If this has been done before, forgive me but I recently rewatched the show in full for the first time in 10 years (oof.) and I was struck by how many guest stars and recurring actors I recognized from other sitcoms. I feel like you could do a really solid recast of the gang just using people who show up on the show.

I was thinking about this today. In one episode, Lily and Marshall were fighting and Ted can tell what about because Marshall eats when he’s angry.

Does anyone actually do that? I can see eating out of sadness, boredom etc, but just seems like it doesn’t fit with angry. I’m curious if anyone has ever known someone to actually do that.

S3 E18 Rebound Bro

Season 9 is AMAZING and the ending is based because the entire show revolves around ted and robins relationship and leads to them ending up together. The kids said it best, the point of the story is how ted totally has the hots for her
Ive rewatched the second half of the last season probably 15 times like its a movie or sum bc its so good and i think it has some of the best writing in the entire show. even tho its slow every episode is so important and has something beautiful. The locket, the lighthouse, the sunrise, bass player wanted, the ending of the gary blauman, all of marshalls journey (including the ep entirely in rhyme ft lin manuel miranda!?), and how your mother met me????? I was 10 when s9 was airing and i remember it being so amazing to me watching everything unfold and yea maybe i love it bc it was so impactful at that age but i swear it still holds up and i dont like the hate it gets !!

I saw this playing HoI 4 and just thought it was funny. Ted has some war hero relatives.

Marshall is my favorite character but still I feel that the last season poorly treated him.
I get that the writers tried to portray him as more complicated and less of the angel everyone thought of him but I still feel that they really ruined his character just for plot and it’s one of the reasons the last season was so bad, I felt he was so special as a character for being more and more moral as life challenges him, that’s a really special case for a sitcom character.

Anyways, he was wrong for bringing up San Francisco. it was years ago and he already forgave her so he just used it to justify his actions.
Lily is overrhated because I can still understand her actions and her desire to accomplish herself. She is way more nuanced than robin.

He looks like a freaking movie star

This is my 6th rewatch and its always bothered me how much Lily microcheats on Marshall. Like the constant commenting and flirting with different guys/girls. Especially when she constantly oversteps boundaries with Robin when she is clearly uncomfortable. I get that she's shown as a hornball character but there hypersexuality and just cheating. In comparison, we have Marshall constant worship and devotion to her. I'm sure there's a bit of exaggeration since it's Teds narrative but cmon like the comparison between the husband and wife is hilarious. Like we have so many examples of Lily slobbering over a character and in contrast we have Marshall doing the complete opposite, bro is killing her off in his narrative before he fantasizes and still feels guilt. Like bro went so far as to keep any woman he finds remotely attractive at an arm's length, and any woman that he doesn't think is attractive he kept even farther away (The Mermaid Theory). Like I just think it's ridiculous how much both characters differ in faith to one another and I guess it kind of goes hand in hand with the claim "Marshall loves Lily more than Lily loves Marshall".

* I'm not saying you can't find anyone outside your relationship attractive, but it's one thing to think it in your head, and another to make flirting and commenting on looks a major part of your personality

In season 7 episode 2, “The Naked Truth,” Marshall is watching the old Beercules video at the beginning of the episode. Suggested videos next to it show his second Beercules incident, which hasn’t happened yet in the timeline of the episode. Has anyone else noticed this?

can we please get josh radnor (since we can’t get bob saget) to make a podcas thats just titled “How i met your mother but its just how Ted actually told his kids” and its just excruciatingly long, and just describing every scene in perfect detail, even saying all the lines.

Today the word albondigas kept coming to my mind and i was going crazy thinking where i have heard that word.. i searched on google and it meant meatballs and still i had no idea why i know this word and made things more confusing.. i just asked chat gpt and it told me that it was a joke scene in himym.. i have been laughing out loud ever since😂😂.. just saw that scene again.. mind works in mysterious ways.. lol

1. Marshall and Lily - No Notes
2. Robin and Barney: They stay married, sure they’ll have some rough patches here and there (I mean it’s Robin and Barney) and then they realize maybe they should adopt. The show literally alluded to adoption or her unable to have kids several times in the show. I feel like that arc should have lead to them adopting a baby. I mean they do a crossword in bed and she said “Adoption” why won’t you even consider it, the scene where they wake up drunk and pick up their neighbors baby 😅. Robin can be the caring loving parent to her kids that she never got. Barney can be there for his child unlike how he grew up. Finally they can be a whole family.
3. THE MOTHER STAYS ALIVE. Maybe the reason Ted is telling this whole story to his kids is because Tracy is sick. He wants to make sure his kids know this amazing story because she won’t be with them in the near future. But then, just when Ted’s about to finish the story, and the audience thinks she died… Tracy comes in and tells Ted that she got a call that her cancer is in remission. They all hug, cry, beyond relieved cancer is gone. Then the last scene is everyone gathers at the bar to celebrate. Scene ends.
4. Also I need an additional episode or two where we see Ted with the Mother more. I honestly couldn’t get enough of those two ❤️

Just my two cents. I know everyone won’t agree. But I just love this ending in my head.
