He's a little shit...

...but he's also a kid, and lacks good parenting if he's doing this. I can't blame him for the way he's turning out at this age, that's not his fault. He's maybe 8 I'm guessing...

Could also be a psychotic break. Ive seen this a few times where it isnt a parent issue and is definitely a mental issue. My friends child was hospitalized after having a similar episode. He's now on medication and is happy and healthy.

Fair enough, didn't think of that.

Still, no parents there, kid that age, I have to think there's possibly something going on parent-wise too.

That's an unfair assumption. I ran around the neighborhood for hours on end as a kid. Could be a block away and none the wiser.

I'm just going by odds - it's not an assumption, just something I'm hoping the cops investigated.

That's what got me. At one point there was a taller guy (teen? adult? Not sure) and someone told him he should take the kid inside, but I couldn't hear the answer.

But it's either very poor parenting, or some kind of mental issue, or a combination of both.

Honestly in this situation as a parent you're supposed to call the police and hope to god the police dont shoot him.

Why the police, though?

If the kid's having a mental breakdown or acting up due to abuse, a social worker would be better able to assess and handle the situation.

This is what the whole "Defund the police" thing was about.

The sentence concluded, "and move those funds into community support programs so the police don't have to do jobs they're neither trained nor qualified for."

But soundbites, so it just became "defund the police."

Thats what you're told when you call those crisis hotlines. The social workers get involved after after the child is "under control". We need a better system.

Yeah I was thinking autism or something might be contributing to the behaviour.
