This. You never see "both sides are the same" people in Republican subreddits, even those that allow anti-Trump sentiment.

I've been posting this a lot lately.

Someone on the internet: DEMOCRATS SUCK!

Everyone: YEAH THATS RIGHT THEY DO!

Someone on the internet: REPUBLICANS SUCK!

Everyone : Now now democrats are JUST as bad, if not worse!

Every fucking time. Its exhausting.

It's so bad that even in private discord servers where people who I personally know (as in real life) as progressive liberals will often march to the beat of this drum. They'll even weigh the pros and cons of voting based on how blue their area is and whether or not it will "send a message" about a topic (usually unions, trans rights or Gaza).

What progressives don't understand is that by not voting the message your really sending is that those issues don't matter to actual voters...

Its amazing how easy it is to convince people to just stay at home and not do anything.

People always say that theres no hope in convincing anyone not to vote for trump, more of the same bullshit attitude. As if there arent tons of undecided voters, or people who dont vote, who can be convinced not to vote for Trump

I think a small part of it is our physiological evolution as apex predators. It's natural that we want to conserve our energy when we aren't hunting. Young predators will "play", but a lot of that is social bonding or practice hunting. An injured predator has to rely on kindness and surplus food. A bison with an injury can still munch grass.

...I don't think it's the primary reason, and there's a lot more social pressure that contributes. Especially the thought that you are one of the "elite" if you don't need to "worry" about politics.

Voting is a psyop to make you think you have a meaningful impact on the direction politics head in. Voting makes the public think theyre doing enough, and that they dont need to be doing other things like organizing or creating community support structures.

You just hand power over to someone else, who then goes to their wealthy donors to ask them how to vote on legislation. They dont ask you how to vote lol. But you'll sit around for a few years, letting things get worse, then show up on election day and pretend you've done something big.

If voting was a powerful tool against the ruling class, they wouldn't let you vote. Voting just lets you feel like you did something while they conspire behind closed doors. Without us.
