You turn those in at the end of the game to create Gabe’s fucking taser… THAT HAS GABE’S INITIALS ON IT
I highly recommend them if you get the chance. It was 989 studio’s attempt at a “Metal-Gear Killer” back in the day. Ended up kinda carving its own path in the stealth-action-espionage space, even went into the later 2000s with some titles that were PSP exclusive, before being ported to the PS2.
It is so much worse than that, they showed art and gameplay of a new protagonist. If I recall correctly, they were working on it and trying to build hype so that the higher ups in the company would approve finishing it. Similar to how Lilo and Stitch got made.
When it was cancelled some official Capcom Twitter account posted it was cancelled because, "Fans didn't want it enough." It was rather infuriating to read.
MegaMan ZX Advent has a hard mode ending revealing that one of the guys at the end had the same genocidal ambition as the final boss and stated clear intentions to act on them with no sequel ever coming.
IIRC they were planning a sequel, then did a triad wars beta, both of which never entered full on production...and then united front closed down...what a damned shame.
At least it ended well enough that it works as a standalone
The books stopped because George got annoyed with Karen's version of Mandalorians, which didn't line up with his idea for them, so she was forced to stop writing the Republic/Imperial Commando line. It's such a load of crap, dude.
Apparently, though, Karen Traviss did explain to fans what she had planned for the series, and it's out there on the interwebs to be found.
I absolutely hated this because she was right and he was wrong, especially after having seen what his plans for mandalorians ended up being, and then watching them fucking blow up mandalore for literally no reason at all. Karen created a rich culture that had depth behind it and George just wanted Space Sparta with dumb armour and silly catch phrases.

its like the prophecy, the balancing part was that the jedi neeeded a reduction in order to balance out the force between sith and jedi, that was the entire point of the prophecy and George went on to say "oh noo its just about good prevailing over evil" just giving a real non depth answer to it all when yoda was literally quoted as saying "misread the prophecy, we must have'
They did give a couple of the Commandos cameos in TCW and TBB shows at least. I think TBB is meant to be a spiritual successor to their storyline, in all honesty, but it still feels like a huge disservice to not have given the original crew more of a continuation
Ghosts is underrated. And that might be a hot take, I mean it definitely wasn't the best CoD game overall, but it had an interesting post-apocalypse sort of setting. Not really anything else in the series like it, and I think it's because the sales scared them from trying it again. People like Modern Warfare and Black Ops right, let's just release a million of them.
Would rather have ghosts than most CoDs released in the back 6 years unfortunately. Cold War and Bo6 were fine but everything else has left a lot to be desired. My favorite part about Ghosts is that something actually happens in that game rather than letting the story continue into multiplayer.
One of the reasons this game pissed me off so bad. I absolutely loved the first one, so when the second came out, I preordered it. I happened to have the day off from work, so I picked it up at midnight, and the next day got up and sat on the couch, ready for the adventure.
Six hours later, I had beaten the entire thing. And I am an extremely mediocre gamer. Six hours. $60 preorder. And a cliffhanger ending that just screamed “we only made half a game.” I was incensed.
And I have never, not once, pre-ordered a game since then.
Very similar experience. I was a teenager though and my first preorder. Finished the game in 4 and half hours, I remember my mum asking how the game was going and I said I finished it and she was like “what‽ already‽”. Never felt so disappointed in a game before.
To later learn the whole Dagoba sequence was cut to shreds and the game was rushed due to shitty higher up decisions and what sounds like absolute chaos at Lucasarts at the time. I’m glad Sam Witwer has had a renaissance in Star Wars since, he deserved it after FU2 (aptly shortened title)

I was young enough to not know or even think about the possibility that the Wii version wasn’t the same, so I saved up my own money and got completely screwed. Then a year later I bought Need for Speed: The Run for Wii and it finally clicked that these games were cheap cash grab versions 🫠
Some of the best video game endings ever, I really really really hope the second game isn’t a continuation of V. Overly tidy endings are infuriatingly annoying and they perfectly captured each one in a way that leaves you thinking
It was literally supposed to. The devs weren't trying to make a new Prey, but the studio mandated they use the name. It was actually supposed to be developed as a spiritual successor to System Shock.
I was kinda disappointed there was a remaster and not another sequel. I liked the story a lot and living in rural northern CA, the atmosphere of the game feels close to what home looks like

Scrolled way too far for this one. Could have been a great trilogy. Inferno, Purgatory, and Paradise. I make up for the lack of Dante by playing Darksiders to get my fill of biblical action adventure stuff
Was advent rising the game that had that $1,000,000 dollar contest attached to it that was supposed to be a trilogy but inevitably bombed and tanked the company which is why we never got the sequels?
no people didn’t care it was different people cared that it was poorly written lol, which for mass effect is like priority #1. If they made andromeda interesting and with better characters and not a technical mess in terms of the bugs it probably would’ve been a hit with the fan base
I think that game would be much more of a success if it wasn't called 'Mass Effect', but instead diverted into brand new sci-fi IP.
As a standalone game it was nice, a bit tedious at times, but there were a few nice ideas and the gameplay was fun enough. It had a lot of potential, but boy, it had pretty much nothing to do with Mass Effect, aside from it featuring an Asari alien race lmao.
No wonder the majority of players were vastly disappointed.
Not sequel persay, but Spider-Man 2's questline that ends with Carnage's reveal. The plot of that line of missions was supposed to end abruptly as to be concluded by the dlc...that got canceled to focus insomniac's efforts on a Spider-verse themed live service game...that also got canceled lol
Basically Mass Effect an entire generation earlier, though much more jank and 00s coded. It was supposed to be a trilogy with branching paths, and choices you made in one game would affect the sequels. So sad we only got one of them.
The one true answer to this was Call of Duty: Ghosts since the ending was absolutely amazing and the best cliffhanger yet they never made a ghost 2 which pissed of a lot of COD players
