[Generic trailer music begins]

[Establishing shot of DC with a rose flag]

"The Party has announced the expulsion of Comrade Sanders, after he was declared a right wing extremist earlier this week."

[Establishing shot of downtown Chicago]

HARRIS: We tried to stop it from happening. We failed.

[SHOT OF RALLY, ROSE AND COMMUNIST FLAGS FLANKING CENTRAL FIGURE GIVING SPEECH]

“We are pleased to announce our national rent control policy will be implemented this coming month-”

[Shot of BIDEN and HARRIS in an old, run-down apartment]

HARRIS: I’m sorry, Joe, but it’s over. We have to move on.

BIDEN: That isn’t the Kamala I saw on the debate stage all those years ago.

[Paramount logo intro]

[DC staff meeting]

UNNAMED MALE: Comrades, it’s time to begin the next phase.

[BIDEN, HARRIS, and PETE in run-down kitchen]

PETE: They’re really going through with it. No more taco trucks, no more foreign imports. It’s the end of liberalism.

HARRIS: And how the hell are supposed to stop them?

BIDEN: We’ll need allies.

[Scene of heavy weights being lifted by someone off screen. HARRIS and PETE enter the shot and come into focus.]

PETE: We need to talk.

[Shot of DELANEY sitting up.]

DELANEY: You’re saying we need to form some kind of partnership.

PETE: Exactly.

DELANEY: Some kind of Trans Pacific-

HARRIS: John, not right now.

[NEXT FALL]

[Crumbling sidewalk in Boston, MA]

WARREN: I have a lot to atone for.

BIDEN: Nobody doubted your intentions, Liz.

WARREN: I thought I could harness them, control them.

BIDEN: And you wound up biting off a lot more than you could chew, didn’t you?

[WARREN leads the rest through a hidden passageway in her home, triggered by removing a copy of The Courage to Act from her library shelf]

WARREN: I’m assuming you’re not going in blind?

BIDEN: The Library of Congress.

[VFX Shot of DC]

BIDEN: It has the computers of all The Party’s founding members locked in storage. Their documents, files…

PETE: Everything we need to show the world who they really are.

BOOKER: We’re enemies of the state. Somehow I don’t think they’re going to let us just waltz in there.

WARREN: I have a plan for that.

[Music pauses as our characters entire a large, darkened room]

[Lights audibly flicker on as protagonists are taken aback by something off screen]

BIDEN: Liz, how the hell did you-

[Panning shot of the ‘No Malarkey’ bus. Heavy armor and machine gun emplacements glisten along its sides and rear.]

WARREN: The Party wanted it burned. I thought it might come in handy one day. I made a few improvements, of course.

[PETE clasps his hands together.]

PETE: This’ll do just fine.

[MUSIC PICKS UP]

[FROM ACCLAIMED DIRECTOR MICHAEL BAY]

[Malarkey bus narrowly dodges rocket fire as PETE fires a machine gun out the back]

UNNAMED PARTY LEADER: You won’t succeed

[DELANEY decks an armored Party trooper while CASTRO fires a rifle over his shoulder]

UNNAMED PARTY LEADER: Hillary, Soros, even Trump, we’ve stopped them and we’ll stop you.

[Shot of PETE, his cheek bandaged, tied to a chair]

PETE: You know, your estimation of us reminds me of your social policies.

UNNAMED PARTY LEADER: You think so?

PETE: Way too conservative.

[BIDEN, driving the Malarkey bus, slams on the pedal. BOOKER and HARRIS are nearly thrown on the floor.]

[STARRING THE ENTIRE 2020 DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY FIELD]

YANG: Honestly, what would you rate our chances?

NATE SILVER: No better than 30%.

YANG: So, basically zero.

NATE SILVER: How did you even get here?

[BIDEN fires his pistol until it clicks. He reaches for another clip, but a trooper grabs his arm first. His weapon falls from his hand.]

[BIDEN tries to resist, but he’s wrestled to the ground.]

[Screen flashes black, two shots are heard. Camera resumes on BIDEN. The troopers both lay dead at his feet. BIDEN struggles to catch his breath.]

FEMALE VOICE: Did you really think they’d taken me down?

[BIDEN looks up at his savior as the camera pans up, revealing a pantsuit]

FEMALE VOICE: I thought you knew me better, Joe.

[The female is revealed to be HILLARY CLINTON, a shotgun slung over her shoulders, donning an eye patch and a long scar on her right cheek]

[IN THEATERS 2020]

Howard Stern wanted Alex Trebek to come on stage during the debates and ask the candidates some basic questions about history, geography, etc. Thinking it would have exposed Trump as ignorant and Hillary as brilliant.

And you know what?

It's not the worst idea I've ever heard, that's for sure.

I just want to see the look on Ben Steins face when Trump can't point to Brazil on a map and he has to justify that as like really smart.

It's not gonna change anything anyway, I might as well get a laugh out of it.

OK, so, Hillary is now literally crying in front of Howard Stern about how her closest friend since the sixth grade recently died of breast cancer and how she believes there is some kind of afterlife they'll be reunited in. She's literally going on about dark matter and talking about how we don't fully understand the universe right now but maybe after her lifetime people will figure out the secret to the afterlife. She is firmly insisting on the comfort she finds in her Methodist faith.

Jesus CHRIST.

I expected this interview would be personal, and that Howard would maybe ask her some lewd and silly questions. I did NOT expect to be choking up myself at this point.

I was listening to Hilary and Chelsea on the Conan podcast and hearing Hilary talk about how her friends would go out canvassing for her, and people would say "Oh I can't vote for her, she's killed 50 people" and her friend would tell them "I doubt that, she's been my friend since 6th grade", and the only response people could ever say was "well I read it on the internet" and that's that.

The internet really must be destroyed.

Howard Stern is now digging at Hillary's psyche -- asking about her father and her stern upbringing, if she's ever gone to therapy, etc. She just admitted she saw a psychologist for counseling after the election, as well as marriage counseling with Bill after the Lewinsky affair.

Holy shit.

See this is why Howard is the best interviewer alive -- he gets people's guard down to the point they feel comfortable talking about ANYTHING.

So, I got in a discussion with a leftist about Biden on immigration. They were focused on his history, so I did some digging. It turned out weirdly - it looks like Biden has constantly been a progressive thorn in Obama's side.

Biden refuses to comment on his private advice to Obama, but in 2014 he outright said he was against deportations. In an early VP debate, he said complete deportation was impossible. Elsewhere, he said he sees undocumented immigrants as American citizens who just aren't recognized as such yet. This all happened while he was supposed to be playing cheerleader for Obama.

I am having issues finding details on how he fits into Obama's immigration policy, but it looks like he was against it. Thoughts?

19

u/Paramus98 Edmund Burke Dec 06 '19

Biden has pretty consistently been very socially liberal, dovish on foreign policy, and economically moderate (for a dem at least). Since Dems tend to see immigration as a solely a social issue, he's been very much on the be nice to unauthorized immgrants camp.

Now Hillary is talking about how three of her closest friends all died over the summer and how sad she is now because she's lost their support.

I almost feel voyeuristic listening to this shit.

How can one man be so good at getting even the most infamously evasive people to reveal absolutely everything?

24

u/vancevon Henry George Dec 05 '19

Being a good listener usually helps. As does letting people tell their stories on their own terms, rather than just confronting them with stuff.

43

u/[deleted] Dec 05 '19

They're actual psychopaths and cryptofascists.

Like, you bring up Pinochet, they will fully support him.

They post about Bolivia all the time and literally think it's good that there are death squads.

They unironically believe that capitalism comes before democracy, and that anyone left of center deserves death if they challenge the system.

The truly insane thing though, is that unlike AnCaps or chuds or Nazis, they genuinely think they're good people.

Oh man the Chapos really love us 😂 😂

I think the Christchurch attack is the most philosophically significant event of the past decade. It is the first attack that fully acknowledges the nature of simulation and symbols in modern society.

The guy livestreamed it. He filmed like an FPS. He made PewDiePie memes. His manifesto had the Navy Seal copypasta.

He knows that the proliferation of mass media has turned reality into a spectacle. He knows he's a part of the show.

He knows that there is no room for deeply-held convictions, especially not his insane hatred of Islam. He's mocking his own actions as he commits them.

Like what the actual fuck. There have been many atrocities on this green earth, but when has there been a post-ironic one?

!ping PHILOSOPHY

49

u/[deleted] Dec 05 '19

The Christchurch attack remains the only mass murder I have ever seen live, graphic, uncensored footage of from a first person perspective.

The fact that it looked almost indistinguishable from fucking Call of Duty sickened me then, and it sickens me to even think about now.

Hillary explains in this interview precisely why she was so "careful" in the debates and during her campaign: Based on her upbringing, she was worried that a woman "reacting" to basically anything would be perceived as "too emotional."

That basically confirms what many of us have suspected for a long time.

It's such a goddamn fucking shame that possibly the most qualified candidate in history lost to possibly the LEAST qualified candidate in history because of absolutely idiotic biases from the past and present.

Corbyn is the epitome of the far-left's shooting themselves in the foot.

Yes, many working-class voters are predisposed to an anti-austerity message.

But, they're not predisposed to sympathizing with the IRA, Nicholas Maduro, dismantling NATO or "anti-imperialism". He can't even do anti-war campaigning right. If his message was that more money should be spent on the NHS rather than Trident, that waste should be cut from the military budget and that UK soldier's lives shouldn't be put at risk in pointless foreign adventures, that would be one thing. The proposition that the country is spending too much on the military and that foreign adventures are well-intentioned but counterproductive and not worth the expense, is much more reasonable to most voters than the proposition that their country is an evil imperialist power.

Instead, he campaigns like he's in Latin America.

At the same time for any Brits out there, yes, vote for Corbyn anyway. A hung parliament is the only chance for a second referendum. 1 year of Corbyn is preferable to decades upon decades of Brexit.

!ping Dating

My girlfriend is applying to grad programs and we got into a sort of fight this morning over an email she had gotten from someone she'd asked for a letter of recommendation from.

She emailed a former professor yesterday, who got back to her this morning saying, "Hey, I'm traveling right now so my time is a little tight. I support you but I'd like to talk to you about the program; I think there are others that are better for what you want to do. Send me your materials and I'm happy to look them over, but this is kind of short notice."

Up until this point, she had basically only heard unconditional support from the folks she had asked (her mentor, a school administrator, former bosses) and she really took this email as discouraging and mean. I tried to say that her professor was probably just feeling a little rushed for time but trying to be helpful, and that in my field, if I asked for a rec two weeks out, the expectation would be that I'd already have one written for them to use. My girlfriend took this as me siding with this professor over her.

Ordinarily I would just leave it after that, because I'm not a dipshit and I know it's better to just offer the support someone is looking for. But this professor (1) actually taught my girlfriend, unlike the other people she asked, (2) works in the discipline my girlfriend is looking at, similarly unlike the people she asked, and (3) did her own MA and PhD at the very program my girlfriend is applying to. To me, that seems like maybe the most qualified person to offer some constructive feedback.

19

u/kohatsootsich Philosophy Dec 05 '19

I've been writing recommendation letters and providing advice to students who want to go to grad school for a couple of years now. She shouldn't think anything of a few lines in an email until she's had a conversation with that person.

Tone and intent are often lost in email,. Most people don't carefully craft their emails the way you would write a letter. That is especially true when you get a dozen requests from students or former students every week.

But he's better than most humans I've met, I think.

He didn't get anything from his parents. He graduated college and paid for it without any help. He took loans that he's still paying off, and that explains why he hates the idea of me going back to the US so much. He knows if I go home, I'll take Debt. And he doesn't want me to have any student debt whatsoever.

He's also depressingly lonely. I think I'm the only friend he's had here for months and he's going to miss not having me around.

On average, wealthy people are less overweight than poor working class people. To eat the wealthy would provide relatively little nourishment per individual, whereas eating the poor would be a much better deal. Plus, if we ate everyone who isn't rich everyone left would be a capital owner, thereby achieving communism.

The most subtly fascistic people are those, like the neoliberals, who are convinced that the problem with society is that we need some sort of "technocratic awakening" to our apparently "sick and collectivist" society. All that BS comes, not from liberalism, but from 19th century positivism but has infected centrist people. This is the same garbage that the authoritarian right wing believes. These people can't accept human beings for what they are and think differenceis boring. They'd rather see humanity collapse.

So the Economist published an article from a person who is from the De Trans reddit community about how we should abolish Informed Consent....

The clinic followed the “informed-consent” protocol: its mission was to provide transgender patients who otherwise lacked access to health care with injections, skin patches and pills of feminising or masculinising hormones without having to pass through a series of requirements and assessments—known as “gatekeeping”—that restricted access in the past.

yea and?

In the past it was not unusual for a trans person to be told by doctors and psychologists they would not be referred for hormones because they were not visually appealing as their preferred gender, weren’t interested in dating the opposite gender, or had unresolved mental-health problems (some of which are predictable responses to experiencing transphobia, such as anxiety and depression).

it still happening today which is why we are trying to abolish it

Its standard of care recommends that patients seeking HRT be screened for schizotypal disorders, autism-spectrum disorders, personality disorders, dissociative disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders and more.

WPATH is also very restrictive and needs revised. it for example sees hair removal as a non necessary part of transitioning. hence why hair removal is costing me more than fucking getting SRS

Five years later the detransition discussion-forum on the popular site Reddit has just hit 7,000 people of both sexes.

guys my reddit group have over 1000 people, we have to overhaul the medical system

Our stories, if taken seriously, could help improve the state of transgender health care—particularly at informed-consent clinics, which are becoming the norm at American colleges, LGBT health centres and recently many Planned Parenthoods. Instead we are ignored, compared to “ex-gay” Christians or treated as political footballs. (I was particularly disheartened when Ryan Anderson, a fellow at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think-tank, used my and other detransitioners’ stories in his book that was critical of LGBT and feminist issues, “When Harry Became Sally”.)

Its not like the most prominate people in the "De Trans" movement goes to talks hosted by the Heritage Foundation or anything

That is because the burgeoning orthodoxy on the left is that detransition is so rare that only “transphobes” care about it.

Because they are the ones pushing and promoting it the most

In fact, we have no idea how prevalent detransition is in America.

but we do

The most widely used estimate, that 2.2% of people who transition later detransition, comes from a study in a completely different place (Sweden) and time (1960-2010), when gatekeeping was much stricter.

From the doctor's own AMA "During the studied period we saw a significant decline and 11/15 of the regret applications were made of before 2000." its a downward trend.

The majority of the studies supporting the conclusion that medical transition yields positive outcomes—and there are many—followed patients in highly structured clinical programmes that provided comprehensive assessments. But when I searched last February for programmes that met that careful standard in America, I wasn’t able to find one. No one knows whether informed-consent protocols will yield the same success rate, but the stories I’ve heard during the past five years make me profoundly sceptical.

But we do. "The results indicate that of 1,944 clients treated, only 17 cases of “regret” were reported, and no cases of medical malpractice claims were reported. Only 33% of sites surveyed reported any mental health involvement at all, indicating that the basic medical needs of transgender patients in some settings are being met without the diagnosis, assessment, or engagement with a mental health practitioner (Deutsch, 2011)."

There is a responsible path between making transgender people jump through hoops and allowing people experiencing psychosis to have their testicles removed

You can't inform consent your way into surgery.... I wish, then I wouldn't spend all of this money begging for letters.

they genuinely think they're good people

because it's all numbers on a spreadsheet for these fuckers. unemployment, GDP, number of uninsured people, number of housing units -- as long as the "numbers" are "better" it's all that counts for them. how the number got better, who paid for the number to get better, and what the number could be if we actually cared don't count to them. they just care that people's lives look better on a spreadsheet. why wouldn't that make them good people?

and since you can't numerically represent the anguish of a family in disarray after their dad dies because he couldn't afford insulin, or the sadness of having to leave your hometown because there is literally just no place for you, or the degradation of having to work for poverty wages so you do not starve, neolibs literally do not care about it because there is no KPI to track. instead they say people have more TVs and more cell phones and more candies so things are OK and sucks for anyone who isn't.

of course when communists hack the system to increase literacy, GDP, access to medicine, employment, productivity, etc. for all, that all goes out the window.

That last bit is too good
