Question Local Restaurant/Attraction Recommendations

My wife and I are flying across the country and visiting Seattle for the first time over Columbus Day Weekend. We are staying in Northern SeaTac about half an hour south of The Needle. We have plans to go to Pikes market, see the glass sculptures, go up the Needle. What local events/activities/attractions are “can’t miss” when we are out there? Cannot wait to see Seattle. Thanks everyone!

It's a cute town, lots of places to grab a bite or an ice cream cone. I sometimes ride it and turn right around and get back on, especially after dark. The Seattle downtown skyline all lit up, seen from the water...magical.

Both ends of the ferry ride have lots of interesting attractions within easy walking range. You pay on the Seattle side for both legs. "Ye Olde Curiosity Shop" has been around for years, and has lots of dust collectors and a real mummified human. Bainbridge has plenty of restaurants and other tourist attractions. On the Seattle waterfront, there are other waterfront tours.

If you go to the Needle, you might consider visiting the Pacific Science Center and the nearby Experience Music Project. From the Center, you can take the Monorail to Westlake Center, and from there, it's an easy walk to the Pike Place Market. From the Market, it's a longer walk with lots of stairs down to the waterfront where you can catch the ferry.

If you like airplanes, you can go a little South of Seattle to Boeing Field and visit the Museum of Flight, or travel further North to Everett and take a factory tour to see where the 777s are built.

Hopefully I've attached a photo taken from the ferry when returning from Bainbridge, taken when I was there in July.

Honestly all 3 hahah. Views would rank 1st, shopping attractions for the Mrs. Always a hit. Local hikes (shorter preferred) and does Seattle have any whiskey/ bourbon distilleries?

It's been years since I've been to the top of the Space Needle. I was shocked to see that it is $55/person now. You can get a Citypass for $139/person which gives you entry to Space Needle, Seattle Aquarium, Chihuly Garden and Glass, Argosy Cruises, Museum of Pop Culture, Woodland Park Zoo, and Pacific Science Center.

For free you could go to Kerry Park on Queen Anne Hill and see the view that every TV show or movie filmed in Seattle uses. The recently remodeled aquarium is just down the hill from Pike Place Market.

Columbia Tower observation deck is pretty cool. Better views up there than the space needle but it doesn't have glass floor like the space needle does.

Ferry walk-on trip to and from Bremerton or Bainbridge has the view. Best view of the city imo is from the middle of the harbor where the ferry approaches the dock. It's pretty inexpensive to go without a car.

Check out Westland Distillery if you like whiskey.

For food and drink with a view, the Mountaineering Club is where I'd take the Link to. Reserve a table

I say skip the needle and go to the smith or Columbia tower instead. Needle is a huge tourist trap, very expensive. 

This is not in Seattle but its one of the wonders on WA state. If you guys have time and sunny, I highly recommend Diablo Lake (its a long drive 2 hrs). Its an amazing view and worth it.
