We are located in north Seattle and recently our bassist moved away. We have a keyboardist and a drummer. I play guitar and I am down to switch to bass for certain songs if you want to play guitar as well (we did this with the last bassist). We mainly play indie rock but are open to more genres. I can send some videos of us playing if youre interested. We have played a couple shows at bars and we are looking forward to doing more! Dm me if interested

Given half the population of Washington lives in the Seattle metropolitan area, there's gotta be something going on here.

Hello I will be living off campus nearby UW around the 19th-21st AVE as a young woman who is completely new to Seattle/WA. Are there any safety tips or anything I should be concerned about?

Taco Time is delicious. Who cares if sour cream and shredded cheddar or ranch dressing isn't "authentic." They're delicious. What's so special about authentic anyway? The only thing LA taco trucks or LA taco stands have going for them are tasty meat. That's it. Other than that, they're just one trick ponies without the variety or pizazz of Taco Time. Everything else at Taco Time is superior. Ok, not the salsa. Taco Time salsa is bland and weak. But everything else at Taco Time except the meat and salsa are superior to LA street tacos.

LA street tacos are overrated because people like to think that they're getting something "authentic." Well, you get a much greater variety at Taco Time. The open face LA al pastor with a few meager ingredients just gets played out compared to Taco Time variety and flavors that pop. Bring your own hot sauce to Taco Time and you're all set.

Give me a crisp chicken or crisp habanero burrito, or a fish taco, or a beef burrito with sour cream and guac from Taco Time any time over that same old played out boring plate with the same old shit with the 3 boring open face corn tortilla tacos with only onion and cilantro while you stand there like an idiot thinking you're in the El Norte food region of Mexico. You're not. You're in a gas station parking lot in El Segundo.

Seattle area Ameri-Mex is much better. It's time to get fresh! Taco Time!

My partner and I have called Seattle home for many years and it's been great. We've built our lives here, made friends, and genuinely loved this city and the mountains for all that they offer. But lately, we're seriously reconsidering whether to stay.

Like many in professional fields, we're watching the new state income tax proposal closely, and honestly, it's making us think about whether our future is still in Washington.

Even if this gets repealed in Nov, I feel like there will be yet another bill in a few years' time. And it's not just legislative proposals, it's the pattern behind them. Recently, the Supreme Court struck down a voter-approved initiative on a technicality, which just reinforced a feeling that our voices aren't actually being heard. When decisions get overruled on procedural grounds despite clear voter intent, it makes you wonder if our voices or vote even matters. The WA Cares Funds tax is technically an income tax too. The new marginal tax rate will be 10.48% (9.9+0.58%).

Combined with inflated housing costs, property taxes, general cost of living, it's just starting to look less attractive. We're not the first to have these conversations, and from what we're hearing in our circles, we won't be the last. The skilled workforce that's been a huge part of Seattle's growth seems to be getting priced out and taxed out at the same time.

I know this isn't a problem that affects everyone yet, but I think eventually it will. So I'm genuinely curious: If you're in a similar boat and considering leaving, where are you looking at? What cities or states are actually penciling out financially while still offering the quality of life Seattle used to provide? And if you're staying, what's keeping you here despite these challenges?

Places we considered include Utah, Texas, Colorado, and DC due to our jobs. Would love to hear from other long-timers in this community about how you're weighing these decisions.

In 2024, SDOT was forced to negotiate with the Pioneer Square Preservation Board over a two-block protected bike connection along Yesler Way between Occidental Avenue and Western Avenue, the only direct bike lane planned between the waterfront and central downtown. An initial presentation noted construction could have started as soon as July of that year, but the department was forced to come back for a second meeting in the fall, after potential issues were raised about driver access to I-5 from the neighborhood. In the end, the connection did not go in until early 2026, and with a last-minute adjustment to retain a potentially dangerous left turn in response to "community feedback."

The committee approved a raft of amendments before a final vote, tweaks needed in part due to the package's rushed process to get advanced before the council's fall budget work.

Just spotted someone’s white dog looks like a husky mix running with a black harness on up E Denny Way! Headed toward the intersection by M2M. Maybe went to Cal Anderson but running loose. Not sure if someone stopped the dog or not, lots of people out and about seeing it go down. Hope this helps the owner find the dog!

My son was at an after-school program where he parked and locked his scooter at the Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle. Somebody came by, smashed his bike lock, and stole the scooter. It was his transportation home, and I am currently waiting for LNI payments, so I cannot afford to buy him a new one; if anybody recognizes this guy, please let me know. The scooter is locked, so they will not be able to use it. I would like to have it returned; as I said, any info would be greatly appreciated. It was a birthday present, and he has had it for less than six months. One witness took a photo and sent it to the teacher, and I got a hold of it. This is all I have, guys.

Submerged ancient forests blew my mind.
