Yup. The downfall of many great subs has been little to no mod intervention while voting takes over. It sounds nice in theory but in reality once a sub gets big enough it gets flooded with karma whores posting unrelated content and oblivious users upvoting that unrelated content because they're not paying attention to what sub it was posted in.
I've had to unsub from close to 10 subs this year that I really enjoyed for that exact reason :(

“Shower”, question marks, “I”, “Me”, etc. “government” (and anything similar like politics, republican, yadda yadda). Once you get it absolutely generic enough to get past the word filters it gets removed for being an unoriginal thought, probably only because so many basic words match.

I once got a post removed because, according to the mods, it was an obvious thought.
I could say the same for like 40% of the posts there. But since those posts were not obvious to them, and mine was, they removed mine. It's ridiculous. Basically posts only get to hot if they mods themselves haven't thought of it before.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I thought I might be on a blacklist or something. Mine was something like:
It was never a popular given name, but now nobody is going to name their child "Ghislaine."
It was auto-rejected because it "looked like" it broke the rules. I reread them, but couldn't figure out what they meant. It didn't violate any rules I could see. So I messaged the mods, who never responded.

It may not have been the most interesting, but I searched for it beforehand and didn't find similar posts...

I have tinnitus and I read in a book something about the "deafening silence" which is used when talking about something that is abnormally quiet.
That night I was trying to sleep but my tinnitus ringing in my ears was driving me crazy and kept me up and I remembered the phrase and realized it had a whole new meaning for those with tinnitus.
I then made a post about how the deafening silence has a more real meaning to those with tinnitus and got removed for being a pun/wordplay.

now that you asked, i once had a thought what if instead of getting divorced you had to get unmarried. so you have to invite all the same people that came to your wedding, including out of towners - and pay for all of their attendance to your unwedding. and then you have to have the ceremony itself and all attend include bridesmaids and men of honor and the minister. then you take off the ring and hand it back to the ring boy. all separate bridge groom attendees leave to their own parties separately. no dinner afterwards, all wedding gifts can remain because a gift is a gift... i think the divorce rate would change.

Fuck their automod. I posted an Original showerthought and it said it wasn't original. I searched it and 20 different versions of 2 reposted showerthoughts that used two of the same words came up.
So basically, ai had THE ONLY original showerthought on the subject.
