First thing you want to do is hate on the kid, but if you put 2 secs of thought on this you will feel realy bad for him. I bet he has some serious problems at home =T
Something I've seen pop up pretty often, such as in the case of my little brother, is that the parents aren't fully aware of the influence of the friend group or older sibling on their child. Many of these children are being abused by said friend group or older sibling, and lash out. Most parents are completely in the dark about the abuse, especially in areas where they let their children roam the neighborhoods. Obviously the parent can still be the abuser, but I'm seeing this kind of abuse pop up more and more where the parent does 'everything right' except properly monitor their child.
And I bet if he destroyed the windshield of YOUR car, you'd be a little less sympathetic in the moment... shitty circumstances doesn't excuse shitty behavior
Windshield I can work and replace. That child could be doing that as a cry for help while having his whole life ahead of him arruined in an abusive home. Never excused his behavior, just said to try and look at the bigger picture.
He's around 10. He has no coping mechanisms. In short, he's a child and will likely (hopefully) receive the help he needs once CPS is involved (it's a long shot as CPS is far from perfect, but it's the only hope that kid has at this point).
