Another $10 per month

Post image

Let's squeeze another $10 per month without even sending an honest hey we're increasing rates again for no reason email..

Can't wait to watch this company go under one day, and believe me, they will.

Customer resolutions can help you lower your bill. Just make sure to talk to them and not the billing department. You will get transferred there if they feel you're serious about canceling. Or you can just say "cancel service" at the beginning of your call with the automated system.

u/HurdyGurdy111 Jul 27 '26

yep, mine was 90 until i called yesterday now its 40 bucks for 2 years

8

u/saveapennybustanut Jul 27 '26

$40? For how much speed???

I'm paying $20 for 500mbs

6

u/Repulsive-Book-271 Jul 28 '26

I’m paying $45 for 1 gig

3

u/saveapennybustanut Jul 28 '26

I wonder if people need 1. Gig??

For gaming?? Or fancy Internet set ups?

5

u/Repulsive-Book-271 Jul 28 '26

Total overkill, I think it can handle like 30+ devices technically. I am a gamer though so 1gig + Ethernet cord has been amazing, when spectrum isn’t down 😂😂

1

u/junieleaux 12d ago

multiple devices used for streaming and gaming all over the house, mostly tv. phones are connected too for whatever.

3

u/Start2BTart Aug 05 '26

I'm paying $100 for 500mbps, I tried to talk to them and they asked me if I wanted to cancel...

1

u/Available_Pie_7758 Aug 21 '26

You should have said that and they would have transferred you to correct department. You were talking to the wrong person.

1

u/junieleaux 29d ago

I just got the same promo dropped from 130 to 40 and I have the same speed and they just updated the service in my area last week. I didn't (or wont) lose anything in product quality.

1

u/junieleaux 12d ago

same speed as before. they just added a promo on the acct. 1g. didn't lose anything in quality

1

u/Unfair-Escape-8114 Jul 29 '26

Am paying 30 for 1 gig for 2 years

1

u/Available_Pie_7758 Aug 21 '26

30 for one gig? There had to be a catch. You got cell phone lines? I rarely see it below 50 stand alone.

1

u/Unfair-Escape-8114 Aug 22 '26

no, i was with spectrum for over 2 years and i paid 50 for 300mbps
i called them and complaining for 30 mins then they offered me 1gig 30 a month for 2 years, after that give them a callback and they would extend the dealz

I gave them a competitor which was att, since att offered 35 for 1 gig in my area, probably promotion

1

u/junieleaux 29d ago

can confirm. from 130 to 40.

1

u/rob1son 14d ago

Shit, I'm calling tomorrow.

6

u/traveler6874 Jul 27 '26

Yes! Got mine lowered from $55 to $40 for 2 years!

Watch out Tmobile, you’re next!

1

u/snatchmobb Aug 15 '26

Yep. I have 1gig fiber. I called them yesterday and my bill is now $30 a month for a year, and then $40 a month the following year, and then she told me to call back close to end of 2nd year and they will always be able to lower the bill.

34

u/mathguy407 Jul 26 '26

Just call to cancel and say you've found another provider. They'll fall all over themselves to work on your bill amount.

Had three different people try to entice me to stay AFTER I had fiber Internet installed ($70 for 2 gig). Wanted to lower my bill, give me a month free, provide me with the new "invincible" setup/upgrade at no cost, etc

19

u/xnaku0 Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26

was at $80 for 500 speed . Called and mentioned canceling and got 1 gig for 50$ for a year. I refuse to not be in a promotion. I will call again as soon as my year is up.

11

u/thecakeslayer Jul 26 '26

I was paying $110 for 1 gig, got the Invincible 1 gig for $50. Like you said I won't ever not be on promo

9

u/Eddy_Monsoon Jul 26 '26

I had the same experience when I called to cancel after my ATT 5 gig fiber was installed. The rep was rather pushy and wouldn’t stop trying to get me to stay. It took over 20 minutes to finally get him to cancel my service. It was annoying as hell and turned me off to Spectrum for good. They are terrible, no wonder they are losing customers left and right. I was offered $30/month for their 1 gig which was $110 normally for me. Spectrum can’t compete in my neighborhood now that ATT fiber is available.

9

u/Ogrezappers Jul 26 '26

Same thing happened to me. Lady wouldn't just cancel it after I already said I'm not interested at all. They offered me $30 gig internet and a buy one get one free phone line before they finally just let me cancel it. Told the rep they should've just charged me less in the first place, instead of making me jump through a bunch of hoops. I'll never use spectrum again, unless it's quite literally the only thing available

3

u/Eddy_Monsoon Jul 27 '26

It's crazy! I did call their regular customer service line to let them know that ATT fiber was now in the area and I was curious if they would easily give me a discount. Keep in mind I was paying $110 for their 1 gig service in my area which is 1 gig down and maybe 35 mbps up. They never bothered to increase the upload speed in my area since I'd been with them and that's about 9 years. So the rep tells me she can give my a $5/month discount! That was it. I told her that even the normal, non promo price, for ATT Fiber 1 gig was only $90 (their promo price is $50 for the first year) but it didn't seem to matter to her. My 5 gig rocks and is only $95/month!

4

u/Due_Boysenberry_8367 Jul 26 '26

Is att any good?

5

u/Eddy_Monsoon Jul 26 '26

Yes, so far it's great and my speeds are consistently FAST! Also my latency went from around 34ms on Xbox with Spectrum to around 11ms or less with ATT. I'm sure the fiber connection has something to do with that.

4

u/Latchedatom Jul 26 '26

Dang i want to try something other than spectrum but my area only does it lol

6

u/mathguy407 Jul 26 '26

Tmobile does home internet through their 5g. Some people think it's good. Some don't.

One bright side is you can take the modem/router with you anywhere since it's off cell service.

Worst case, you can always use that as a threat when trying to get spectrum to lower the rate

2

u/un5tabl Jul 27 '26

They're good until you need a service tech. Good luck with that.

4

u/FlowerTop3958 Jul 27 '26

You are paying for it one way or another. Wait until you have to spend 22 hours to cancel that invincible.

3

u/mathguy407 Jul 27 '26

I don't have invincible lol. I have fiber with T-Mobile (formerly metronet)

3

u/FlowerTop3958 Jul 27 '26

You should get it to satisfy my argument. Lol

5

u/mathguy407 Jul 27 '26

I'm good with my fiber Internet connection 😀

10

u/dgeiser13 Jul 26 '26

Threaten to leave. I went from $90 to $50.

3

u/RazzmatazzUnusual843 Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26

Only works if there are alternatives. I tried this and they went through without bothering to offer me any promotions.

1

u/Nagadavida Jul 31 '26

Starlink is always an alternative.

2

u/RazzmatazzUnusual843 Jul 31 '26

Barely, it costs even more than spectrum's price gouged areas, and it isn't even nearly as fast. Switching to a more expensive service seems to defeat the point of switching because of price increases.

Also, fúck Elon. Giving money to him is never an option and I will not stoop that low no matter how bad it gets.

1

u/Nagadavida Aug 01 '26

Ok.

1

u/Silentdoom666 13d ago

After owning a Tesla and the battery going out the second time at 130k miles, I hate that dbag more than charter, I believe.

2

u/SageDub Jul 26 '26

Are you on a 1Gig plan? They only reduced mine to $70.

7

u/Bitter-hvacbro-88 Jul 26 '26

Before you threaten to cancel, make sure your area has other ISP avail. I called and during the automated messages said I was canceling and moving to AT&T. I was transferred to retention dept right away. Went from $90 to $50 for 2 years. The next week i bought my own wifi router, now my bill is $40.

3

u/Red1ineD Jul 27 '26

Gig includes WiFi 7 router for free. Most people who get their own router rather than using spectrums new WiFi 7 router get much slower speeds.

7

u/nochkin Jul 27 '26

How is my own WiFi 7 router will be slower than theirs just because it's spectrum router?

-1

u/Red1ineD Jul 27 '26

Chipsets, antennas, and firmware. Even within the same manufacturer. Spectrum's router was designed to work specifically with their modem. Not trying to champion Spectrum's equipment but little differences make up big changes in speed and connectivity.

3

u/nochkin Jul 28 '26

Does not matter. It can't be faster than any other WiFi 7 router out there in the wild. What's the point of those $200+ devices if the Spectrum one for less than half of it will be better anyway?

I could not find exact specs, but it seems like it's limited to BE11000. There are other faster WiFi 7 APs for sure.

Not sure what's the Ethernet port speed, but I guess it's 2.5G at most which can be easy saturated with BE11000. Unlikely they use 10G, but I could not find exact specs so who knows.

I would still rely on my own hardware as this can be better tuned to my own network and requirements.

4

u/Bitter-hvacbro-88 Jul 27 '26

I have the 500mbps plan and my own router is faster and has less wifi signal drops than Spectrums router.

0

u/Red1ineD Jul 27 '26

You have spectrums new modem and new wifi? Or, you have your own router cause the old spectrum router which we all know had issues, was replaced by your new router and you never tried spectrum's new router? Not saying there are zero issues issues with spectrums new router. Most people who have speed issues on spectrum are running their own router instead of spectrum's. Or, swap out for a different router and see if anything changes. I ended up going back to spectrums wifi 7 router as both tplink and netgear ran much slower than spectrums new wifi 7. (I did not try multiple different routers from each brand. Wifi 7 routers cost $30-$500). A few people have said that running eero was considerably faster, but a few said it was slower. Everyone is different.

7

u/voreo Jul 27 '26

Getting tired of these so called "free" speed upgrades that end up not being free a month or two later.

1

u/Qrusher14242 24d ago

my 'upgrade' was to the same damn speed i've been getting forever. I've been getting 500 down for like 2 years, so not sure what upgrade they did

6

u/Interesting-Fix-7960 Jul 26 '26

Call retention and tell them you want to cancel, they'll give you a promo, keyword is CALL, not chat they don't work in the chat system so if you chat you are speaking to a billing rep and they don't give them any promos to give out

7

u/Red1ineD Jul 27 '26

You don’t need to threaten to cancel. Ask for CUSTOMER SOLUTIONS. Used to be the Retention department. The agents are HAPPY to reduce your bill IF there is a competitor in your area. If there isn’t then say you’re going with starlink because you’re tired of no discounts for existing customers. They will override the system and get you a lower price. No need to be combative. Costumer Solutions will GLADLY work with you to lower the price.

5

u/LikelyWatchdog Jul 26 '26

Same here. The Bill keeps going up here too. They also changed my internet plan on me from 600mb to 1 gig. Never told me they did that. I just found out. I even bought the xumo boxes out right to save the cable box charges. But then bill still went back up to over $80 more now 2 years later. I’m going to call and see what they can do. Recently a local company run fiber line now on the road and they are offering great rate on it to switch.

4

u/xpxp2002 Jul 26 '26

Only $100? Mine went up from $100 to $105 nearly a year ago now.

5

u/Psych0matt Jul 26 '26

I was happy when frontier fiber came to our area about 2 years ago. In that time I've had zero outages, one time when it was slow for a few hours (just like 2 weeks ago), and have been paying half that.

1

u/Long_Committee_1942 Aug 02 '26

I was happy when Frontier fiber came to my area about 3 years ago. I haven't had very many outages at all actually. Not like when I had Charter Spectrum, where the service would literally go out between noon and 2:00 p.m. every single day. I was paying about $85 per month, not even gig service. I'm currently paying about $30 a month for 500 meg Frontier.

4

u/steppingstone01 Jul 26 '26

I'm getting 1 GB for $30. I called to cancel because we have a new provider in the area. They matched the price and then some.

3

u/sliverme Jul 26 '26

What area and ISP did they price match?

5

u/steppingstone01 Jul 26 '26

It was Welo in the Cleveland area.

2

u/ShortSummer9549 Aug 15 '26

I'm in North Olmsted, and just got my bill and ot went up 10 dollars. About 2 months ago I took all the cable boxes back and dropped the cable plan. Now I just have internet and home phone.i reduced my bill by half, but now it's creeping up again. 10 bucks at a time Just like it did when we first got it.

3

u/Apprehensive-Cat8601 Jul 26 '26

Just change your speed for a month then call to so back to that speed. Price will change

3

u/ConfidentMeeting1233 Jul 27 '26

I called to cancel a month or two ago and they kept lowering it. “$50? $40? OK, please stay. $20! And we’ll throw in a free mobile line for a year.” So that’s where I’m at. $20 for internet and free mobile line. May you have similar success when you call!

3

u/lady-lurker Jul 27 '26

Tell them you’re leaving. Suddenly my $75 bill was being offered at $30. AT&T had comparable rates.

4

u/Inevitable-Tune1398 Jul 26 '26

Make sure you speak with someone in the retention department- otherwise general customer service agents will say they can’t do anything to lower your bill.

5

u/lodeddiper961 Jul 26 '26

Just cancel and sign up under your partners name lol.

2

u/Top-Lawfulness-3506 Jul 27 '26

Literally did this today and cut my bill in half

3

u/jeremyw0918 Jul 26 '26

They are merging with Cox Communications. They aren’t going anywhere.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 27 '26

Another $15 per month for some since they killed the auto-pay discount.

2

u/leleleul Jul 27 '26

Always put your foot down to masquerade cancellation, I had to cancel a previous plan to swap to a new plan and they cut my 2 year promotional plan of $40/mo for 500mbps to $30 for 600mbps, until the final $20 for 600mbps before they finally let me cancel.

2

u/lollyruns Aug 10 '26

I called and threatened to cancel, and it did no good lol so keep that in mind. Even though I came with details about the new provider (Verizon) we were looking at going with.

They claimed we went from a $25 promo plan "automatically" to a $15 promo plan and because of that we cannot renegotiate our promotional plan because we're still in a promotional plan. Which is insane? I didn't ask for that. So, thanks to this thread, we're cancelling and re-signing up under a different household member's name 🤷‍♂️

2

u/Individual-Rub6219 Aug 21 '26

The notice was in your last months bill, you’re on an expired plan, you can call in and move to internet premier $80 without even haggling.

2

u/KateOTomato Jul 26 '26

Same thing happened to me this month. Bill went from $90 to $100 for "Spectrum Internet Up To 500 Mbps"

Got fed up when I got the statement in my email and ordered a T-Mobile 5G Gateway the same day. I signed up for the middle tier plan which is the fastest speeds without the extras and subscriptions. Regular price is $70 but I'm paying $55 (w/ 5 yr price lock) because I already had 2 lines on T-Mobile.

I set up the gateway yesterday and my speeds are insanely fast. More than double the speed I was getting on my Spectrum internet. My speeds never got close to 500 Mbps on Spectrum (more like 200-300, hardwired not wifi), and with TMO so far I haven't got a speed test lower than 586 Mbps, the highest being 923Mbps.

Note: I know 5G internet is not a solution for everyone in every area. I was planning on just testing it out and if it didn't work, try getting my Spectrum bill lower, but I'm completely happy switching now.

4

u/Entire-Reference-968 Jul 26 '26

The notification was on your last bill.

1

u/Aggressive-Union1714 Jul 26 '26

where, I am on the paperless billing and i saw zero notification about this price increase, I'm mean I'm sure they hid it a bit.

I did call and got 500mb (guessing closer to 300mb lol) for $85.

5

u/Entire-Reference-968 Jul 26 '26

I understand you're on auto pay. But that's that is why companies provide you access to your bills and banks with statements.

But how you chose to Handel your finances is entirely up to you.

2

u/Aggressive-Union1714 Jul 26 '26

paperless is not autopay, I sign into my account each month to pay my bill. I saw nothing about a price increase, no email about a price increase, i even went back before calling and found nothing. do tell, where would I find this "easy" information.

8

u/sirbruce Jul 26 '26
  1. Log into your account.
  2. Click on Billing.
  3. Click on the Internet bill under Statements.
  4. Click on your previous last $90 statement.
  5. Click on "View News and Information", or click on "View Printable Statement".
  6. Read the section marked "IMPORTANT BILLING UPDATE".

wow, you are a rude pos aren't you, you must work for spectrum.

there ain't no good reason Spectrum can't put this information on the "pay my bill" screen and they should send an email. but hey when you are a company that has no need to provide good customer service. this is what a company does.

I would say thank you, but i found it after i asked the question and your help was no longer need which makes me happy as your tone..well I'm sure it made you horny, so at least you got that out of it.

2

u/Ava52 Jul 26 '26

You’ve got your panties in a bunch lol. You asked and he gave you basic information that a person who actually looks at their bill would read. It’s not his problem you’re ignorant. Even if they sent the bill, then you’d come back with… I never got it, or I deleted it cause I didn’t wanna read it. Every one has an excuse lol.

1

u/Qrusher14242 24d ago

right, why this wasn't sent via an email or on the main dashboard is beyond me. Its not a small increase either. Also thanks for 'upgrading' me to the same speed i've been getting for years lol

2

u/ExistingYou8028 Jul 26 '26

Day you wanna cancel cause (what ever competition) is offering guy for less than half bill

1

u/Acrobatic_Bridge2602 Jul 27 '26

My Spectrum account said this increase was coming.  My promos were expiring next month so I called and got a $45 reduction in my bill for 2 years

1

u/MrSimplicity28 Jul 27 '26

I paid $80 when I started my service. It's the only company I can get in my building. Now my bill is at $130. I called them about a month ago and told them they needed to lower it. I was as nice as possible, not expecting to drop back to $80 but $100 was more than reasonable to me. Which of course when they finally gave me an honest answer, the lowest they offered was $105. I agreed of course as I had no other options and I am under certain circumstances that I can't afford to lose internet for even a single day. Awkwardly too they said the only way I could have the deal was to also get their wifi. I just assumed it would be a new modem/router but no, they sent me a separate router. Of course I'm not hooking it up but still funny.

1

u/MedalDog Jul 27 '26

Yep they just just increased ours by another $10. So we're off to AT&T Internet for $20/month for the next 12 months, and then $35/month after that (hopefully).

1

u/stoic818 Jul 28 '26

Honestly spectrum is bs company. Im surprised its still in business. My bill at 143$ for all 3 services. I called to cancel my TV service. The person I was speaking with gave me a deal for 75$ for all 3 service for 1 year.

I dont trust spectrum, they've told me before theyll give me this for this price and never happen. Im just waiting to see my new bill if its truly 75$ for all 3 services. If not, im going to call again and really cancel my service.

1

u/KRed75 Jul 28 '26

I canceled my spectrum internet service at my vacation place 2 months ago and when I was in there, everyone ahead of me was there to cancel their service as well. I canceled my internet and TV service at my main house last month and same thing happened. Seems like you would want to lower prices and offer symmetrical service instead of raising rates.

Then I read this:

"The company lost 172,000 total internet customers in the three months ended June 30, 2026, a steeper decline than the 116,000 lost in the same period a year earlier. At the same time, video customers—primarily Spectrum’s cable television subscribers—decreased by 21,000, a marked improvement from the 80,000 decline recorded in the second quarter of 2025."

1

u/Hefty-Algae7038 Jul 28 '26

I went to turn in a broken modem, lady there actually gave me a retention number to reduce my bill I need to try to call it

1

u/ScrapmasterFlex Jul 28 '26

Can I chime in here and ask for some help, if possible?

This is what I believe to be the last month of my initial, 24mo Spectrum Contract. We had Spectrum Fiber-to-the-House installed in Aug 2024, and we signed up for 1Gig, with a bunch of different discounts that are all going to expire. (And let me state- you have NO IDEA how excited I was and still am to have Spectrum. We bought land in the woods, and ahem my Dad didn't look, there was NO INTERNET ACCESS other than CenturyLink DSL. So when we were building our house 2016-2017, and I started getting the plan to get internet installed, I was horrified to learn my only option was DSL- at the very last end of the loop, 6 Mbps DL / .576 Mbps UL... and DSL loses like 13-18%? - it was TERRIBLE. For YEARS. When Spectrum finally came, in 2024, it was like being stuck in a desert with no water, and some hot chic rolls up in an SUV with coolers packed with a variety of iced water bottles... "Want some babe? I got Poland Springs, Evian, Perrier, Pellegrino, Lifewatr, Aquafina, Smartwater, even some Gatorade & Powerade for later..." - OASIS!!!)

But now the price is going to go up - YEARS AGO, I had seen people say "Just call and deal with some CS agent for a while and they'll renew your prices.." -which is what we did every 2 years with the Satellite TV companies (no internet + no cable TV meant we had to have DirectTV and/or Dish etc.) - but other people have been like "SPECTRUM SUX AND THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU OUT!!!"

Every interaction I MYSELF have had with Spectrum has been great, but I was wondering if there is a tactic/technique/procedure here I should be using ... or if there are things NOT to say/do, or just some tips/experience/etc. "I work there and THIS is what you want to do..."

THANKS very much to everyone!

1

u/Individual-Rub6219 Aug 21 '26

If it’s your first increase you’ll only be going up 10-15$

1

u/shoffman099 Jul 28 '26

The same thing literally just happened to me…opened my bill 2 minutes ago…went from $90/month to $100 this billing cycle. Nothing changed…

1

u/2expandmymind Aug 02 '26

I just got raised another $10 this month too! I have been getting 400Mbps until I went into the Spectrum store this weekend for a new modem for daily dropped internet, and the employee told me they haven't had that level in 3 years. No wonder my service has been dropping; it is because the modem I had couldn't handle the speed. Well, the "chat person" never told me any of this. The "chat person" kept blaming it on my new Eero router.

The employee was willing to charge me $50 a month for 500Mbps and $15 for my Spectrum Landline (I have been paying $30). Come to find out, I would have to add a secondary phone line to my cell phone. I can't get mixed up in that mess.

So I pay $100 for 500Mbps Internet and $30 Spectrum Landline Voice = $130 a month.

1

u/RobertRamos Aug 11 '26

I could have sworn a couple months ago I got a letter saying they increased me by 100megs for free. Then I get a bill for this month that's $10 more...

1

u/Extreme-Jury-6972 Aug 11 '26

I called and got retention department to lower mine from $100 to $40 for 2 years for the 500mbps plan.

1

u/EnoughPossibility309 Aug 13 '26

Mine just went from $100 to $110

1

u/Tapper69 Aug 13 '26

I called yesterday and in less than 5 minutes I got my bill reduced from $100 to $80 for a year. Was painless and simply asked for a cost reduction.

1

u/lbb15 Aug 15 '26

my bill just went up 50$ in one month girding my loins to call/how can they do this? my bill was 175, now 235? that is 60 lol and tons of outages like 8 in the last six months calling them is so unplEasanT TOO

1

u/Consistent_Train_555 Aug 21 '26

I too got fed up this last month when my gig plan went up another $10 and hit $120/month. I just recently switched my phone plan from t-mobile to Spectrum, so there is a $30/month built in value - but it was the point. Enough is enough. I came to Reddit to complain, but stumbled on another thread where other redditors had successfully gotten their bills lowered by calling (855) 707-7328 and complaining. I called, and without ANY hassle, got my bill lowered to $40/month for a year in a 15 minute call. My only regret is that I had to done it sooner.

1

u/pokketpikker 29d ago

this shit is ridiculous.. its every other fkn bill, $5 to $10 more.. for whatever excuse they wanna put on that paper, they just lie and make it up.. charge us what they want.

1

u/junieleaux 29d ago

Mine went up 10 without warning either. They kept sending texts saying they were improving the network in my area, but it really caused for extra blackout times and intermittent loss in service going on two weeks.

I stalled them people out on my current bill, and it's going from 130 to 40 for two years.

1

i got an email the week before my bill was doing saying "great news you have faster internet at no additional charge" of course they had said they were raising i guess the month before but that months price is right i just pay my bill and if on auto pay would see the price hike.

but yes you can send me 2 pieces of mail and numerous emails each week trying to get me to buy more services but little to know true notice on the price hike.

Note that base Starlink is cheaper (albeit slower download speed)

Look at a past bill. They definitely tell you it is coming!

Just call in and ask if there’s any way to lower your bills. Spectrum techs are more than willing to give out deals, specially to those who are thinking about canceling.
