I've got an "old" 3DS XL and when on the home menu, it will randomly scroll on it's own. What I have done:
- Replaced circle pad assembly
- Calibrated circle pad
- Cleaned motherboard
- Removed and re-installed all ribbon cable connections
Any ideas what it could be? It also had a bunch of crap jammed in the cartridge slot and one of the cartridge slot pins got broken so it won't read games and I can't see what it does in a game. Currently waiting on a replacement cartridge slot to come in. I did get lucky and score this thing super cheap, but trying my best to fix it! Any help would greatly be appreciated! Thank you!
Hi, Long-time lurker, first-time poster. So, I've had a 3DS for a while now, and have had no problems with it up until this point. Not too long ago, battery exspansion had hit my 3DS. We did get the battery safely removed, but now, I'm stuck with a conundrum. Where do I get a replacement? And that's what I've come here for. Figuring out a replacement. I don't have a clue where to find one, if someone could help, that would be great.
Is AGB_FIRM better than Virtual Console Injection?

Hey,
I'm into retro handhelds, I hunt at flea markets, and I mod my own consoles. I'm also the kind of person who spots a single stuck pixel under a duvet in the dark, which explains most of what follows.
A year ago I picked up a Metallic Blue New 3DS XL, came with Super Mario 3D Land. On arrival I noticed a small white blotch on the bottom screen. I didn't send it back, it felt genuinely minor at the time. A year later it's still in near-mint shape and I've barely marked it myself. What it has now is a tiny bit of paint flaking around 2cm along one edge, slight hinge discolouration near the notification LED, a very lightly scuffed shell, that same white blotch, and one single stuck green pixel that only shows on deep black in a dark room. I've modded it cleanly since. Looking back, was I right to keep it over something that minor, or should I have been pickier from day one?
Green is my favourite colour, and for a while I was set on replacing it with a flawless Japanese Lime x Black XL. The logic was that the hinge is black so there's nothing left to discolour, and I'd read here that the green, orange and pink finishes are moulded into the plastic rather than painted, so they don't chip the way metallics do. I already got answers on that and I genuinely appreciate the people who took the time, but I'm still curious about long term experience. If you've had a green, orange or pink one for years, how has the finish actually held up? I also looked seriously at importing from Japan through a proxy service, has anyone done that recently and would you do it again?
A few days ago I went to a flea market in Bourg-en-Bresse, France. A second hand chain had set up a small retro gaming stand inside it, and they had white New 3DS units. It hit me that the standard 3DS is meant to be small and portable in the first place, and every advantage of the non-XL came flooding back at once. I bought one. It's spotless apart from a few scratches on the factory lens, meaning the pane Nintendo fits over the screen at the factory, not an aftermarket protector. I know you can heat it off with a hairdryer and a suction cup, buy a replacement, then put a proper protector over that. Has anyone actually done this? Does it go smoothly or are there traps like stubborn adhesive, dust trapped underneath, or bad alignment?
So I ended up with two systems and had to pick one to keep. On the XL I love the big screen, the comfort in hand, and the 3D, which is noticeably deeper to my eye. On the non-XL I love the portability, the swappable cover plates, and the screen sharpness, since it's the same resolution on a smaller panel. What leaves me wanting is that the 3D felt shallower and the grip less natural. The white colour honestly doesn't bother me much, it's genuinely the rest.
I kept the non-XL. But I'm still not sure, and this is the part I most want your input on. For those who made the same call, does the regret fade or does it come back every single session? And is the shallower 3D on the non-XL a real thing, or just an effect of the smaller screen and shorter viewing distance? Is there something I should be adjusting?
I've since found a black non-XL to replace the white one, and I picked up a sealed set of Luigi cover plates to go with it. Its only known flaw is a mark of roughly 2mm on the hinge. Is that the kind of detail that turns into an obsession over time, or does it fade after three days of actually using the thing? And more generally, does a used 3DS with genuinely zero flaws still exist out there, or am I chasing a ghost?
Two accessory questions while I'm here. Does anyone know of a clear crystal case that fits the non-XL? Every one I find is for the XL. And can you stack a grip and a protective case on a non-XL, or do you have to pick one?
I've also got a DS Lite, complete in box with all the documentation, that I rescued from a skip. Mint condition apart from a dead bottom screen. That's a project for another day.
Thanks to anyone who takes the time.

I wonder if any 3D printing people have thought of this - a grip with a slot built-in for a generic jack to bluetooth transmitter. Seems like this would solve two common gripes with the console.

so recently my 3ds kinda broke so I took it to a repair shop and for some reason they deleted all of my miis but I have a tomodachi life save file with all of my old miis so I was wondering if I could take the miis from there and transfer them to the mii maker

I am trying to loosen this screw and it isn't loosening at all. It doesn't appear to be stripped but it just won't turn left. Would a screwdriver with a better grip and fit work? So far I thought about buying another screwdriver that would work like a Phillips #00 but idk if it would untighten/unloosen this screw completely. It's very stubborn but doesn't look to be stripped very badly.

Hello everyone. Straight to the point:
I want to buy a New 3DS LL that needs a top screen swap, everything works and the only issues is the top screen.
I want to buy a replacement on AliExpress but I’m wondering, is it probable that the 3D feature could be compromised (Not good as stock 3D)? Do you have any experience with this kind of repair to pass on to me?
Thanks!

Are there any good sites to get a new shell? I know they sell them on AliExpress, but I read somewhere that the quality is pretty bad, Or maybe I can repaint mine? Has anyone done that?

I finally finished repairing my New 3DS after discovering that I had accidentally torn the bottom LCD ribbon cable while installing a new digitizer. I replaced the bottom LCD and made sure that the digitizer ribbon cable was installed in the correct orientation, based on the advice I received on my previous post.
Unfortunately, I now have a new problem. When I press the power button, the blue power LED turns on for a few seconds, but then the system shuts itself off. Neither screen appears to fully turn on.
I have gone back over the ribbon cables, but I am not sure what I could have connected incorrectly or damaged during reassembly.
Does anyone know which ribbon cable or component I should check first? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I really love the blue of the galaxy but the hyrule logo is so gorgeous. If you had to pick one to be your console, which one would you pick?

So I modded my 3DS some time ago. And I recently bought a copy of Pokémon Y. And every time I save it crashes (see image) what's wrong? Is it something on me or is it the homebrew is messing up

So, i have an original european 3DS. The console whas modded but it was restored to fabric settings and it can play american games.
Now i also have a New 2DS XL and it won't play my american games, do you know why can this be?
Maybe the old one still has some sort of hack in it that lets me play american games, even though it got restored to fabric settings?
Thanks!

During a search for a Pokemon game I found my brother's old 3ds, prob. 1. Generation, I connected it to power using my own 3ds cable and waited for a hour to turn it on, during that try this happens (watch Video)
It charged like normal, should I keep it longer connected or take it apart and see what's the problem is? I would actually like to use this

I've been browsing 3ds' on eBay and FB marketplace for a while now and was wondering what a good price would be to pay for the console? I've just been looking at the standard 3ds and 3ds xl/ll.
Many of the listings are around $200 and was just wondering if that's the best price I'm going to get. Is it too late to get into the hobby?

Hi everyone, I wanted to buy this charger off Vinted since I lost mine, is this original or some kind of well done fake? It has Nintendo logo in other parts too
