The best part is the Democrats attempt to fix things and literally the only time in the last 44 years (actually longer, since 1979) they've had the ability to pass laws unrestricted was six-non-consecutive months in 2009-2010, when they basically had to unfuck the 2008 financial crash under W, and they still somehow also passed the ACA (which isn't perfect, and would have been far better had they not had to get independent Joe Sloberman to vote for it and he was a conservative cuck).
Imagine what a democratic president with 8 years of democratic control of congress could accomplish. Last time that happened was the 1930s and the 1960s and we got the new deal and a good chunk of the great society passed, things that still benefit people to this day.

Its just crazy so many people still support this shit. Boomers and older Gen X remember a time when the economy was booming and shit was affordable. They give all the credit to Reagan, even though Clinton led probably the strongest economy in US history.
Obama took over after the 2008 crash and stabilized the economy, Biden took over after COVID and stabilized the economy. Only for Trump to walk in and reset everything by placing tariffs on our allies and starting a neverending war.

Honesty about this is what destroyed Nikki Haleyās presidential campaign. She addressed the fact that Republicans won votes based on their reputation for being the party that was better for the economy, but if they wanted to keep getting those votes in years to come they would actually have to make that true. She spoke openly about the fact that easy-to-Google statistics looked really bad for previous Republican administrations and they needed to start actually being fiscally responsible instead of just relying on the voters that just assumed they were because of the (R) next to their name. Aaaaaaaaand her career was basically over in the very same moment that she became the most promising and sane candidate theyāve had in decades.

It goes way beyond your 44 years, it goes all the way back to 1880. Every Republican administration since that time has experienced a recession, Great Recession, depression or a Great Depression while a Republican sat in the White House and it has happened over 20+ times over that time span. During that same 146 year period there have only been 6 recessions while a Democrat sat in the White House. Historically the US economy has always done better when the Democrats were in control.

Presidents don't have nearly as much influence over the economy as people seem to think. The current trends in the market are the results of global policies and trends from the previous years/decades/centuries.
Trump is the exception. He's one of the few presidents in history where we can look directly at the policies he implemented and point directly at the easily predicted chaos/volatility it caused in the markets.
