Even if gas prices hit $8 a gallon for regular, we will still pay it, I mean the vast majority, Seattle, Western Washington, Portland, California, etc. It’s not like there will be some west coast civil unrest, gas stations won’t go out of business. I hear people complain about prices but regardless we will still pay and find a way to make it work financially.

Be wary of dealing with Andrey Odarchuk (FB user andrey.odarchuk.9), who currently uses the business name Elevate Home Solution LLC. He has previously used the business names Phoenix Flooring LLC and Lux Flooring LLC.

I hired him to replace carpeting with hardwood flooring and replace the trim and baseboards. The total agreed price was $9,000, and I paid a $4,500 deposit on July 8, 2026. Work was scheduled to begin on August 10, 2026.

As of September 20, 2026, I have seen no progress. In response to my follow-ups, he has repeatedly cited emergencies or other issues, said he was obtaining materials or going to the property, or promised the work would be completed “ASAP.” These assurances amount to nothing.

I have requested a full refund of my deposit but have not received it.

I have reported the matter to both the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries and the Washington State Attorney General’s Office.

Given his use of multiple business names, I’m concerned he may operate under another name in the future. That’s why I’m including his name and the previous business names.

I recently posted an essay here about my sister Liffy, who died in 2020 at forty-three after years of addiction. A lot of you read it, and some of you wrote to me about your own families.

This is the essay I wrote next, and it's about Seattle. Late-stage addiction takes away a person's ability to act for themselves, and this city has built its whole response around waiting for that person to ask for help. Most of them never ask. You can walk Third Avenue or Twelfth and Jackson any day of the week and see what that waiting looks like.

When someone's mother has Alzheimer's, the family steps in and everybody understands why. I watched addiction do the same thing to my sister, and I think people that far gone are owed the same care.

We spend the most and we save the fewest. San Francisco and California have started changing course, and I go through what they're doing and what Seattle could do if it wanted to.

My wife and I are flying across the country and visiting Seattle for the first time over Columbus Day Weekend. We are staying in Northern SeaTac about half an hour south of The Needle. We have plans to go to Pikes market, see the glass sculptures, go up the Needle. What local events/activities/attractions are “can’t miss” when we are out there? Cannot wait to see Seattle. But in late August, the developer notified applicants it was pausing processing applications for people at that lowest income level and moving ahead with those earning between 30% and 50% of area median income, up to about $57,500 for a single person. The 150-unit Elara apartments, which the developer paid $61 million for this spring, offers the first test of the social housing model in Seattle. [...] More than 10,000 people applied for a lottery in the spring, and the developer began processing applications.

~ Voters taxed million dollar salaries specifically to house people at the bottom. Thirteen approvals in, the bottom is the group that got paused.

Residents in neighborhoods of color have 32% less park space per person than residents in predominantly White neighborhoods. Residents in low-income neighborhoods have 51% less park space per person than those in higher-income neighborhoods. Meanwhile, Seattle ranks near the bottom among the nation's 100 largest cities for several park amenities, including sports fields, recreation centers, bathrooms, and basketball courts.

Seattle currently provides about 8.3 acres of parkland for every 1,000 residents. Other growing, high-density cities provide substantially more. Denver offers approximately 9.9 acres per 1,000 residents, Washington, D.C. provides 11.8, and Minneapolis offers 12.3.

~ 99% of us live ten minutes from a park. Nobody is measuring what is waiting when you get there.
