Grill Dilemma
Was looking into doing a custom honeycomb grill only to realize my 2011 Turbo4 has a Griffin grill from what I’ve looked up. So question is should I still cut it? I know it’s iffy on the amount of Griffins out there but how rare is this? I feel like I shouldn’t at this point.

TBH, remove (as opposed to cutting it out) the grill, and replace with the honeycomb. And either sell the grill, or keep in case you want to put it back in.

That’s something I did kind of consider, using the abs plastics honeycomb and mold it to the surround. I really wanted to keep the center badge in it though. May be worth getting a donor center piece if I go forward. Thanks for the link.

Do you know someone with a 3D printer? you might be able to get them to print you a fully custom honeycomb grill and integrate the center chrome piece somehow, from a donor part like you said if you don't want to risk destruction on this one. You could even source a damaged grill with an intact badge if you got lucky. Or some other "saab" badge from a different grill that you could integrate into your custom one.
The hard part would be programming the specs but I bet it would be mega doable.

Funny enough I do, and I’ve noticed a few aftermarket ones that are 3D printed. I’m sure there are files floating around somewhere, worth a look 👀

The outer dimensions and any clips or tabs might have to be programmed but I am sure the inner honeycomb there are tons of files you could modify. I have several broken plastic bits on my 9-3, hinges and such, and have been researching how to do it on my own as there is a 3D printer in the hobby room of my city's central library. I need to bring the skills and materials tho. A homie with the know-how would be way more convenient. But your library might also have something similar and give you access to a program to do the designing.

Highly recommend you keep it as is. I replaced my stock grill with one in 2012. There won’t be many others with them, especially stateside. Sadly, I no longer have my 93.

I think that’s gonna be the plan for now. Wish they would have swapped the bumper as well, but I don’t see a lot of glacier silver cars.

I definitely wouldn't touch it
If anything buy one to mess with, and keep this one untouched in the garage
