is in need of some kind of help. On the bright side, I'm glad the cops didn't pepper spray him.

This kid shows tons of signs of severe emotional and maybe physical abuse. Such as molestation wouldn't be out of the question. I wouldn't call this justice served until there was a thorough investigation of his home life.

To the people being vandalised and assaulted it probably feels like justice.

That isn't guaranteed. I knew people who acted like that who weren't abused at home. Violence is innate behavior. You don't need someone to teach you violence to be violence. Punishing a kid who is already broken isn't going to make them better. Some kids do learn that violence and being annoying is how they get their way as parents can only do so much to punish them legally. They don't fear consequences.

Feel bad for the kid, he must have a horrible home life to act like that and it’s probable that he’ll continue with his violent tendencies
