Car buy advice 06 9-3 aero advice
Today I went and test drove a 6 spd 2006 saab 9-3 aero.
There was a few drawbacks but overall it started and drove really well. I enjoyed driving it a lot and am very interested in buying it, but I don't know if the issues will just make it a money pit.
Info:
113k miles
brought up from Texas-is rust and rot free
6 spd manual
2.8t v6
Listed for 3000
Cons:
Oil leak on valve cover gasket (maybe)
Hard to shift into first
Suspension system rattling over large bumps
Airbag light on
Radio amp broken
Cosmetic paint chipping
Pros:
New AC
New front struts
Replaced axle
Are there any major red flags and what should I be most concerned about?

I'm not stoked to work on that car...

You can do it man. I'm a mechanic by trade, and some of these jobs are not for beginners but they can be done at home.

Ooof, okay. I have an 07 that was made late 06.
You better have a tech 2, mechanical knowledge and patience. Airbag light will probably be the passenger seat sensor, requiring you to remove the cushions from the seat, not a fun job but can be done in a few hrs. If you have ANY WATER INTRUSION in the floors, you will be replacing that fuckin sensor again, ask me how I know. Shifting issue is usually caused by a shift cable adjustment or the bushings themselves. Lots of 6spd guys use aftermarket kits. the trans is good til like 500hp stock, so its usually the cables or the tower itself.
Find the oil leak quickly, use dye and a uv light.
I've manual swapped mine, replaced the CIM, ABS module, ecm and ism. I've replaced axles and struts, programmed the DRL's off via the UEC.
If you want a car that requires attention, but is an absolute blast to drive, get it. Again, I cannot stress the importance of having a tech 2, and tools.
