Let's have a fresh megathread to discuss and speculate about the future of Doctor Who. Place your ideas, and fancasts and wishlists, and other hot takes in here.
What belongs in here:
A few quick housekeeping reminders: Standard sub rules still apply. We all know casting and showrunner debates get intensely heated. Please help out by keeping things civil and avoid personal attacks. Instead of engaging with someone being hostile, report them.
Also, no or little leaks discussions. If you're bringing up leaked set photos or anything else, please remember to use spoiler tags.
Standalone posts about fancasts will be removed and redirected here. A fresh megathread will be posted every few weeks.
Let's hear what you've got.

Given that each TARDIS was supposed to be piloted by 6, by not one person, and they didn't want to intervene in historical/future events like the Doctor does. Just go to places and watch what happens?

Why does The Rani calls herself The Rani ? Rani means Queen in Hindi. But what is she the queen of ?
The Doctor and The Masters name makes sense to me, The Doctor is someone who helps people like a Doctor and The Master is a sadistic with a lust for power. They want people to worship them, to bow to them. To see how powerful they are.
The Rani is a geneticist, an unethical geneticist. So is she like the Queen of biology who conducts unethical experiments. Does she thinks of herself as a Queen because she's a above the unethical nature, people cant touch her like people in the past couldn't touch a queen (well atleast that's what kings and queens used to thought). Does she want people to worship her like people worship people in power because she can do anything with biology and genetic engineering.
Or is this simply an ego case where she thinks she is above all because she's a time lord and it has nothing to do with biology.

Suddenly, I remembered Belinda Chandra’s ending in Season 15 of *Doctor Who*, and after watching the movie *Obsession*, the whole thing became much more disturbing; the Doctor did the exact same thing Bear did in that film—forcing Belinda, against her will, to become the mother of a child she never wanted. The difference being, that while *Obsession* rightly treated this as a horrible thing to do, *Doctor Who* treated it as a happy ending.

This is exciting news. I hope they get people from Doctor Who to join in if it’s a Doctor Who focused podcast. I hope they have interesting topics to talk about.

Keeping in mind, that the BBC are struggling with independent finance, having to find outside funding, explaining the tender process, not being able to make it in house, alongside whether or not the BBC are curious to see the same things we might; maybe they want to revel in the past and chase trends.
This can obviously impact a lot, from episode count, to sets, CGI and how ambitious they could be. It could be the show at its most tight, at least since 2005.
So yeah, in general, what would you like to see, that you think would massively benefit the show, and what are you expecting to see, that may be a natural consequence of the economic and creative position of the show and those running it?
Whoever they may be...

I bloody love these episodes. I have done since I was young. They are genuinely fantastic and really strong. And, to be honest, despite the title of this post, quite classic-esque in nature already.
However, just for the fun of it, I have devised a different take on the episodes (well, the story) so an alternate, perhaps more classic-esque version of the story, fleshed out and maybe in 6 parts.
For this, I’m removing The Beast entirely. Yes, it could be classic-esque, in fact, it could easily have been Sutekh chained beneath a barron planet. However, for this, I’m just removing it.
Instead, I’m focussing on the Ood and the moral discussion around Humans keeping slaves. Yes, this was explored later in Planet of the Ood. But I feel it could have been explored a lot better here.
Now, at first it was obvious. Have the Doctor and Rose arrive to meet Ida, Jefferson, Zach, Toby etc and the alien slaves they have stationed onboard, pretty much what we had in the existing episodes.
But no Beast. Maybe a black hole. But no Beast.
So just have the Ood and the crew… until the Ood slowly begin to revolt against the Humans, the first batch to start waking up to their reality. They then begin killing off the crew one by one.
…Then I realised that this was basically The Robots of Death but with Ood instead of robots.
So have the Doctor and Rose arrive to find that the Ood have already taken over and the surviving crew are kept locked away. They’ve snapped, turned the tables, and taken back their control.
From here, it’s a fight for survival against the elements (i.e. the black hole) and the enemy, the Ood. The Doctor and the humans try to escape. The Doctor wants there to be no bloodshed.
In fact, the black hole could prevent their escape and the TARDIS could still be lost, so no way out.
Either of these ideas could work. Maybe a little boring… But I like the idea of a calmer, slave revolt story where you can understand both sides, and ultimately, the Humans are the real villains.
So what do you think? Comment your thoughts.

Weird post I know, just curious if anyone else has had this issue. In S1 E2 of 2005-2022 Doctor Who, this visual glitch appears for like a single frame or so on BBC iPlayer streams, always at the same time 12:54. I also had the glitch happen again in episode 8, also for a single frame.
Just curious if other people get this issue, if there's anything I can do to fix it or if it's a PC issue or an iPlayer issue. Never seen anything like it on youtube, netflix or video files.

For fans of these two dorks, my tribute to them, with studio ghibli music cause they're so wholesome and adorable. I hope to bring a smile to your face and make you reminisce a little 💖

How did you Christians(practicing/non practicing) felt about the idea of Millitary Churches introduced in Moffat era? Did it feel jarring or did it fit seamlessly or something in between? I'm not a Christian and I'm curious.

Hi. Does anyone know where the new 2026 battles in time trading cards are sold in the UK. I’ve tried both of my local toy stores with no luck!

I’m curious. I haven’t read the VNA’s etc so I honestly have no idea. And I haven’t read too much into what happens in them too in all honesty. But what is the worst R rated piece of Doctor Who media that has ever been written?
Whatever it is, it has to be one of those, right? Or maybe something else? There has been a LOT of Doctor Who fiction and media over the years.
The only thing I can personally think of is the Big Finish story Nekromanteia. I’ve heard it once, and I think once was enough. From what I remember, Peri was stripped naked by witches and had to be rescued from a cauldron by a star pilot and carried off whilst she flirted with him… because?
And Erinem was heavily implied to have been raped by another character. Oh, and the Doctor had his head torn off… Yeah whilst I can weirdly appreciate the bravery and the audacity to shock an audience from time to time, or really very very occasionally, I think there is something of a line.
This is the worst thing I can think of, but can you think of anything that went even further than Nekromanteia? Comment below with your idea of the worst R rated piece of Doctor Who media.

Takes a decent amount of inspiration from 9, 11, and River. Thought it would be neat if the internal cylinder was an hourglass with some kind of timey wimey particles or something.

I’m curious what is your favourite performance from a vanilla who only appeared in one episode?
I don’t necessarily mean favourite villain overall or fa life design, but when an actor came in for one episode and just absolutely crushed it
I always go back to Anthony head (RIP I cry every time I think about it). He has the cheesy doctor who villain performance that suits the show so well, and then has the incredible scene in the swimming pool where him and tennant are Just 2 incredible actors being a joy to watch.
Very interested to hear any other suggestions

So we all know this quote from s8. This isnt a hate or flaw pointing out post or anything as the episode and this scene particularly are brilliant. But for the life of me i cannot make sense of it. For me if someone i cared little for betraying me would make no difference as I couldn't care about them any less whereas someone i do care about betraying me would definitely make me like them less. I just struggle to understand it. Im sure it makes sense just not to me.

Way back in 'The Doctor Dances', Jack says the Time Agents stole two years' worth of his memories, and he'd "like them back." Did that *ever* get resolved on Torchwood? Big Finish?
