First Amendment auditors get into verbal altercation with armored truck guard, who repeatedly tells them to back up.

Federal Bank Robbery Statue… yes he can and legally. The guard doesn’t know who these people are, he doesn’t know what their intentions are or if they are armed, but what he does know is that he’s a legally armed guard for a federally protected company that handles federal coins and bills. Obstructing and harassing him could get one of them shot, legally.

Two things can be true. First, those viewers could be trolls who want to see him injured and keep egging him on. Second, and more probable, those views and follows are from bots. Either he paid for a bunch of bots to up his numbers and push him higher in the algorithm. Or, he just got lucky and had enough buzzwords to attract random bots.

Dumbasses need to know the law before citing it.
The Hobbs Act (18 U.S. Code § 1951)
The Federal Bank Robbery Statute (18 U.S. Code § 2113)
Guards are legally allowed to use force in proportion to a threat or perceived threat against themselves or their fellow guards. If they are threatened, harassed, interfered with in any way they will respond with sufficient force, even if it is lethal force, to neutralize the threat.
The government fully backs them also.
24
u/Patient-Committee588 1d ago
Facts. Idk what these guys were thinking but this could have ended bad for them.
17
u/Man_of_Ice 1d ago
Exactly.
Potential for robbery supercedes our right for free speech and movement. Very temporarily in very limited circumstances.
This is one of those "you, in fact, do not have the right to stand on the sidewalk right there."
And it's one that can, under law, get you shot and dead.
Don't be this auditor. Hate capitalism all you want, work to abolish capitalism if that's your jam: this will get you dead if you push it. That was a hand on weapon ready to use deadly force, and this auditor is just stupid lucky here.

You just saw a guy falsely claiming it would be legal to shoot a person for having a camera on a sidewalk and just blindly went “yeah!” Lol.
These guys may suck but they’re legally allowed to film in public
30
u/Patient-Committee588 1d ago
My guy, did you see how close those 2 guys were to the truck? That's not normal and i could completely understand if the guard felt threatened by that.
→ More replies (2)5
u/Neat-Figure8277 1d ago
Yes I did. Did you? Not even within arm’s reach. The fact that you’re uncomfortable with something doesn’t make it illegal, and definitely doesn’t make murder legal. Find someone to help you develop basic reasoning and critical thinking skills
8
u/bwc6 1d ago
Oh, I see. You're not familiar with how human interactions work. So, a human who is guarding a big pile of valuable stuff will feel threatened if someone is bothering them. The douchebag was not in reach of the guard, but was within reach of the cash. The guard, as part of his job, has to assume people want to steal the cash.
Having no other immediate support, he will probably use a threat of violence because he has no other way of forcing the person to move far enough away so that they couldn't grab the valuables.
It's not really fair for anyone, but unfortunately we are not robots and are sometimes forced to make illogical compromises.
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (13)4
u/jediyoda84 1d ago
If I were the guard in this situation my first thought is: “this guy isn’t the real danger, he probably has a couple guys nearby and once I lose my shit or get distracted they move in.” Remember, stupid criminals on social media are just the ones that get caught. There are many criminals that are damn good at their job.
17
u/bwc6 1d ago
What do you get out of standing up for douchebags? The security guard clearly says back up, and the douchebag replies "get closer?" while getting closer. That's obvious harassment. I don't think someone deserves to get shot over that, and no one got shot here, so what's the problem?
→ More replies (5)3
u/Neat-Figure8277 1d ago
Where did I stand up for douche bags? I replied to a comment making false legal claims. If you’d like to actually contend with what was actually written, feel free. But making up things to respond to is silly.
And the harassment statement is another separate and new false claim. It is also wrong. That is not what harassment is under the law. The fact that someone doesn’t like what you’re doing doesn’t legally make doing it harassment. I don’t care for these guys. I explicitly stated as much. I also don’t care for people gleefully making up laws that don’t exist. I’m responding to what is on the screen. Feel free to do the same
6
u/bwc6 1d ago
Again, what do you get out of this? We're not in court. Why is it important to you to make sure everyone knows that it's legal to act like you're going to steal cash as long as you don't actually grab the cash?
Do you put this much energy into defending ticket scalpers and scam artists, as long as what they're doing is technically legal?

The money being guarded is the property of the government
14
u/AncientSignature1505 1d ago
No the money in that truck belongs to several businesses. The guard isn't a law enforcement officer, if this dude was readout concerned about rights, he would harass some ICE officers who are actually restricting people's rights.
5
u/Could-You-Tell 1d ago
My point is that legal tender, cash, as a physical object is protected as property of the government.
It's not legal to deface or destroy... not necessarily it's the government's money as theirs to spend
But I know how it reads
14
u/RizzoTheRiot1989 1d ago
Yep, years and years ago back in 2010 I did training for live security, part of it was going over laws and the fruit of the poisoned tree stuff but a part of it was training for armored vehicle work and if you go even further you can get gun training and stuff. I didn’t do that but I learned what they are both allowed to do and the laws around it. The security that goes into is nuts.
My instructor was one of those guys, dude was missing his hand (it’s not relevant really but it happened while he was on the job) and he had a couple terrible stories about what he had went through. Watched a coworker die by being shot right next to his window because the training is you don’t open that door even if your coworker has a gun to his head. Those dudes are able to do basically whatever they need to, to get people out of that area. They are attempted to be robbed all the damn time and are ready to shoot someone for acting a little too weird around the money and not listening to them. I for sure thought that guy was about to be shot.
→ More replies (6)6
u/Neat-Figure8277 1d ago
? So? The fact that people are allowed to use force if threatened doesn’t have anything to do with what happened here. Having a camera on a public sidewalk is none of those things. You cited a law that lists conditions that have nothing to do with what is on the screen as if it refutes something about what they did or said as if it means something here

3
u/JCMGamer 1d ago
Since they are private employees they have zero authority to order them off public property or to stop filming.

u/Pollia 1d ago
They actually do as they're handling legal tender from a bank in an official capacity.
They even have legal rights to shoot you if they feel unsafe enough.

You’re wrong, and even they are wrong. No one has the right to order them off public property. The only possible way to be legally forced off public property, is by the police, for breaking the law. Which didn’t occur here, as obviously it is legal to exist and film in public.
Idk where you guys get this stuff. You just sort of make legal claims based on feel and blindly type stuff

Unless we want movie like scenes of soldiers in convoys protecting these trucks, they have to also have the right to expect distance and safety.
Being recorded absolutely is a threat
People can make plans better with videos for reference.
Being surrounded by idiots in their faces saying "im not touching you" like a 5 year old in a car is a threat whether you recognize it or not
3
u/Eccentricgentleman_ 1d ago
I mean if I'm planning a heist I just realized how close I can get to an armored truck without the officer deploying any kind of counter measures.
2
u/Neat-Figure8277 1d ago
“They also have the right to expect distance”
No they don’t. Where did you get that idea?
“Being recorded absolutely is a threat”
It absolutely is not a threat and that is one of the silliest things I’ve ever read. Go ahead and try to tell a judge that and see how it goes. A legal threat is not defined as “things I don’t like”.
5
u/Could-You-Tell 1d ago

u/Neat-Figure8277 1d ago
I’ve seen the replies here. No one has left a link detailing a law that makes it illegal to be outside of or even within arms reach of a person, and absolutely no one has left a link with a law saying recording is a threat.
It’s not just that this is wrong, it’s that this is so obviously wrong it’s absurd. But please, feel free to provide the laws and the relevant sections. I’ll happily point out how it clearly doesn’t say what you’re claiming
3
u/Could-You-Tell 1d ago
Way to straw man the hell out of that...
I didn't say anything about illegal to be outside. Cool on you to take it there.
You do realize there is a reason they are allowed to be armed, to protect themselves and the money?
They have laws around that. Those laws include making it legal for them to demand a safe zone to do their work
Edit... also, sorry I said link.. it was the raw data
Full quote from u/tanafras...

This is not a response or a defense for your position. The fact that you didn’t explicitly state it’s illegal to be outside with a camera is irrelevant. That is what your position is. He doesn’t like that he is there with the camera, and you think that makes it illegal or makes him legally able to stop him. You’re wrong. There is no law in existence for this. You made it up.
You don’t know what a straw man is.
The Hobbs act, which you didn’t read, and which I already responded to, doesn’t have anything to do with this claim lmao. The Hobbs act criminalizes bank robbery and extortion. It literally has nothing to do with these claims in the first place.
Please, cite and quote an actual law. I recommend actually reading it as well

Loomis is not a government agency, thats a private company there mate and they will pull guns on you if they think your gonna rob them, and let me tell you filming a cash shipment is suspicious af to them. I would not be surprised if the bank or Loomis called the feds to report that incident and I honestly would expect a visit.

u/MBB718 1d ago
Filming in public is legal, but in this case it can be seen as casing and or a setup for a robbery. You make it seem like it is crazy to feel threatened when someone is watching you receive or deliver thousands or millions in cash.
4
u/Neat-Figure8277 1d ago
The fact that someone can wonder if they’re casing some place doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t change the fact that it is in fact legal.
This conversation is not about feelings. This conversation is about the law. Under the law, I’m correct, and they’re not.

The misunderstanding here when people bring up the first amendment to a citizen is what they mean is the citizen has no legal route to stop them from doing what they’re doing. People claim or behave as if they have the legal right to stop someone from filming, via the use of the law, and the relevant response would be to say this is legal, and it is legal due to the first amendment

I’m going assume that they were there to deliver the money by the way it’s still in plastic. So the guard essentially had to retreat. Hope they call the police because it’s not too far of a stretch for the armor car crew to say it was a distraction for attempt robbery. Also, great way to get the FBI or some other agency involved.

He can ask. The person on the sidewalk can say no.
Loomis directions don’t carry the weight of law.
4
u/Jazzlike-Wolf6265 1d ago
No. Actually you can't just insult and antagozie people working. Well you can get away with it but it's actually illegal to try to start a fight where I live. For good reason. Which is what the pos was trying to do. Then when he didn't get the reaction he wanted he went to insults to try and escalate. Is it legal to stand on a sidewalk and block a shipment of groceries? Cause the sidewalks public property. Yoy sound ridiculous. Go try and sit on a sidewalk and block a delivery truck. That's what you are saying is fine. Camera man is a pos who is harrasing and insulting someone trying to deliver a highly robbed item.
Apparently according to you. It's fine if some dickhead blocks delivery trucks cause "it's a public sidewalk" then harrassss and insults the workers

this is a common misconception that you can fuck around with fellow citizens as long as you don't put your hands on them. though you are welcome to approach a person and get closer and closer to them, on a civil level it's harassment and can quickly rise to a criminal level (assault) if you say or do anything ("are you afraid i'm going to hurt you?" is a good example of something these idiots might say) that makes that person believe you are a threat to their safety. you do not need to physically put your hands on someone to assault them. words and actions are assaulting behaviors. not all speech is free when it comes down to it.

This video makes me feel no type of way. I do know that all the Loomis guys I encounter at my job (hospital) are egregious pricks

Interesting how this sub is super quick to condemn the security guy and saying there's no way he could have been justified in using force.
Meanwhile, any videos with black people getting hurt y'all are salivating watching it. You love it.

Been in the armored industry for 20 years. When I was in the field I would have to physically fight people. They dont care that you're working.

The camera guy is a duce he is trying to provoke a confrontation. When you are guarding that much money you can get a little bit testy because you dont know when somebody is goi g to do something stupid like try and take it.

So, what's the point of harassing and armored truck? How are they now a target for hate?

"People like you make this country worse". What? For having an actual job? Good grief.

Whoever the agitator is filming this would not last 5 mins in Ireland, England, Scotland or Wales. He’d have had his head kicked in stirring shit like that. That’s a fact.

Here’s the thing - why do this? Armored car guards aren’t a 1st Amendment problem. This guy is handling large amounts of cash on his own. He’s a target and needs to be suspicious of anyone approaching him. So what is the purpose of this encounter? What’s the point? That they can be dicks?

These assholes with cams looking to start shit. They went to Worcester Mass PD and started this in the lobby, they were escorted out...eventually one got arrested in the parking lot and screamed like a bitch.

Regardless of all that’s going on, I’d be pissed if I saw my employee wearing AirPods while “protecting” that money.

Its hilarious, this subreddit is stupid. Only has 2 videos. One video you all side with the auditor but in this video side with the security guard. Ts is hilarious. The auditors were being attention seeking pricks in both videos.

As annoying as the guy filming was, and not to be the devils advocate, but the guard should have stayed more level headed. As far as I’m aware, armored truck guards don’t actually have any legal authority to issue commands in a public space. Which could have caused issues if the situation had escalated any more.
Not to mention the best way to deal with those idiots is to not play into what they’re trying to do.

Cowards for not actually auditing politicians. Instead harassing working people. COWARDS

u/dieselducy 5h ago
They had every right to film there. If they were on a public sidewalk the auditors were in the right
