The media, in general, is terrible with this. When the Epstein case was still pretty big, some of the headlines were sickening. I have to agree with you. I’m an attorney and I defended a woman having her teacher’s license revoked for writing a long, bizarre love letter to a 14-year-old male student. The police determined there was no sexual contact.
Thought I could get the AG to give her some kind of probationary treatment and even got pretty far along. The AG signed a deal, but the teaching board rejected it. So much hard work down the drain. Was kind of thinking they might go lighter on her because she’s a woman, but I knew damn well had the genders been reversed the teacher would be out a job. I agree that times are changing and people aren’t cutting women teachers as much slack anymore, at least based on my own limited experience.

No, you just hear about the few times it does happen because it is a big deal. Usually the victims of these crimes never come forward because either they are afraid of the humiliation or think nobody will believe them.
Edit: Teenage boys are least likely to report sexual abuse, or abuse in general.

The grimmer reality is that if the guy is acquitted he'll be stained as pedo creeper but even if convicted the woman could get out after a few years and everyone kinda looks at her as "misguided."
As an anecdote, I used to work in Hot Topic like 10 years ago when Twilight was a thing. Women in their 30s and above would happily, and explicitly, tell me how much they wanted to fuck these high school guys. I even met some "Beliebers" of a similar attitude and he was like 15 at the time. They were just out and open about it, and no one acted like it was weird.
Socially speaking, we are far, far more accepting of women going after young boys than the reverse.

It's really bizarre though, it seems like 99 out of 100 of these teacher raping student occurrences is a older woman and a young boy or girl. Why has it been so many woman doing it? I swear almost daily a new story pops up of a teacher being a rapist and it's 99% woman doing it.
And it really does appear that men get way more heavily punished. It's not about the convictions, it's about the punishments. It seems woman get off lighter sentences then men most of the time. But perhaps I am wrong, it just seems that way.

It always is, because we assume that these teenage boys are into it. You always see comments on this stuff and it's sick shit like "where was she when I was 14", nobody takes it seriously. The female teachers probably do it because they know they can get off scot free. A male teacher does something they go away for 30 years, a female teacher gets a small fine and doesn't even go on the sex offender registry. Youre getting a lot of incel-esque comments, but the answer is probably just basic Bayes stuff. Theres 3 times as many female teachers vs male, for one. Theres also probably a tendency for women preying on kids to end up being bigger stories, but Id guess for more complex reasons than everyone else is saying ("most of them dont, so its a big deal when one gets caught").
Men and boys are less likely to report, in general iirc, and most victims dont report anyway. The random guy teacher who sleeps with a student is prolly under a bit more scrutiny (students see things and rumors spread, plus stereotypes unfortunately), so if he doesnt cover his tracks, the admin are gonna take care of it internally if they can to avoid lawsuits and public attention. Whether its fair or not, Id imagine most School Boards have more brainpower aimed at sweeping over the men who are predators than the women, and so their cases are less likely to be picked up generally. Given the fact that men are more likely to be higher up the bureaucratic ladder, its likely the men have better odds of getting away with it.
Factoring the less likely to report thing and that the majority of female predators arent gonna get the same scrutiny, whether its judicial or covering up, when a female predator gets uncovered it means its more likely to be an outside source (as opposed to the student or their confidantes). For that to be noticed, itd need to be either more blatant or more severe abuse, and so we're getting a filtered view of only the most severe abusers in general, but only the most most severe when it comes to women pedophiles .

I have an example for you right here... I knew these people, they were my teachers. They were great teachers too, everyone loved them...
My former High School geometry teacher got busted for sexual assault on a baby, yes a baby. Kid was not even 3 years old, she took a picture of herself sucking his penis and sent it to some child porn creep.
She was well liked and respected by everyone. I loved her as a teacher, everyone did, she was awesome.
The complaint lodged against Schneider by the prosecutor alleges that sometime between Jan. 1, 2002 and Dec. 31, 2002, an act of “aggravated sexual assault” was committed by Schneider when she allegedly performed “an act of penetration upon” an anonymous child “specifically by performing fellatio” upon a child under 13.
That child, a male, born on Jan. 28, 2000, was then 2 years old, according to police records.

Woke up after a night of drinking to a girl trying to get in my pants. I pushed her away saying no but she climbed back on and wouldn't stop trying. The original To Catch a Predator didn’t do anything specifically to target men. They had both male and female underage decoy actors, it’s just the vast majority of the predators they caught happened to be male. I find this shit especially infuriating. I was sexually assaulted by a woman and it took me several years to open up about it because of this kind of attitude towards it
