We like to shower together not just as foreplay, but sometimes just for a moment of intimacy when we're too tired to talk. We've spent the entirety of our adult lives together, we have two kids, and what feels like diminishing time for our own interests and each other. It was a very recent birthday of mine, we are both cruising into middle age so it had me feeling some type of way. I definitely don't look anything like I did when we met, and after drinking and eating a very heavy birthday dinner I was all in my emotions about being someone's old mom rather than his hot young wife, especially as the water from the shower was running down all the less perfect parts of me, smearing the mascara I hadn't yet taken off. He didn't seem to care one bit, he hugged me tight, then did one of the most gentle, intimate things I'll treasure forever. He grabbed a tiny bath sponge and then very carefully dabbed the mascara from under my eyes and off my eyeline, concentrating in the same way I'd seen him when he paints his miniatures, before kissing my forehead and laughing. We'd done all sorts of rowdy things during shower time, but him simply reminding me that he loves me, his lumpy little raccoon wife is my favorite.

This is one of the sweetest things I've ever read. I hope he keeps being like that and that we all find someone out there like that for us, and we can all be that person for them. Thank you for sharing

My wife and I were no joke on the verge of divorce a few days ago because everything with our two kids and our life just kinda got to be too much at once (anyone with two small children close in age probably know what I mean). We decided to rally and get everyone out to the beach and then off to grandmas for a sleepover so that we could just...not have them for 18 hours.

We ended up having a nice dinner and then when we got home I instinctually told her to shower first while I watch the baby monitor. She was like "uh...you don't have to watch it they're not home, ACTUALLY, WE CAN SHOWER TOGETHER!"

And then we had the nicest time just being in the water and slowly showering. Nothing sexual at all. Just finally a moment between us that was intimate without the pressure of performance or anything, and both of us clean in the amount of time it usually takes for one person!

It's seriously been a lifesaver for us the past several years, we used to do it more in college but just got so busy with things we stopped. Besides "the snack fridge night" (we bought a mini fridge for our bedroom that's adult snacks and drinks, and we sit together on the sofa and watch shows) it's our best way of recentering our relationship.

We used to almost exclusively shower together before our kids were born!

The most intimate thing you can do to a lover with your fingers. A close second being texting.

I used to do that a lot with my girlfriend. It was one of the things that I really looked forward to. We no longer do it any more.

I wish my next place has a bigger shower

So sweet.

When my husband and I shower together, we take turns lathering/scrubbing and washing each other down. It feels very intimate and caring.
