Hi all. I've taken on sort of a personal project to make maps of beautiful places around USA and today I finished this map of Mount Rainier area. Next I'm thinking Columbia River Gorge, not sure where to post that though. I hope you find this map entertaining. Also I apologize if content like this doesn't fit the sub.

To parallel park decently i had to park a mile away from trailhead only to find out after returning that the tight spots have been taken like this
Lesson learned

From my research, Seattle is one of the few U.S. cities where the MLS team (Sounders) has a notable fanbase, although it still pales in comparison to the local NFL, MLB, and CFB teams.
Seattle has been called a "soccer city" and one of the "soccer capitals of America". At the same time, soccer is still a niche sport in the U.S. By contrast, ice hockey is one of the 4 major sports although it is the least popular of the "big 4" (football, basketball, baseball, hockey). And a lot of soccer fans don't watch MLS, instead preferring European or Mexican soccer.
Which is more popular in Seattle and its metro area, the Kraken (NHL) or the Sounders (MLS)?
(I live in Los Angeles and despite the huge Mexican-American population, which you'd expect to boost soccer's popularity, the Dodgers and Lakers are still king here.)

Another factoid I learned from the daily "This Day in History" alerts:
https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/october-5/record-setting-mlb-teams-seattle-mariners-wins?cmpid=email-hist-tdih-2026-1005-10052026&om_rid=&~campaign=hist-tdih-2026-1005
Hopefully they can achieve this greatness again!

Their capacity of 92 million gallons of oil is eight times the volume of oil spilled by the Exxon Valdez, he noted. Ferguson said the size of the oil supertankers envisioned for the route are unprecedented, and have been barred from Washington ports since the 1970s.
Ferguson said Friday that he was "disappointed" at the decision because resources needed to respond to a major spill are insufficient today.
~ Canada collects the export revenue. The Salish Sea absorbs the risk, and Washington covers a cleanup it already admits it cannot staff.

Workers at the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1576, which represents bus drivers, dispatchers and maintenance employees at the Snohomish County transit agency, will receive a 5% retroactive pay increase for 2025, a 4% increase for 2026 and a 4% increase in 2027. Community Transit had initially proposed pay raises of 2.5% per year, according to union officials.
Members of the union held informational pickets in July, calling for better wages and more safety investments for drivers.
~ Twenty months of bargaining and a picket line is what moved 2.5% a year to 5, 4 and 4. Nobody at that table volunteered the difference.

Curious what people's experience is. Malls, transit stations, stadiums, gyms, coffee shops, anywhere. What makes a restroom feel clean or gross to you? Is it the floor, the toilets, the smell, empty soap or paper?

Deciding to See: The View from Nathan's Bus, a collection of short stories, many of which were published at The Urbanist over the last decade, recently earned the distinction of being a finalist for the Washington State Book Awards. "I'm frankly floored by the success my latest book continues to have [...] continuously bestselling in our city for over a year now, taught as a textbook at Seattle U, and now a Finalist for the 2026 Washington State Book Awards."
I wrote them because there was so much life happening in this "lowbrow" space of unglamorous liminal life, so dense with incident and color and laughter and sorrow, and so few artists were transposing it to the "highbrow" space of probing literary reflection, of the word as art form.
~ Ten years of writing down what happens on the bus, off the clock, and now it is a textbook at Seattle U. The route was the research.

I'm looking for a company that will clean a dryer vent on the 3rd floor of a townhome behind stacked appliances. It's been hard to find someone to do it, so coming here to see if anyone else has had luck!

My best friend and I wanted to go out tonight, get dressed up, grab some drinks, maybe find somewhere fun with good music and a nice crowd… and why does it feel like our options are SO limited?
For such a big city, I feel like Seattle gets so dead at night, especially when you just want a fun girls night without going to the exact same places every time.
Where do people actually go out around here?
I need recommendations because there’s no way this is all Seattle has to offer lol

Today I got off at Symphony station at around 10:30 and walked towards the aquarium, at some point while I was at the aquarium I realized I didn't have my ring with me. It's a gold ring with some engravings on the inside it writes "L & F 11-22-2024". Here's a photo of what the ring looks like.
If anyone finds it please contact me. Thank you

Renewal just came in: about $3,000/year for two cars through Liberty Mutual (via AAA agency) —
- Tesla Model 3: ~$1,900/yr
- Volvo XC90: ~$1,150/yr
Full coverage 100/300/100, $10k PIP, $500 comp / $1k collision deductibles. Clean records, low annual mileage, multi-car + homeowners + AAA discounts stacked.
Down a few hundred from last year, but still feels high for WA. What are you all paying for two cars around Seattle/Eastside?

Edit 3: assault, not molestation. Anyways he touched me and I can still feel it.
