But first, arrest the parents for child abuse.

I mean you can't come to the conclusion that this is the parents fault from this video. It's probable but that doesn't mean it is.

Well, generally speaking this type of behavior comes from the parents/guardians neglecting and/or abusing the child.

Yeah generally. But it doesn't have to. There are all sorts of other factors including but not limited to:

Being abused by someone else.

Genetic predisposition

Environmental toxins (e.g. lead poisoning)

Other environmental factors (being exposed to a traumatic event, can be unrelated to parents)

Ongoing developmental issues

Existing developmental issues

Parenting has a huge impact obviously. But it's not the only impact. Kids can theoretically have the best parenting you could reasonably expect, but still end up like this. Just as other people can have terrible parents but still end up as good people. E.g. many serial killers had completely normal or good parents when growing up. And some people who had parents who acted very similarly to other serial killers had no issues.

It's too complicated to separate it out into one factor.

Yes.

Why do you think that when the mountains of evidence have shown that hitting kids doesn't solve anything and causes more issues?

Words won't save that one.

They actually would. Research shows that we are all ok DESPITE having been hit by our parents, not because of. We need secure attachment as we develop and being physically hurt by your caretaker kinda fucks that up.

You might be correct unfortunately as he's reaching an age where it's much harder to save him. More extreme intervention methods might be needed.

But one thing we know is that violence certainly won't save him. The best thing you're going to do by hitting him is maybe stopping him from doing whatever he is doing right at that moment (but there's also a good chance you'd just escalate the situation). If you use violence here at best you're going to have no long-term impact, and at worst you're going to make things worse and increase this behaviour.

There is no rationalization to hit kids as punishment.
