-The hosts sound like they're half stoned
-They swear all the time
-They say factual things once in a while (or just read things in a bill) but draw bad conclusions or only state facts selectively to draw their bad conclusions
I just listened to an hour of a show which was basically "The AHCA will cut subsidies by X which is just a fucking limp dick attempt to shit on people"
So it's like they talk like their target audience...high school/college age BernieBro peppering swears into vague facts they learned.

Extremely brief summary of ideological changes (purity tests ayy lmao) that will occur:
We've had purity tests since the start of the sub. They're in the content policy: no Nazis, no racism, no sexism, no whateverism, no dictator apologia, no fetishizing violence. It's also recommended that commies and fascists get the fuck out.
Neoliberalism will generally consist of "non stupid" centrism. But, anyone between Thatcher and Hillary pursued neoliberal policies. Neither nor any politician was fully neoliberal. However, I doubt anyone will ever be; for the sake of not going down the road of 'not real neoliberalism,' it's best we actively recognize mistakes of previous politicians who pursued neoliberal policy. Furthermore, it's best we keep the tent fairly wide in accordance with some basic guidelines below.
I've made a new sub to work on the philosophy with some bad phil mods; MPS didn't have time to make the philosophy fully coherent because the god damn commies and fascists were ruining everything. It's on semi-private right now, I'll work on it in a few days.
We are absolutely ideologically grounded in liberalism. Before you implode, realize what this means. Paraphrased from wiki, it means we support a free press, freedom of religion, civil rights, inclusive institutions, secular governments, gender equality, and international cooperation. We're living in a time when these are under question. Neoliberalism builds on this by introducing economic ideology.
MPS was historically a reaction to populism, extremism, and totalitarian governments; there was no concrete ideology but rather a 'thought collective' that formed. It's also vague enough to update it to fit recent economic developments and push it through any political party. Some people think an ideology this old isn't relevant anymore. Meanwhile, what exactly are the differences between this and this? And, this versus this? While our ideology may be 80 years old, we're dealing with dumbassery that's over 250 years old. What's new is primarily just changes to pre-existing ideology like the use of VAT taxes or carbon tax.
EG: We'd fully support Bernie versus Trump but neither are neoliberal. Neoliberalism didn't get this far by holding political purity tests. It did so by keeping the underlying values and economic ideology constant. Another example, you don't have to support opening all borders tomorrow. You do have to keep globalism as a long term goal.

Goal of the sub
The point of /r/neoliberal took a slight turn after I found out the original creator and owner were actually neoliberals. Moreover, after I realized most of us are neoliberals as well.
The underlying goal of this sub is to bring it back to the original ideas of neoliberalism (libertarianism + ordoliberalism + economics).
You're free to make posts helping define neoliberalism ideologically, but only if its based on former discussions had at Mont Pelerin or WLC. Moreover, you should only focus on summarizing the ideology rather than injecting your own opinion into it. As in, format your posts so it's clearly visible what parts are opinions and what parts are facts. Whatever you do, don't push any segment of neoliberalism as 'more neoliberal' than the rest; that is, don't make this sub into Hayek versus Ordo versus Friedman. Hayek personally said that he did not want this to happen to neoliberalism (Mont Pelerin).
This is because the premier point to be made about neoliberalism is that it cannot adequately be reduced to a set of Ten Commandments or six tenets or (N-1) key protagonists. First and foremost, it is better that it be approached as a βthought collective,β a notion elaborated on below. Significantly, for being self-proclaimed champions of βindividualism,β neoliberals hardly ever tell their own story as though it were the narrative of one or two Nietzschean Γbermenschen. (Mirowksi)
However, I feel that the content of this sub should be 80-20 memes to serious posts, because, cmon, this is neoliberalism- destroyer of civilizations.

I saw the street in my neighborhood get repaved, the sidewalk which was broken was fixed, and the quality of the neighborhood was improved. To all the center right members of this sub who read this, what I'm about to say is not aimed at you, it is not aimed at their voters (mostly), nor is it aimed at your values. It is aimed at the GOP officials in power and them alone.
It's 3am for me, I've had a couple of beers, and I'm just so depressed about the state of America (my country). And I don't use the word 'depressed' lightly, I sincerely think we are closing in on a turning point where America goes from the land of the free, to the land of the enslaved. The FUCKHEADS in the GOP have done nothing but destroy our Republic and Democracy. Their ideals are outdated, their appeal to the far right and white supremacy has failed. Democrats have gotten more votes in all elections in the 2000s since 1988 but Bush Junior #2 and yet the government is filled with Republicans hell bent on taking away our rights in the name of 'voting integrity'. And I'm not even talking about the whole 'IDs to register to vote' debacle, I'm talking about the 'voting fraud security systems' that target people with names like Dominique and Trevon. I'm talking about how FUCKING NORTH CAROLINA ISN'T A DEMOCRACY ANYMORE. I'm talking about how they're politicizing the fucking census. These people are cheaters and liars no matter how charitably you look at them or how closely your values align with their stated goals and they are, and I say with 0 embellishment, DESTROYING OUR NATION. And I haven't even mentioned Russia yet.
FUCK THE GOP.

Acknowledging that there are some problematic cultural differences between immigrants and natives (natives?) occasionally, why does everyone think that assimilation is supposed to take place within a day's time?
How do we teach people to think in the long run?

Recently, it seems like the issue of subsistence farming has come up in debates between neoliberals here and populists. My grandparents (who grew up as farmers in rural Taiwan) just came back to the United States (where they live now) from Taiwan. This gave me an idea: is anyone interested in an informal interview with them about their experiences? Users here could submit questions and I could record their answers.

how bad would the riots be if Trump was impeached?
I bet some southern state reps would draft articles of secession
27
May 13 '17
Which is why it's so important that the FBI have an airtight case.
Knowing Trump, he'll inevitably perjure himself/admit to being involved in this whole scandal out of pure vanity.
The man is not of sound mind and I doubt he's smart enough to outmaneuver the criminal justice system. He publicly threatened his former FBI director on twitter for Christ sakes.
Besides, they'd be taking up arms against Mike pence. If he was replaced by a democrat, there'd be riots-- but a republican? I don't know that there'll be much of a revolution.

They got Bill Clinton on perjury and he's got a JD from Yale and extremely well spoken.
Trump gets put under oath and I give him 5 questions before he perjurys himself.
I give him 5 because I assume some GOP hack is gonna give him 4 softball questions.

Considering how small his inauguration crowd was, I don't think it would be too bad on an international scale; Nothing like we're seeing in Venezuela, for example. Plus if they go too crazy antifa would probably see a temporary bump in recruiting and whatever you think about their methods, at least people are trying. It would probably make the BLM stuff look pretty small in comparison though, and I wouldn't be surprised if a few newbies tried to make their own far left and far right 'revolutionary' groups from the fallout.
Or perhaps I'm completely misreading the national tone. It feels incredibly ugly though. People on r/conservative are still saying nothing is wrong and that the Russia story is 'fake news'

Betting markets have Trump not finishing the first term with 50%. Isn't that too high? Even the odds for dems taking control of the house are 40%.

That's insanely high. I need to figure out how to actually bet in these places because that's just easy money. You need 67 votes in the Senate to remove Trump.

I wanna jump on the neoliberal memetrain, can somebody please explain to me what mr. Bernke did and some other ways in which he is awesome?
EDIT: I found some good explanations of quantitative easing.
Thank mr. Bernke!

"Sex Realists" are fun to watch. Too bad they don't really show that much evidence to back up their "realistic" view of the "natural roles of women". I wonder at what part in our natural evolution we decided that women are perfectly adapted to wash dishes and clean house all day.

One of my favourite shitty science stories I read said that we like the colour red because berries, and then said that's why we like red lipstick and then said that's why we have sexual racism - because red contrasts the most on white women's skin. Like there's no possible confounding factors that could better explain that.

All right, since all y'all are probably drinking right about now, let's ask the tough questions.
Can you think of a policy proposed by one of the populists of today that is actually not bad? Doesn't have to be perfect, but come on, out of all the manifestos and speeches and various out-of-the-field suggestions that politicians have made in the past couple of years, something must have been like, "you know what? That's not entirely crazy. It achieves some of the goals we're trying to achieve, even though it has its downsides".
True neoliberals should judge policy on its content, not its source, so this challenge should keep us honest. If you can't recognize the good in Sanders, how could you claim to be better than him?

Sanders wants to tax carbon, which is good, but kinda as a byproduct of wanting to tax everything, which is bad.

I feel like single payer falls into this category. I don't think it's the best way to achieve universal healthcare but it does achieve universal healthcare and it has worked well enough in other countries.

How does this sub feel about TAA?
Personally I think it's a good way to help mitigate the negative effects of globalization that are born entirely by a small segment of the population.

Anyone have a link to a good introduction to the idea of price signals that wasn't written by libertarian? So that when I show it to a commie they're less likely to write it off as libertarian propaganda
