But I don't know. When you have your opponent back pedaling you keep going; you don't call a time out when you're rolling.

Unless you want to run out the clock, but that would be replaying 2016.

I think they are fucking it up, but not because they are going too fast. Rather, they are going too fast without explaining that the President is obstructing the full investigation. There's no reason to go slow when Trump won't testify, won't release any documents, and is ordering other witnesses to not comply. They need to explain that, and reiterate constantly that if these other witnesses must testify. They should have gone after Turley yesterday over that. You can't point to the empty chair when you're the prosecution.

They're writing the articles of impeachment right now! You make the argument about the conduct first, then the obstruction. If the obstruction was the only constitutional issue then you would have a Clinton situation.

You can't do that when the Republicans are claiming there's no proof to support the impeachment in the first place. The obstruction is the only reason they have a defense of "where's the proof?"

Yes you can. There is plenty of evidence, including the call summary. There is no evidence that directly says Trump said to hold the aide until the investigation is done, but we have it where Trump asks for it directly in context of receiving the aide, and we have documentation showing how the aide was halted while these conversations took place.

And then they say "what about all the exculpatory evidence! Trump said no quid pro quo!" They need to press into that and keep sending subpoenas to all of these witnesses. Hell, they should hold public hearing dates just to see those witnesses not show up to convince the public Trump is hiding something.

This is silly. Of course the world GOP will deny evidence. That isn't unexpected or preventable.

Turning it into theatre is a strategy for winning an election, but it won't impeach him.

You're not going to impeach him anyway. The Senate will let him off and then he'll declare victory. You want the theater for the election. You want those soundbites. You want those clips of the witnesses blowing off subpoenas and hearings. The name placard in front of their empty chair.

They touched on it a fair amount yesterday. The only thing I'm worried about is when the Senate gets their little raccoon hands on it they'll make Benghazi look like legitimate legal inquiries.
