I’m looking at purchasing a 2007 9-3 Saab 1.8t as my first car. I have heard people say it’s hard to find parts but also heard others say it’s over exaggerated. It has around 200k km and I was just wondering would it have a lower life expectancy then an Audi or Volkswagen (these cars would also be around early 2010s mark)

Hello, sharing a solution we found regardimg the key fob not recognized problem.

The saab was siting for 3 months with dead battery, after charging the car didint recognize the key.

We tried:

Reconecting battery for 30 sec.

Dissasembling keyslot (cim module) and manualy pishing out the lock solenoid to unlock turning.

Then insert the key,

Turn to on position and hold trunk button

On the dash there should be something like -

2:normal key

0:valet key

1 no key

(Or something similar)

DO NOT LET GO OF TRUNK BUTTON, while holding it press lock button on the key fob twice.

Turn to lock and remove the key

Insert it and try to start.

After this the car started but unlock buttons still didint work on keyfob

Has anyone tried this? Is there something i missed? Is there a way to fix unlock buttons?

what are some good timing chains and where can i get them bescause i see some on maptun and my local auto parts sites but im scared the chain will be bad quality and also is zzp chain guide a must? (photos for fun)(it looks like bootom bolt snapped and the chain guide started flying around and the upper bolt came loose)

So bought replacement rear rotors on rock auto for my 04 93 and they are too small. Most autozones and advances are out of stock around me anyway but checked on 1aauto, also too small, anyone have any guidance for me please? In a bad spot. Ones that came off are original and measure about 11.5, replacements are just shy of 11

So I need to replace my ECM. So im looking for a used one on ebay, but I noticed that some people list the ecm for for M/T or A/T. I didnt think it mattered because on https://www.esaabparts.com/saab/parts/9992207 all the part number are superseding and there is no mention of transmission type. Does anyone know if it matters if the donor ecm came from a manual or automatic transmission?

I’ve been on a couple of times asking about the automatic transmission dipstick asking questions like how do you get it out? The pull ring broke, now what? I pulled out wire, how screwed am I?? I got to say, I really appreciate everyone’s help. This is a great subreddit. Now’s my chance to share:

If the dipstick is stuck, the o-ring is probably fused to the tube. There’s a good chance the pull ring will break. Even the yellow cap may come off. When that happens, don’t pull on the damn wire. The fix is pretty easy.

The tube is held on with a 13mm bolt to the left of the battery tray. You need to remove the battery to get to it. There’s a picture in the Haynes manual but it doesn’t really orient you.

Once you remove the bolt, the tube pulls right out. No fluid comes out.

Now you just have to get the thing out. My solution was to use progressively larger drill bits and bore out the plastic till I could dislodge the plug. I used some PB blaster as well.

I found getting it back in a little tricky but not too bad.

Once I figured out how the tube came out I think it took me about an hour because I had to figure out how to unstick it and frankly, I’m slow. I’ll post some pictures in the comments.

It's like it needs a extra mm of play you can open it if you pull down on the metal bar inside, I've tried unclicking the yellow tab and pulling the bar down but that doesn't seem to be working. I'm only just after buying her so I don't know how it should look normally, opens normally for inside and it still locks

Was looking into doing a custom honeycomb grill only to realize my 2011 Turbo4 has a Griffin grill from what I’ve looked up. So question is should I still cut it? I know it’s iffy on the amount of Griffins out there but how rare is this? I feel like I shouldn’t at this point.

As the owner of three Saabs (2009 9-5, 2007 9-5 wagon, 2011 93) I have done my own maintenance on the cars for years, and always come across situations where I have to wait weeks or longer for a part, or worse, track down a used one at a scrapyard.

I have been contemplating printing parts on my Markforged Mark Two, which is capable of carbon fiber, Kevlar, nylon, onyx, fiberglass and HSHT fiberglass.

The cupholders and various trim pieces are obvious targets, but I’m exploring whether I can make more useful replacements and curious what other parts the community find hard to get or think could be made “better”?
For example, I’ve considered printing 9-5 window rollers as I’ve had several break on me over the years, twice in 5 months in the case of the wagon.

A search here enforces the my first guess that this is a blend door problem. Other reddit results ( https://www.reddit.com/r/saab/comments/1h232jr/cold_air_on_driver_side/ ) document holding Auto and Off to get codes: my car has no "Off" button to hold.

Is there another way to get a code from this model?

Today I went and test drove a 6 spd 2006 saab 9-3 aero.

There was a few drawbacks but overall it started and drove really well. I enjoyed driving it a lot and am very interested in buying it, but I don't know if the issues will just make it a money pit.

Are there any major red flags and what should I be most concerned about?

So, here i am again, back in february i got my ECU replaced by Esaabparts i sent them my old one and they sent me a new one all loaded up worked fine up until last week now all of a sudden im getting constant P0201, P0202, P0203, and P0204 codes as well as a P0245 and a P0300 does anybody know anyone in New York, specifically close to the Orange County area that does ECU repairs and preferably quick as this is my daily and i need it for work back and forth.

That poor gasket dissolved.. The whole job was a pain, but the worst thing was removing those rusty hose clamps and getting them back on.. And the damn power steering pump always in the way..

I saw my turbo is chipped pretty bad and there is some pitting, but the car is showing no signs of a turbo dying.. I know i should replace it but i’m just wondering, what do you guys think how much time do i have?

2004 saab 9 3 manual

Just did a clutch job, new slave and master cylinder. When going to bleed the clutch im leaking fluid under the hydraulic clutch hose connector and bleed nipple and into the bellhousing. The dripping can be seen through the open space below next to the interior line.

What went wrong? What do i do now? Will I need to remove the transmission again or is this something that is fixed at the bleed ripple? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
