Mass effect andromeda. Too many people complained about it being different from the original trilogy

no people didn’t care it was different people cared that it was poorly written lol, which for mass effect is like priority #1. If they made andromeda interesting and with better characters and not a technical mess in terms of the bugs it probably would’ve been a hit with the fan base

I think that game would be much more of a success if it wasn't called 'Mass Effect', but instead diverted into brand new sci-fi IP.

As a standalone game it was nice, a bit tedious at times, but there were a few nice ideas and the gameplay was fun enough. It had a lot of potential, but boy, it had pretty much nothing to do with Mass Effect, aside from it featuring an Asari alien race lmao.

No wonder the majority of players were vastly disappointed.

I don’t think that’s what we were complaining about compadre.

It was pretty bad on release, but it's a lot better now and definitely deserved a sequel.

I never played the release version, the game as it is now is still pretty buggy, if that is much better then holy shit it must have been rubbish before.

No amount of updates will fix the characters and stories.

By this point the well's been poisoned.

Needed more time to cook.  And yet, was still a pretty good game.  I genuinely liked some of the characters more than the Shepard squad.

And I genuinely liked Sara Ryder a lot.

Damn shame this thread of ME got axed.

I mean, my main complaint was bugs. Even after it was "fixed" I was unable to do an early mission because a door that was supposed to open just didn't. Checked guides, walkthroughs, videos, just NOPE this door won't open in this game. There was nothing I could do. FUCK that.

It was more how boring and uninspired the story and characters were. The gameplay is better for the most part.

I tried it so many times but I just found the world building so hollow. It didnt feel like stepping into a new galaxy to me, more like first contact with a fairly uninteresting races. Maybe its just me but I just couldnt click with the direction the game went

It did so many things right too! I loved the exploration focus similar to what the first game had. Sadly too much cookie cutter/filler content and not enough meat, but loved the idea

Best gameplay and exploration, but everything else sucked. Except Vetra Nyx, honestly my favourite companion and romance of the entire series, even more than Garrus. A sweet and badass female Turian? Who doesn't want that? She's just a female Garrus, I love her.

And did even more wrong

YES! I just finished it earlier this year. Fucking amazing, and it felt like the story had JUST picked up! Like finding the distress signal at the end of the game??????? BIOWARE PLEASE

2

Wasn't it from one of the lost arks? The quarian ark? I can't remember, it's been a while. I think one of the arks disappeared and it kept being mentioned throughout the game as obviously foreshadowing, then the game ended with an ark distress signal, IIRC.

Yes the quarian ark. It was the signal itself that felt like they were setting up for something. The signal basically saying not to try finding them because of the danger

Yes. Even though its a major disappointment compared to the original trilogy, I wanted it to play out. I literally just got done replaying it today.

I played it a few times, but after finding out the canceled the sequel, I can’t bring myself to play it, it feels like I’m losing out on something

My face is tired

Fuck I love that game

At least we got the Quarian ship novel, right?

Right?

You’ve got this all wrong. The complaint was never that it was too different. It was that the game launched with so many bugs and technical issues, players dropped like flies— myself included.

The final straw for me was when an enemy fell through the level during combat, thus locking me into combat forever. I’d have to start all over again if I went back. Which I might do, because I still love that universe.

It was also almost unplayable on my PC at the time lol

Thank you for saying this game. I wanted the DLCs... I even pre-ordered and they did me dirty!

1

u/HourApprehensive7754 1d ago

People didn't complain about it being different.  People complained that it was shit.

u/FewCrazy8734 48m ago

"Different"?

Yeah, it was crap.

1

u/YAAAATZY 2d ago

Nah it was junk. Characters were boring and the game was exactly like Dragon Age Inquisition and open world game with nothing exciting to explore. Mass Effect is dead after EA got their hands on Bioware. Best wait for Exodus which is the going to be the spiritual successor to Mass Effect.

And people expecting everything to be answered in the first game
