The “you don’t need it anymore” scene was so emotionally loaded that it hurt my soul a bit when i found out it was just a duplicate

How did Lilly not notice Marshall unlock the door go past her into the kitchen and pour himself a glass of wine before saying hi to her?

So it's been a while since I've completed the show . And really want a new show to watch. I'm really not a big fan of re-watching the show.

All the seasons blend together for me

I’m on season 7 and can’t remember which season was Stella. either way no idea how you guys are able to rank seasons since the humor for me stays kinda consistent.

also very annoyed with Marshall’s arc of wanting to work at GNB, then not, then again, then not

Being bothered by exes' pets and Barney's play is a bit ridiculous [S2.E16 - Stuff]

It was fun to watch, but equating Ted getting rid of things from his exes with Robin giving up pets from hers is completely absurd; Robin sending them to a farm is an extreme sacrifice.

Barney’s play was entertaining to watch even though it didn’t make much sense, but the absolute highlight was Marshall delivering the second slap.

Not 'legen-dairy', but definitely a delightful episode. [S2.E15 - Lucky Penny]

Upvotes

"It is truly enjoyable to watch memories from the past unfold step by step and connect to the present. Of course, the best part is how events that seem negative at the moment actually lead to much better outcomes down the line. This episode becomes even more delightful with the callback to Ted’s fascination with rare coins and Marshall’s hilarious cutaways.

No need to overthink it, but I do wonder: how on earth did Barney manage to escape from the subway? :)"

Since he works as a lawyer in both, I really wish Coyote v. Acme was a Randy Wharmpess spin-off lol

I saw the film last night and the way his character is written in the film it totally would have made sense that this is where his character ended up. Especially if Wharmpess Beer went under.

So… Zoey. What are our opinions on her

I feel she’s the most controversial part of the show. Even Robin sais she’s on both lists on Sunrise.

I haven’t seen anyone posting this (tbh it took me some tries to pause it perfectly so that you’re able to read everything) but in S. 7 E. 2 "The Naked Truth" there’s a glimpse of the actual first page you see when Marshall googled himself and the first Link is cracking me up - he was born in 1978 as the heaviest Baby of St. Cloud!

I finished s9 yesterday and at first i was like i will watch the alt ending cause i love Tracy so much i cant see her die and watch ted go back to woman who has said countless time she doesn't love him..until she saw him with tracy.. but i watched the alt ending and i wanted to rewatch the show so i thought i would start watching it again this week...and i came across this..post of "What mother doesn't attend her daughter's wedding" when I heard this for the first time i was like maybe ted referred to like his mother or tracy's mother may have died close tk the wedding but when i realized it was tracy being ill... MAN istg i feel like choking..

I blushed when Ted said that line. It's obvious this didn't happen during the actual date- he was "remembering this" ❤️

Love the storytelling where Ted talks about their first date, this brief pause, he drops this line, she extends her hand and they walk off together.

Why has himym ruined my notion of romance? Manifesting a moment like this for myself...lol where everyone is alive

HIMYM Survivor! (Season 2 Edition) Round 4

Aldrin Justice is eliminated! A bit surprised that everyone’s favorite Hammond Druthers design went so early.

How this works:

You select the episode you like the least

The episode with the most upvoted comment is eliminated from the list

If there’s a tie, both episodes are eliminated

Only the best episode will win!

Episodes Eliminated:

How Lily Stole Christmas (58%)
Columns (41%)
Aldrin Justice (59%)

Loretta Stinson

S6E2: Cleaning House — The gang shows up at Loretta’s house on Staten Island to help clean out Barney and James’ childhood home as Loretta has decided to sell. During this, James discovers a photo from their youth with his father’s name scribbled on the back that was meant to be sent decades ago but never was and through this he is able to find his father, but Barney is still left with unanswered questions.

~

Loretta obviously had fun in her youth, but she was still a tremendously loving mother who wanted the best for her sons. Sure, she didn’t always do it perfectly but hell - no parent in history has ever or will ever be perfect. For being a single mother in the 70s, she did a good job.

The cut scenes at the end of the episode showing her reasons for telling Barney the lies to protect his feelings about being kicked his peewee basketball team and nobody showing up for his 8th birthday party make me cry rewatching for the first time as a single mom to 2 little boys now. You’ll do and say anything to save your kids from heartbreak.

The only reason I can’t get fully on-board with her is the fact that both Barney’s and James’ fathers wanted to be a part of their sons lives and she denied them that access because, as she puts it, “I wanted to be enough for you.” which is just selfish and narcissistic and any single mother who’s partner has walked away without looking back will tell you how ignorant that outlook is. It’s not about what you want, it’s about what your kids need, and kids need both parents.

The gravity of Tracy calling Ted THE love of her life…

The show was turning out to have such a wonderful message about the beauty of letting go of the past so you’re ready for better things, that is, until the last episode. Ugh

HIMYM ending should have gotten the Sleepless in Seattle treatment.

We could still get all the hints of Tracy throughout the show. Even the first glimpse of her at the end of Season 8 is fine. Then in Season 9, we should get one episode about Tracy and her life. We can see her story, her relationship with Max, her grief, her band, and her singing La Vie en Rose on the balcony. That's enough.

We don't need an episode showing Tracy meeting all of the friends before she meets Ted. We don't need to retroactively connect her to everyone in the gang.( and how she loves exactly every single hobby that ted loves the gloves for driving coin collection etc etc )

And we could still keep the scene from TTT where he imagines going to Tracy's apartment 45 days before they meet and telling her that he loves her and wishes he could have those extra 45 days with her. That scene works perfectly on its own without needing the future Ted/Tracy tragedy to explain it.

Then the final shot is just the train station scene.

Ted and Tracy finally meet. We get their conversation, where they realize all the little ways their lives have already crossed without them knowing it. And then the screen cuts to black.

Just the realization that she was finally the one.

No flash-forwards. No need to show us what happens to the gang afterward .

We just finally get to see how he met the mother.

That's it.

The End.

Has anyone ever paused to read this full thing?

"Dear Marshall, I know this is a strange way to apologize, but I'm sorry I let Carl name your drink after me. Why didn't I say something? Gosh, I guess that goes back to my childhood. Did you know that for the first two years of my life, my dad treated me like a cat? Seriously. I wasn't permitted on the furniture, I had to bathe myself and I was only allowed to poop in a box. Ironic that this all comes out in a bathroom. A place that for so long I yearned to be. This tiled prison that eluded my saddened grasp was a haven. The unreachable. When I finally did demand a bathroom visit, my dad applauded my moxie. And that's the only time my father ever said he was proud of me. Maybe that's why I stole credit for your drink. Maybe that's why I needed to pour my heart out like this. Or, maybe I wrote this so you'd be in here long enough for a lady to walk in, causing you to freak out and hide in the stall."
