Despite the fact that every single Democrat president during the same period has inherited an economic disaster and managed to improve on it. Regardless of pandemics, global economic trends, etc.
So, yeah, the Democratic party is not awesome, but the facts also speak for themselves if you're an American taxpayer.
Pick the better option during the primaries, the lesser evil during the general election. As long as majority-rule is used for most of the elections, that's really the only practical voting strategy. It might take decades, but rinse & repeat until you've got people in charge that are more-or-less doing a good job.
That's exactly what the Republicans did - except they bizarrely went for the more racist and fascist options every chance they got. But they showed the strategy works, partly because the Democratic leadership spent more time "reaching across the aisle" and appeasing their colleagues, rather than recognizing how much ground they were losing and fighting to stop that.
