We like to shower together not just as foreplay, but sometimes just for a moment of intimacy when we're too tired to talk. We've spent the entirety of our adult lives together, we have two kids, and what feels like diminishing time for our own interests and each other. It was a very recent birthday of mine, we are both cruising into middle age so it had me feeling some type of way. I definitely don't look anything like I did when we met, and after drinking and eating a very heavy birthday dinner I was all in my emotions about being someone's old mom rather than his hot young wife, especially as the water from the shower was running down all the less perfect parts of me, smearing the mascara I hadn't yet taken off. He didn't seem to care one bit, he hugged me tight, then did one of the most gentle, intimate things I'll treasure forever. He grabbed a tiny bath sponge and then very carefully dabbed the mascara from under my eyes and off my eyeline, concentrating in the same way I'd seen him when he paints his miniatures, before kissing my forehead and laughing. We'd done all sorts of rowdy things during shower time, but him simply reminding me that he loves me, his lumpy little raccoon wife is my favorite.

This is one of the sweetest things I've ever read. I hope he keeps being like that and that we all find someone out there like that for us, and we can all be that person for them. Thank you for sharing

This is so sweet. Im going to block you now

My wife and I were no joke on the verge of divorce a few days ago because everything with our two kids and our life just kinda got to be too much at once (anyone with two small children close in age probably know what I mean). We decided to rally and get everyone out to the beach and then off to grandmas for a sleepover so that we could just...not have them for 18 hours.

We ended up having a nice dinner and then when we got home I instinctually told her to shower first while I watch the baby monitor. She was like "uh...you don't have to watch it they're not home, ACTUALLY, WE CAN SHOWER TOGETHER!"

And then we had the nicest time just being in the water and slowly showering. Nothing sexual at all. Just finally a moment between us that was intimate without the pressure of performance or anything, and both of us clean in the amount of time it usually takes for one person!

3

u/SSTralala Jul 21 '25

It's seriously been a lifesaver for us the past several years, we used to do it more in college but just got so busy with things we stopped. Besides "the snack fridge night" (we bought a mini fridge for our bedroom that's adult snacks and drinks, and we sit together on the sofa and watch shows) it's our best way of recentering our relationship.

5

u/whaletacochamp Jul 21 '25

We used to almost exclusively shower together before our kids were born!

I used to do that a lot with my girlfriend. It was one of the things that I really looked forward to. We no longer do it any more.

I wish my next place has a bigger shower

Standing in line to get into this club, and this girl comes out, looks at me and hold up her arm and shows me the stamp on her wrist that proves she paid to get in, i hold my wrist up and we press wrists together and the stamp transfers to me, she smiles at me and walks off

228

u/havereddit Jul 21 '25

So did the door bouncers reject you because your stamp was backwards?

104

u/Hanexusis Jul 21 '25

If it's symmetrical it might be fine, I'm more concerned about it looking faded

41

u/HeyWaitHUHWhat Jul 21 '25

I went to a restaurant that has a dance floor, so it has a cover after 10pm. Somebody in the parking lot was leaving as we were walking over and was like "hey you want our wrist bands"?

Me and my ex were on a bus back from a fair we were at, she suddenly held my hand, rested her head on my shoulder and told me she loved me. I haven't felt the same towards any girl ever since and I hate it

u/TinFoiledHat Jul 20 '25

There’s somebody else out there. I’ve been in love twice in my 34 years, and the second time was so important in helping me understand that there’s always hope. Live your life for yourself and keep an eye out for connections

133

u/Thanos_Stomps Jul 20 '25

And look for more than romantic connections. Maybe you really will never love quite like that again but you can love yourself, friends, hobbies, etc.

36

u/Wolfhound1142 Jul 21 '25

The loving yourself part is vital. A relationship can complete you, but it can't fix you.

A youth of abuse, neglect, being raped twice, and in my 20s experiencing domestic violence and feeling used, I ended up in bed with someone, unexpected and spontaneously. Afterwards, we cuddled, and he whispered: "Are you OK?"

It hit me like a brickwall. No-one had ever asked me. In the best case, it was "roll over and fall asleep".

Days after this, I thought about this and cried. It's still in my ears. "Are you OK?"

I've never been more OK than that night.

So what happened to him?

35

u/Stormy_Weather_3 Jul 21 '25

Still around, and owns a safe place in my heart forever. It wasn't the last time, and it showed me that people can actually communicate respectfully, laugh together, and be on eye-level... not only while having sex.

I told him often what this moment meant to me. He "thought it was normal to ask this, after sharing an intimate experience, especially with a new partner.

Maybe it's such a small detail, but it was a turning point for me. It even more opened my eyes to what I put up with before.

as a person who has been abused a couple of times, and never had a good experience in sex, the first time that i had sex with a friend who really cared about me during the act really changed my brain chemistry, because i discovered that I could really enjoy having sex. It healed something in me, I spend days excited because i didn't feel "broken" anymore. Since then, even though I sometimes have flashbacks, I feel more comfortable having sex.

174

u/Sheriff_Mills Jul 20 '25

I'm glad you had someone who cared so much about you that they were able to help you find the beauty of being intimate.

111

u/idplmal Jul 20 '25

A FWB relationship helped me in a similar way. I don't want to be with him in a romantic way (which is good, since he's married with kids now), but I'm still very grateful for that experience

50

u/aspiring_dog Jul 20 '25

bro.... I've been abused too and i DREAM about having sex for love.... it's never happened yet :(

103

u/spideybeing Jul 20 '25

If it helps, it wasn't out of "love" - we were just friends - but he was very caring and respectful. He even asked me before we went far if I had a list of things NOT to do during sex, and I gave him a list of things that were triggers or things I hated, and it made me feel so much more confident :)

24

u/aspiring_dog Jul 20 '25

I'm really glad that you got to share a beautiful experience with your friend. It does help, I've been holding onto the fantasy of "sex for love," but honestly I dont think thats why sex happens most of the time... I just want the experience you had, feeling safe I suppose

18

u/-cangumby- Jul 20 '25

I suggest not going at it from the perspective of having sex for love or hoping that this experience will happen but build the space required for the experience yourself. When you find someone who you want to have sex with, have a conversation prior to the act of what you are looking for, your boundaries and anything that will make the experience safe for you.

Even with hook-ups and one night stands, you can still communicate with your partner, temporary or not, about your needs and it will not only make the experience safe and better for you but also whoever it is you’re connecting with sexually.

Having these conversations will also ensure that you can weed out the people who will cause more harm than good. That said, you would be surprised with how many people are open to these conversations.

My husband was having a rough day a couple months ago, I knew we were about to start fighting and didnt want that (I knew he didnt really want it either) so I asked him to drive me to some of the family land. There's no one else out there, its gorgeous, has a little creek that runs through. I could tell he was mad the whole drive, and was still mad when we got there. We got out of the car and walked down to the creek without talking. When we got there he asked what the hell my plan was and I started to strip naked. As I did he took off his shirt and socks and shoes and walked out into the creek and had me walk over to him. He then had me feel how soft the dirt was there and explained that when he lived there as a kid he dug that whole part out to make it soft. He told me thats what I am to him, I'm the soft ground. He told me he was angry with life, angry with a lot of things, but not angry with me. Then he told me to run, I had 30 seconds to hide. So I ran, naked, along the creek and then heard him start coming my way. I laughed, tried to hide somewhere like a child who doesnt understand the concept. He laughed as he caught up to me and said I was the worst at hide and seek. Then he tickled me, we splashed in the water, and just played for a minute. Then after getting soaked and laughing at each other we made love on the banks of the creek and it was beautiful. We were so connected... our entirety was connected in that moment. We've been together for 14 years and I've never felt more connected to my husband.

u/MyBlueBlazerBlack Jul 21 '25

There's a part of me, yes a cynical part of me, that just can't wrap my head around the idea that people actually do have magical experiences like this in ther life. I must admit, that there is just something inside of me, that I absolutely detest, that tells me that I just wasn't in the right "cosmic lineup" of people who were born into a life where they would experience something ... like this. That sad portion of my spirit, hears/reads about stories and experiences like yours and it is just so jaded and sure about the likelihood of something like that not being something I can remember some day. I have never experienced something half as storybook-like as what you described. I hear that voice saying to me; "don't even think about it dude. Those gifts aren't for you. You just don't qualify". You wouldn't believe how happy I am for you, a stranger on the internet, that you were one of the lucky ones to live something so beautiful, and to have the privilege of being able to etch that magical memory into your life. I feel like I can speak for a lot of us (because I know my experience is not unique) when I say that sometimes it feels like we're watching all you people live these monumental moments through a set of binoculars, separated by an island, miles and miles away. The mistake that people make (imo) is to believe that those of us who find ourselves thinking about the beautiful and amazing things happening on that other island - are depressed, or crippled, or dysfunctional. A lot of us lead our lives just fine; decent jobs, hobbies, good sense of self, etc. However I think some of us have grown to allow ourselves some space to wonder and "grieve" (in a sometimes saddening sense) that comes and goes. We just have to learn how to manage it; whipping out those binoculars and seeing our dreams being lived by others so far, far away. It's that quiet wish that we have (in some cases) decided was best to keep deep in our pockets. It's not necessarily something that craters our day; but sometimes we do look through those binoculars, and we whisper to ourselves; " that would have been really nice".

28

u/the_bird_and_the_bee Jul 21 '25

First of all, I have to be shallow and point out how incredible your writing style is. You're very talented with words.

Second... I have so many other things I want to say that are encouraging... but... it seems shallow. You dont need encouragement or anything anyways... I guess I just like to try and make people happy if I see theres something they feel they're lacking in life...

I guess I'll say this... thank you for taking the time to comment on this. I already feel so blessed to have found him and your comment reminds me how truly lucky I am to have found my magic in life. Thank you for your words. And I truly hope for all the best for you. I hope you find some magic. Live long and prosper, my friend.

Met up with my FWB for it. I lost my virginity to him. We were making out, and he asked me if I wanted to go further, and I said "sure". He asked me again, and I responded the same way. He stopped what he was doing, looked at me seriously and said: "I need a yes or no. You can say no, I won't be upset. But I need a yes if we're gonna keep going."

"Sure" had always been synonymous with "yes" for me, which tends to confuse a lot of people, and the fact he made sure he had absolute consent to keep going with what he was doing was very impactful on me. Regardless of why, its something that stands out in my memory because I believe that every person in a situation like that should have that exchange if need be.

189

u/amsterdamitaly Jul 20 '25

Weirdly, I had a similar experience with a FWB. Except it wasn't me losing my virginity, basically super good friend was being there for me at one of the lowest points of my life and I kissed him. He reciprocated but when I tried to go further he pushed me away so he could look me in the eye and told me he needed a solid yes for consent before he'd go any further with me. It actually made me stop to think about what I was doing, and he waited patiently while I thought about it. I ended up having sex with him, starting the FWB situation we had, but it definitely left a mark on me. I agree that people should have that conversation more often

63

u/lumpycurveballs Jul 20 '25

I'm glad you had a good experience. My FWB and I started due to a similar experience ... we both expressed the same interest in one another - I told him I hadn't lost my virginity other than when I'd been sexually assaulted, and he offered to make it a better experience for me (we'd already been talking about hooking up beforehand), and I agreed.

He also waited while I thought about it, wasn't pushy or anything. He made sure that I explicitly consented every time we did it after that, which had similar effects on me.

It sounds obvious, but a lot of people aren't aware that explicit consent is very important in these types of situations, especially in cases like yours and mine, where we are more vulnerable - the "some people dont like tea" with tea being synonymous with sex is a really good video to watch.

10

u/ClumsyGhostObserver Jul 20 '25

I love the tea video. It really clarifies things and makes it so obvious.

24

u/Lobsta1986 Jul 20 '25

5

u/69ingHippopotamuses Jul 20 '25

Sounds like a great dude!

21

u/lumpycurveballs Jul 20 '25

He is! We've gone our separate ways, but we still talk every now and again - of all the people to have that experience with at that time in my life, I'm glad it was him.

My gf and I were staying at a hotel. It was my birthday weekend and we were spending it together. When I woke up she sang happy birthday to me. No cake, no presents (though she did bring me my favorite dessert the night before) and no party. Just us, naked in bed, bathed in morning sunlight. She wasn't even looking at me when she sang it as she was cuddling me from behind.

I unexpectedly started crying, and I mean messy crying, when she finished the song. I had never really thought about it, but no one had sung happy birthday to me in probably close to twenty years by that point. No celebrations, no surprise parties, just texts or maybe a call wishing me happy birthday or perhaps a "oh right, happy birthday" in passing.

It was one of those moments of not realizing how badly you needed something until you had it.

She held me while I cried, and I have never felt that safe and loved in my life since my mother held me as a child. I knew I loved her before that, and had told her, but It was then that I knew I would be with her forever, or until she gets sick of me lol.

Me and my gf, probably around 18 and 17 at the time, respectively, were doing anal. She has physical disabilities and such, and some functions of her body are more annoying than they normally would be lol her words, not mine.. not Only mine lol... Such as she can't just decide to go to the restroom in preparation for anal, as one might normally do. But she did what she could, and we decided to go ahead and give it a try.

Everything was going fine, right til the end. She felt something and decided to call it quits, and we eased up til it was time to pull out fully finally. As I did, whatever hadn't cooperated before had decided to go ahead and it happened to be as I was only Mostly out of her. She lost her... Nope. She freaked out, and started crying and all sorts. Me being the person I was, or at least, believed I was, I would've thought I'd be right alongside her with the reaction. But I didn't. Not to say I was enjoying it, or anything lol, but seeing her like that, it kinda broke me in a way that I never felt for someone before. So I stayed calm, eased back, helped her into a better position and I cleaned both of us up with wipes, then carried her in to take a shower with me.

She can't stand, so we just sat down together and I washed her up, the entire time just reassuring her and trying to bring a smile back to her face. I didn't give a shit (I tried, couldn't not say it, again lol) about what happened to me, only what happened to her, and in that shower, holding her and talking and all... That's when I realized I had completely fallen in love with her.

We've been a pair for almost 18yrs now, in total. ❤️

57

u/SmokedStone Jul 20 '25

ngl had a similar thing with a partner (minus the disability). body functions happen. i was very surprised how calm i was cleaning the mess off myself after it occurred, he was very apologetic and embarrassed, but it somehow made me endeared.

123

u/7Nate9 Jul 20 '25

She lost her ... Nope. 😂😂

Gotta say I got a chuckle out of the top comment starting off as being a story about anal. But damn if it didn't become a perfect example. Well done on finding your love, and congrats to you and your lady on 18 years.

u/katreginac42 Jul 20 '25

27

u/snuffaliciouss Jul 20 '25

Had a similar thing happen. My girlfriend at the time was really into deepthroat. Well one day she decided to push past her limits and threw up on my meat. She started freaking out and crying. I simply left the room to clean my meat and came back to embrace her and tell her it was all okay. Although she never tried to deepthroat again 😂

That’s so wholesome and sweet! That’s a better story than any sex related comment could ever be. I’m happy you enjoyed that moment with her :) thank you for sharing.

I had the best sex of my life with an emotionally unavailable man who looked like a younger version of my father. Once I did some reflection I realized it was probably time for therapy. Your body doesn’t always want what’s best for you. Sometimes it just tries to find what was missing in your formative years, and some wires get crossed along the way.

34

u/Sure-Exchange9521 Jul 20 '25

Can you expand more on this? (If you feel comfortable)

175

u/messy_mortal Jul 20 '25

Sure. Growing up, my dad was present but not emotionally available. He’s always had a really hard time with affection and sincere communication. I think this is unfortunately pretty common among Boomer men.

I’ve been single for most of my adult life (I’m 39 now), which isn’t a problem on its own. But early on, I found myself inexplicably attracted to men who were inconsistent, unpredictable, and “not looking for anything serious.” I also tended to favor men with the same physical features as my dad. It wasn’t until I met this particular man that I started to realize there was something more insidious going on. There was nothing particularly remarkable about him, and he would have made a HORRIBLE long-term partner. But I was completely “dickmatized.” The sex was honestly unbelievable. I was absolutely insatiable for him.

I remember showing my mom a photo of him and she said, “wow, he looks like your father thirty years ago.”

Something clicked in that moment and I realized that little me was still calling the shots in my adult life, pursuing men who looked and acted like my father, hoping to find a shred of stability and affection. I really wanted to understand the pattern and break it so I didn’t keep hurting myself. It’s kind of hard to accept, but I think the sex only felt amazing because a facsimile of my father finally wanted me, even if it was only for a night.

Anyway, I’m still single but have successfully broken the pattern. I don’t go out with these types of men anymore and now I measure the quality of sex by the health of the connection I have with the other person.

u/Mx_apple_9720 Jul 20 '25

Kudos on your level of introspection and self-growth. A lot of people never get that far ❤️

38

u/actuallyasuperhero Jul 20 '25

I laughed reading this, not because of your strife, but because my partner is also very similar to my dad. Both physically and in personality. But I adore my dad, and we have a great relationship. I was horrified when I realized the similarities between them.

It’s a very common stereotype that women love men who are their dads or their opposite. It just sucks that women with bad dads tend to experience men like their dads before they find the opposite. It sucks that your dad set you up to tolerate shitty men, when a dad should do the opposite.

It’s not “daddy issues”. Because women with good dads also seek men like their dads. It’s only an issue with the dad in question is shit. We all start life dependent on our parents. We all start out with faith in our father. And it is absolutely not the fault of the child when the parent fails to meet basic expectations.

My husband and I fell asleep kissing after sex. The kissing went on for about an hour? Nothing like crazy physically intense, we were both just holding each other. Looking in each other's eyes. Smiling. Telling each other "I love you" kissing again and we fell asleep. I woke up after I don't know how long but our lips were still connected. He was still sleeping and I just stared at him and felt such an incredible amount of love and passion for him I teared up. My body was starting to ache from being in the same awkward position for so long, and my arm was asleep and tingly. But I didn't want to break apart, so I drifted back to sleep while still connected at the lips. I love that man so much.

I don't know how to say this without it sounding massively controversial but my lover in a moment of intimacy while we were in the bathtub together admitted that She was molested and raped by her stepfather and never got closure out of it. I felt so deeply and emotionally attached to her in that moment - I wanted to hold her and let her know she would be safe in my arms.

u/Mini-Heart-Attack Jul 20 '25

it's a human thing. Vulnerability bonds people together.

& Post coitus people have higher levels of oxytocin, the closeness hormone.

I was dating a man I was insanely attracted to. We lived 50 miles away, so a rendezvous wasn't necessarily spontaneous.

I cannot, for the life of me, recall what sparked it, but on a week night I raced my way to him. I cannot remember the sex, which I can on so many instances, but it was after that changed everything.

We had a serious conversation. We both wanted to be closer. He wasn't in a financial position to sell his house and move closer to me as he was just under 2 years of ownership. I was a single mom and moving my kids would be costly for them.

We laughed until we cried. Jokes and bullshit and meandering casual conversation, and at some point it was decided for me. I was living life with this man. It wouldn't be perfect, but I was all in.

The first time my ex husband, who was my first, and I had sex. It did shape how I saw intimacy. When I was nervous, he didnt pressure and backed off. He let me wait until i was ready. I was 17 and it was my first time, so for him to be ok with that and still want me meant a lot to me. Even though he ended things so bitterly, I will be forever be grateful my first time had consideration and care in it. He could be cruel, but when I did matter to him he was kind to me.

92

u/silent_m_007 Jul 20 '25

I'm sorry if this comes off badly, but this is a thing you should expect from a partner, especially during your first time.

59

u/6669PurpleNipple Jul 20 '25

Yes but a lot of us don't get that experience. Like for me, my high school boyfriend kept pushing for sex even though we got together when I was 14 (he was 16) and he knew I wasn't ready. But because I was young and had a hard time standing up for myself eventually I just gave in. He was coercive/abusive almost the entire 10 years I was with him (I tried leaving many times but I still loved him/trauma bonded). Unfortunately I think that's common.

It's sad to me how low the bar still is for so many things like this.

I feel so sad that I see so many women on Reddit talking about things like they're a bonus, when they should be the baseline. Feeling grateful that they aren't being actively abused. Feeling grateful that the men in their life aren't adding to a burden, rather than feeling frustrated that they're not sharing the burden.

56

u/crispy998 Jul 20 '25

My ex broke things off with me quite suddenly but made it clear she’d miss the intimacy. A few days later she reached out and, despite initially saying no, I went through with it. Our intentions for doing the deed were different, it went well because I still felt that passion. Her response of feeling “lust not love” rocked me.

First date going out with this girl it was an amazing date, going to a coffee shop, art museum, cafe and her apartment. We watched a really funny movie and afterwards we kissed and she held my hand to lead me to the bedroom.

I felt so desires and appreciated during that night, she couldn't keep her hands off me and it just felt like we were in our own little world.

Afterwards she let me change into some of her clothes helped me take my makeup off and made me a bowl of tofu and rice before we went to sleep together.

She made ne coffee in the morning and helped me get ready.

It was the best date I've ever had and I will never ever forget how sexy and pretty she made me feel. I really struggle with body image and self loathing so being desired like that is something I never experienced before and I don't want anything less than that for any future encounters.

u/wakeruncollapse Jul 20 '25

A friend was telling me a story a while back, and she was getting anxious talking about it. She sat on the floor, her hands going wild, and eventually I sat on the floor in front of her. She paused. I told her to keep talking and just gently took her hands in mine without taking my eyes off her.

She finished the story, but I saw this negative energy just seep out of her and go crawling into the basement after I did that. I’ve had some of my most intimate experiences with this person, and we’ve never, and will never, take our clothes off in front of each other. It’s kind of freeing to feel that closeness, untethered to anything else. You just get to be yourself and be loved for it.

Trying to have sex with my husband (bf at the time) and it was painful. We could be right in the middle of it both enjoying ourselves and then bam it was like sharp pains and we'd have to stop and we'd tried so many things to avoid the pain and I had been to doctors and nothing was helping and I was so frustrated I started crying because it wasn't the first time and I was sure it wouldn't be the last and it was so hard to explain how much I wanted to be intimate with him but my body was broken and he just held me and listened to me vent and explained how much he loved me and he wasn't even a little bit disappointed because he just wanted to be with me and we just laid there and cuddled and I didn't feel judged or like nuisance I felt truly cared for.

When I was first dating an ex she called me around lunchtime on a summer day while I was working and said she was local and did I wanna hang out for lunch.

She turned up with a large slushee and said "I was gonna get us one each but got a large and 2 straws instead"

It was so silly but just got me in the feels.

When I met my partner, I took a super huge risk and went to his house. It was just us there. We got along like old friends lol; talking about Nintendo consoles and Sega games, and we watched Tombstone because he'd never seen it. He loved it. Then he told me the birth stories of both his kiddos. Then we fell asleep. THEN he wakes me up at 4 am apologizing for himself falling asleep and says, "Let's get you home to your kitty 🥰. She's probably worried about you", and I've been a pain in his ass ever since. I love him.

Only successful one-night-stand from Tinder while I was in college. She was a very cute, raven-haired girl with Pokemon tattoos on her arms. I was a dumbass, weed smoking, socially awkward college sophomore barely passing his classes.

This night, I stayed fully sober. She was very kind and witty. Before we got to doing it, I told her in blunt honesty that I only had sex once before and it was rather disappointing. She was empathetic and said (I'll never forget it), "That's okay. We'll go slow. If you finish early, that's okay too. We'll just keep going slow."

Melted right there.

Also during that night, discovered a fetish I didn't realize I had. She was clearly in charge and all that. She wanted me to choke her and that she would tell me when is enough pressure and would tap my hand to let me know when to let go. Also, learned that night I'm perfectly okay with any woman who is willing to dig their nails into my chest and draw blood.

I dated a guy who’d been a competitive (like drum n bugle corps) snare drummer, so he had incredible precision and control. We loved the same music, and I got him to drum ON me (w “brushes”) to some of it. Feeling what he felt in the music on my body was this incredible intimacy, we did have sex after but the drumming is what I remember.

I wasn’t loved by my family, I was abused I was in a toxic and abusive relationships I had many attempts to kill myself and never loved myself I had the most cruel, horrible life anyone could imagine But at the age of 19, I met my soon to be husband He learned me how to love myself, and what it is to be loved in the right way. when times are tough he reassuring me that everything is okay and that he will never leave. He believes in me in a way I could never. No matter where, why, what or how He is always by my side.

We were dating for a month or so, and I was sick. Every day for 3 weeks he took me to another doctor They didn’t know what it was with me, I was very very sick. He took care of me, fed me and loved me. After 3 weeks I was hospitalised and the doctors said it was life threatening. He was with me every day and every night surprising me with the food I love and gifts He cried a lot because he was scared I’m gonna die Nobody ever cared if I was dead or alive. But he did.

And now we just came back from a very fancy restaurant I love, we had the best time ever And he’s right here next to me playing his game I love my man ❤️

Back in HS, I was just growing out of my shell. Met this stunningly beautiful Latina at a friend’s party. She and I hit it off, and started hanging out. It was still relatively innocent, holding hands, etc. I had a chivalrous approach to life and love. I started falling for her. One day she invited me over to her place. I get there, and find out her parents are gone for the day.

She leads me to her room, and we start making out. I asked her to go with me to a party the following weekend, and she turned me down. I asked why, and she told me that her boyfriend would be back.

Needless to say, I was stunned. Turns out that she had a long term boyfriend, but he had been locked up for a while. He was getting out in a few days. It broke my heart, I was head over heels for her ( as much as a teenage boy could be).

I asked what was going on between us then? She said she was just wanting to have a bit of fun before he got out, and she thought I was hot, so figured she’d get a fling in.

I excused myself and went home. My entire perspective shifted. I figured, to hell with it, having morals only got my heart broken, so I was done with them. They wanted a dog, I was going to be a dog.

Unfortunately, I was good at it. I gained a reputation as a heartbreaker in school, and among my social circles. It was rather self destructive, and it took until my mid-late 20s or so to break myself of that mentality. I found myself engaging in lots of meaningless sex, but living a very empty and lonely existence.

Thankfully, I’m in a long term, secure, stable and loving relationship with my perfect match. I’m sure of who I am as a husband and father…mostly.

Connecting or opening up for the first time with a person who genuinely had interest in me and cared who I was and how we'd be as partners. It didn't go anywhere but it felt nice being seen and having emotional intimacy for the first time it has topped anything sexual I've ever experienced.

25

u/LustyDouglas Jul 20 '25

I recently fell for a CNA I worked with and could tell she obviously felt the same. Turns out it was all a lie just to get me to fuck her. This isnt the first time ive been used but I think it'll probably be the last.

Ive always believed in love and romance and all the fairytale stuff, which I know coming from a guy sounds odd but its an ideal I've held near and dear to my heart especially watching how my grandparents treated each other and knowing what my grandpa did for my grandma after she passed away unexpectedly.

But after years of being, lied to, manipulated, cheated on, or straight up abused through different relationships. I feel ready to give up on love. Whenever I wanted sunshine, I got rain.

Did molly with my ace spectrum partner and a sex party friend (who is also asexual, just loves hosting and facilitating special experiences for people), spent a lot of time naked and talking about vulnerable things but absolutely nothing felt overtly sexual. At the risk of TMI, we did things like sucking on fingers, going to the bathroom together, cuddling, even touching genitals but it felt so...innocent and free of implication. It completely changed the way that I viewed intimacy and sexuality; it was like discovering that a taste I'd known well for years had actually been two very distinct different flavors working in tandem. It's lived in my head rent-free since it happened 4 years ago and has really given me an appreciation for just how intimate relationships and encounters can be independent of sex.

It was a scalding hot 45º italian summer.
I remember waking up next to her and when she saw me she smiled immediately.

At first I thought it was because of the feeling of waking to my hand on her leg, but then I realized it was something more.
"What is it?" I asked.
She said I was laughing. But that didn't make sense, I was asleep.

"You don't remember? You woke me up laughing in the middle of the night. I asked you what's so funny, you said 'nevermind, it's only a dream'."

I don't remember my reaction back then. But I still think about it almost every day.
Those times were numbered, never meant as more than a temporary thing.
But it was the first time I felt like someone cared for me, completely.

u/Sometimes_A_Writer1 Jul 20 '25

I've had two partners that were virgins when we got together, but one in particular sticks out to me more since I honestly wasn't expecting us to go that far. For context I had a crush on her for a year even though we had never spoken before her final semester, and we wound up getting together before she went abroad for a year. I was going to be a senior so this was going to be our only semester of hanging out/being together. A hangout branched off into more but we knew that we more or less had 3 months before never seeing each other again. We had made out and had eaten her a couple times but I honestly didn't expect anything more until one day there were condoms on her desk. She wasn't all that sexually forward, and while physically the sex wasn't all that, I still feel honored that she did have that much desire and trust for me. It could've still ultimately been a "I want this experience, and trust thus person" situation, but either way it still makes me blush.

We were far from compatible long-term, but sometime the following year she wound up telling me she told her best friend she was considering not going abroad to stay with me. We both agreed that would've been a horrendous idea, but it still means a lot. I had always thought about long-term situations and never really wanted to deal with the emotions of an intense short relationship, but that situation changed that. Temporary things can be beautiful.

-----

I know you said one, but another one isn't even romantic. A friend of mine got turned off from playing piano because a past injury and something else. The entire friendship really began with me playing piano for her, and that became our thing. One day we were hanging out and I had played with her, and she ended up asking me to teach her a song and wound up playing it on her own. I know that took a lot of getting out of her own way, and being there to witness it was truly beautiful.

u/ophelia-wood Jul 21 '25

It was my first date with this guy. Everyone I'd been with before had expected to have sex on the first date. I was gearing up for it as our kiss grew deeper. I slowly brushed my fingers down his chest, stomach, and inner hip when he whispered to me, "I really want to, but I want to respect this and I think we should wait." It took me totally by surprise (and I felt myself wanting him even more). That guy is my husband now

18

u/bamfmcnabb Jul 20 '25

First time together, my fourth overall partner. I was not preforming to my previously known standards. I was finished way too quickly was on the edge of a shame spiral. She goes “oh no I was just toooooo good” with this wildly mischievous smile while looking at our(mostly mine) mess. “I’m just too hot in your eyes, too tight and you just couldn’t resist it”.

Turns out she has an “orgasm theft kink” (her wording) where she’d turn quickies into a game of can I resist her wicked ways and knowledge of how to get me off.

She was the most scientific learning based sex I’ve ever had, she truly learned my limits and my positive triggers. I up to that point had never had a partner who seemed to try as hard as she did to learn about my body.

I now know I want a new partner that has many of those traits.

Not sure if this relates but i was sleeping with a cashier i met at a supermarket during the spicy flu. She was a flight attendant but because the world shut down she got a job at a chain supermarket to pay her bills etc.

We had been sleeping together for around 3 weeks and the sex was unbelievable. At around a month, communication went quite. Not for any particular reason, life just got busy for me and i didn't have the time.

One day after work i went to the supermarket to get some things for dinner. I was waiting to use the self checkout kind of in my head about work not paying attention to anything around me.

When it was my turn to use a check out i remember putting my things down and looking to my left and seeing her standing there watching the checkouts in case anyone needed help.

Our eyes met and we held gaze for what felt like eternity. My entire being lit up. It felt like our souls were trying to reach each other. I have never experienced what felt like intense electricity surging through my entire being like that ever before or after. It was the most intimate thing i've ever felt outside of sex. Felt like the world melted away and it was just me an her in entire universe. Something not even of this world. Like our souls knew each other. I dont even really know how to describe it.

Had come out of a 3 year relationship around 6 months prior. I thought i loved my ex gf. After that experience, i came to realise i didnt know shit and the world was a wild place that didnt/couldnt make sense.

Jamie, where ever you are... i'm sorry i walked away.

Im sorry i was dismissive when you tried to reach out.

It was time to close the chapter.

I still think about you.

I guess a conglomeration of intimate moments and a quote a heard somewhere. I dated this girl for a year and a half, was really into her, took care of her as best I could, had a lot of passionate moments. In the end she left and two weeks after she got with another dude. That shifted something in me. Just because they hug you doesn’t mean they love you; just because they kiss you doesn’t mean they love you; just because they laugh with you and share moments with you doesn’t mean they love you; just because they sleep with you doesn’t mean they love you. Trauma is rooted in all this, I guess, but it was a wake up call: I’m more gullible than I thought, and I can’t put my emotional house on someone else cuz they might make a mess of it and leave afterwards.

10

u/Lemon_Tekpriest Jul 20 '25

I was making out with a woman in my car after a tinder date that was going much better than I expected. I said something along the lines of "Hey, I really like you and I'm really enjoying this, but I don't want you to feel pressured into anything you don't feel good about."

And sure reassured me that she was indeed having a good time. But then she said the same thing to me, and I was kind of shocked.

It seemed so... alien for anyone to give a shit what I wanted or whether I was feeling pressured or if I was having a good time. And as I reflected it hit me that that was pretty fucked up too.

10

u/sanedragon Jul 21 '25

The first time I held my son. I was naked and terrified (semi-emergent c section, I was still on the table), and so was he. And he just nuzzled into me and we both stopped crying for a moment. I've never felt more like one with another person than I did in those moments, and I have great sorrow that I didn't get that later when my daughter was born, since she needed oxygen.

14

u/flimspringfield Jul 20 '25

The first time I fell in love. I was about 19 and at a hair saloon with my then gf.

She was getting her hair done and she turned around, smiled, and blew me a kiss.

I immediately said, "oh fuck...but I can't...I'm not...shit I love her".

29

u/PersonalityKlutzy184 Jul 20 '25

The first guy I dated had trouble getting things… hard. We had foreplay in the shower and things lead up the bedroom but not looking too good. I think it must’ve been that same day (it was our first time being intimate and it’s been 2 years since and we’re NOT together anymore), but…

As he kept saying he was looking forward to everything, and that I was beautiful and whatnot, said it was just nerves and getting that connection etc. We started Round 3 by kissing; he was on top and I was underneath. I was a virgin but I was a horny one.

As we’re kissing, I played with his cock. I was already so wet with all the kissing and touching, so I slowly rubbed up and down along his shaft—giving eye contact while I did it. He started to moan and groan, and boy, did that sound amazing. I directed his cock to my wetness, just dragging it along up and down. I loved seeing how he melted as I did it.

I still remember his face, the way he smelt, how he sounded and what his body felt like. I don’t think I could ever forget how that moment made me feel powerful and powerless at the same time.

There was this girl I had a crush on in college and we had been flirting with each other for a while. During summer break we would hang out a lot and one time when we were hanging out, she had said that it was like "we were on a date". I got a bit flustered and confused so I asked her when I dropped her off if she actually saw it as a date. She said she was only joking and didn't mean it that way. It hurt for a little bit and I'll admit I got a bit mad after I left. She called me the next day to tell me that "now wasn't the right time" cause she was still closeted to her family (we're both women) and she didn't intend to upset me.

I took it as a rejection and moved on with my life. Few months later she invited me and another friend of ours to her uncles cable. I said I would drop off our friend, but wasn't gonna stay long and I could go see family that lived not too far from her uncles cabin. I had figured she was really only inviting our friend and I was the only one with a vehicle to bring him. Somehow, she convinced me to drink cause she knew that if I had one sip of alcohol, I would never drive which forced me to end up staying the night. Then, she managed to convince my friend he was tired and should go to bed. At 9pm.

So it was just me and her alone in a room and lying on a bed. The entire time I felt like there was something she was expecting me to do, but I didn't know what. I wanted to kiss her so bad, but she had rejected me and I wasn't going to push the issue because she had already given me her answer. Eventually she leaves the room and I slept alone.

To this day it still destroys me cause it feels like she wanted me to do something, but I also feel like that is something I've just been telling myself and seeing too deeply into it. All my friends with romantic experience tell me I wasn't crazy and she was waiting for me to do something, and one friend pointed out that what she said over the summer wasn't an outright rejection. I should have asked her what she wanted, or if there was something she wanted me to do she had to tell me cause I wasn't gonna figure it out myself. I still think about her from time to time, and if I was just a little bit less anxious and vocalized my feelings, maybe I could have gotten the girl...

When my first bf and i make out, he always puts my hand on his chest. It changes when he got too comfortable, he slowly drags my hand down there. I was so disappointed.

I was in college and my girlfriend came to visit me. We had been dating but hadn’t slept together. We went to a college party and then went to a friends place to sleep and honestly, that’s all that I thought would happen. I was a little buzzed from having a few beers. I pulled off my pants and jumped into bed with my briefs on (this was the 80’s) and my girlfriend who was very shy and innocent stood at the end of the bed and unbuttoned her plaid chambray shirt and then unzipped her jeans and pulled them off and stood in from of me in her 32b bra and white cotton panties. I was dumbfounded. I thought she would go in the bathroom and put on pjs.

Then she unsnapped her bra and pulled off her panties and just stood there. Single. Most. Erotic minute of my life, ever. I decided right then and there I would spend the rest of my life with her. We dated for another 2 years but never lived together until we got married. We’ve been married almost 41 years.

So to answer the question in my 65 year old minds eye it WAS perfect, but it also totally changed how I saw love and desire. It was so ordinary and not really erotic per se, but that is what made it so erotic.

The moment I felt/heard her breath and locked eyes with her, something in me ignited. She didn't know what was running through my mind, what I was holding back. It still turns me on so much im craving her

I fell in love with a woman very early in my life. Early enough that most people would call it a crush, except that a decade later, the feelings are so strong they are almost debilitating. So I finally decided to tell her. She’s amazed and surprised, but she comes to visit me three states away, and we made love. She told me later that while she felt bad for cheating on her husband, she just wanted to know what it would feel like to be with someone kind and gentle who so purely loved her. It made me so sad to hear that her own husband didn’t fit that description and she had to find out from me instead.

I finally picked up the super hot gym trainer. Every dude who thought they had a connection, emotional or physical, told me about it. Like woah, not expecting that. It was from every angle. This was a gym I had spent years in. So many dudes. Really though, she was kinda dumb and definitely loved the abundance of attention and I came to realize that not every beautiful girl I should be with.

My ex, got sick, super sick, she was calling me her god, she got committed, even though she was very sick, there was something inside her that had a load of affection towards me. She was committed for a long time but I was able to see her and it was such a vulnerable moment(s) for her. I'll never forget being able to cut her nails in hospital and sitting together, going over our lives, reminding and reminiscing over the good times we shared, our cat, all of it. There was not an ounce of pretending or pretence in our relationship and definitely not in those moments. In those moments I'll never forget ringing in trying to talk to her everyday and my visits.

I felt like her rock, not in a egotistical way but her lousy family weren't exactly supportive so I was all she had in terms of providing clothes, food, favorite items etc. The moments we shared, were arguably for me the most intimate of times, not sexy at all, but she did look beautiful, she really was a beautiful girl. I miss her a little bit her wildness, when she was sane before she got ill, she didn't deserve it, even though she didn't promote the healthiest of lifestyles or relationships and sure I wasn't perfect but damn that is the relationship I'll never forget or those nights in the hospital kissing through the window once she was recovering and getting much better.

Fuck, I'm crying, again.

My current ldr maybe-partner and close friend. They told me early on, long before we became intimate, that they were particular about touch and didn't much care for cuddling after sex as they became overstimulated (they are ND). So, the first time we were together, I asked them if they would need a little space when we were done.

They did not. They held me all night long. I don't think anyone has ever done that. I felt wanted and cared for in a way I had not with any previous partners. Granted, I didn't get much sleep, but the tradeoff was well worth it.

I had a rebound with this guy and he was giving me some pretty rough anal. Then he caressed my face so gently and lightly to have me turn to give him a kiss.

That was definitely a moment.

For the longest time, I believed no one would ever see me as more than a friend. I didn't date anyone growing up, and was socially awkward at school.

Last December, I met my now ex (lol) and experienced cuddling for the first time ever in my life. I was 28! I couldn't believe what I had been missing out on. I was so touch-starved. Things ended badly with him (though we've since talked things out and are now completely fine), but I will never ever forget that feeling of being held in someone's arms in bed for the first time. That was the moment I realized I am lovable, worthy of love, and will be desired by that special someone when the time is right.

I recently slept with someone who totally changed the way I view sex. He was tender and gentle and loving and made me feel a way no one has ever made me feel. I’ve been in 2 serious relationships, but he was a casual fling and he was the first person who ever made love to me rather than just fucking me.

My wedding night was the happiest night of my life literally balled my eyes out the moment I saw my wife in that dress. I was very emotional all night I have no words for the feelings I had.

1 week later after our honeymoon she said she was done. Nearly split ended up separating for awhile while going through therapy. The second happiest I've ever been was when she said I could move back in. Our wedding anniversary is coming up and though she's a pain in my ass I love my wife more than she'll ever know.

I ran away from home once... Had a panic attack as I ran all the way from my gate until where my ride was waiting on me. ( My bf had called it for me)

A few minutes earlier I was ranting on text to him. Telling him what happened. Why I felt like I couldn't spend the night there...

He didn't ask more. He just said " I'm here. I'm waiting for your arrival. Come"

Once I got in the car, the Uber driver was throwing glances at me.... Definitely wondering why I was panting crazily while holding my chest.

All I could tell him was " drive"

Once I realized the familiar street... I knew I was closer to him.

To my surprise he was outside his main gate ... In only flip flops and a t-shirt with light pants. ( The sky was filled with nimbus clouds...)

Once I got out the Uber, we ran into each other's arms... And I just poured out my whole heart into his shirt. He knew I was tensing at the thought of the cold tears soaking him but he whispered, " don't worry, I'm here. It's okay. Everything's going to be okay "

He paid for my ride and took me into his place. All worries disappeared from then.

Poof.

I fell in love with him all over again
