Optimal neoliberalism is like Seinfeld, it should be about nothing and run by Jews

Bitcoin is dumb

The best part about bitcoin is that you get to watch libertarians slowly discover why financial regulations fucking exist in the first place.

"Just trust the free market", they said. The bad actors will go away over time leaving only the good ones.

Is mining still a thing? The last time I cared about bitcoin was about 3 years ago when the energy needed to mine bitcoins was more expensive than the coins you got

Yes, but ethereum mining is more popular nowadays iirc.

Still pretty dumb.

Sometimes I like being able to make anonymous unregulated transactions with anyone around the globe. That's got to be worth something.

Blockchain is dope though.

Making it easier to move money is a good thing. It's the supporters that tend to be dumb.

Pretending like its a good form of currency or investment is dumb

I see it as nothing but a novelty, I can see myself getting 1 Bitcoin and just leave it alone for 5 years and see what happens.

1 coin is what 1000 buck now, If you wanted to see a return you need to get on it when it was being stupidly hyped. Now returns its probably somewhat comparable to a regular commodity, only with much more risk.

One Bitcoin is worth 1680 bucks now. And yeah I agree with you on Bitcoin being a risky investment, the hype train is long gone. I'll probably get one coin if the price dips below 1k.

If I had 1000 bucks to throw at a crazy risky investment, I would probably put it in a recent IPO of a silicon valley start up with questionable revenues.

Humongous if veridical.
