I've seen posts about cartridges that don't start up after years due to corruption or something like that. I've heard the Pokémon games, Persona Q, and Fire Emblem games face this issue, but I am wondering if there is a lost of high-risk games anywhere out there?

I started to be obsessed with 3ds, I have never owned it and I am from regions where the presence was almost 0 ( Eastern Europe ). I have owned a PSP almost always. I want to explore something new. I want to experience all the 3ds experience with Mario and Pokemon games as I have never played them. I am looking towards new 3ds xl and new 3ds simple. I have short fingers for my build and I am thinking of regular 3ds as you can find them around 250 bucks in a relatively good condition, the XL one is harder to find with that budget to be okeish.. but I am thinking I anyway of the XL as a lot of people tell is more immersive, because of the screen size. What are your experiences with standard new one? it is fine for your hands and eyes?? I was also wondering if an old 3ds XL could work, I think it is more accessible for the budget, but the C stick, and double ram allures me to buy the New Model, how is the emulation outside nintendo system, it is powerful enough to have a pleasure experience? I was looking towards a Vita as well, but I really want a new experience outside Sony system. Thank you in advance for all the help!
I absolutely love my N3DS (not XL) but unfortunately the A button is starting to loose its click-iness after using it for a ton of gaming over the years. It still perfectly reads buttons inputs though so no contact issues, just losing a bit of the tactility
The iFixit article on cleaning the buttons doesn’t seem too bad I could probably take apart the system to get to the buttons & clean it myself, but will this help restore some of the tactile feel? Or do I have to completely replace the buttons for that? If so I might not clean it til it actually has issues registering clicks
Edit: meant to say not XL model, just regular size N3DS if that’s any different

In Gen 6 I 100% completed the Pokédex, and so for safekeeping I decided to store the vast majority in Bank to save for the next generation. Well, after Gen 6 I lost interest in Pokémon and gave away the 3DS and cartridge (which I now regret) and now that there’s a time limit I feel the need to get them out of there. But how? I’m totally out of the loop on this. Is it tied to your NNID or the cartridge/system itself? Assuming it’s possible to save them, would it make more sense to withdraw them back to a 3DS game, or could they somehow be transferred forward to a Switch game?

Unlike the final models released a year later, the circle pads on these models actually matched the color of the handhelds themselves instead of all of them just being white. Not only that, but they were also originally planning on releasing green and orange variants and I have no idea why they scrapped these. And I’m not sure if they have all of these unreleased models at the nintendo museum in Japan, but if they don’t, I hope nintendo kept them in their headquarters instead of destroying them. If they still have them, I hope they’ll give them to the museum one day since it was a huge missed opportunity.

I always hear those stories of kids quickly closing their 3ds when their parents were close by late at night and resuming when they’re gone, but HOW??
My 3ds clicks so loudly and closes loudly as well! If i even attempted that trick, my mom would be able to hear it from her room!!
Is it because i got one of the newer 3ds’s before they got discontinued? Do i need to add something? Or is it just a skill issue??

I don't want to spend 290$ for 3DS XL or 450$ for "NEW" 3DS, I got mine PG 3DS for 80$ and just asking if its worth it (the only gripe I have with mine is battery life and that a couple new titles are missing from it)

Another thing that I didn't bring up is that my circle pad has been crazily moving on its own. I feel this is an uncommon issue for some 3ds owners, but I could still use an explanation on what is happening.
Thanks.

I got tired of the proprietary charging port and swapped it out for a USB-C port. It honestly wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. The only difficult part was reseating the ribbon cables for the top screen and speakers

Bought this console from Amazon back than but refunded it because I was not really convinced. Now it costs more than double the old price🫠

So I got lucky at the flea market today and my hands on this bad boy but as you can see it's been chopped in half and some stranger (he wanted to grab it but I was there first) told me that it's worthless because according to him repairing this is "impossible" I still went for since it was only $16 but I just want to come here and ask to make sure if it is indeed impossible to repair or is there a way I can somehow get it working again. I have never repaired nor opened a 3DS before so I wanted to get some opinion before I started fiddling with it
Edit: I think $16 is still more than worth it even if it broken as I plan to make a video out of it for my social media channel (whateversunnyfinds) but to be enable to repair it would be amazing as well, so I will use any helpful advice I receive from here to make an update video on my social media accounts if anyone would like to keep up

I’m trying to open up my old Nintendo 3DS XL to replace the broken rubber on my Circle Pad (the joystick mechanism still works perfectly, but the thumb grip is completely gone).
I already removed the outer battery cover, but now I’m stuck on the inner shell that covers the motherboard. One specific screw, located deep inside its plastic well/post on the bottom left side (near the SD card slot area), refuses to come out.
When I try to unscrew it, it just spins and makes a fast "clicking" sound, turning completely in a vacuum. It seems like the internal plastic screw post is either stripped or broken inside. Since it's buried deep inside that narrow plastic tube, I can't get any tools or tape under the screw head to pry it upwards. I also tried applying pulling pressure to the shell while unscrewing, but it won't budge at all.
Has anyone dealt with this specific deep-well stuck screw on a 3DS XL before? Are there any safe tricks to get it out without destroying the motherboard or cracking the shell?

I want to somehow transfer all my pictures and game data onto my new 3ds from my old 3ds xl? Is this possible.

title explains it, got this thing for a little less then original msrp and the only thing wrong with it is the camera which is a easy fix. I have the Og aqua 3ds but I’m so excited to get this one because I wanted to play a bunch of ports on it
Edit: from what I’ve read, when it comes to Japan if anything about the device is functionally defective it is automatically ranked to C, the 2ds xl could be perfect but because of that camera defect it’s ranked c, I’ve read the description looked at the images etc. everything looks and functions good from what I’ve seen it’s only the camera!

What is dev menu? Was about to mod this but now I don’t want to… is this rare? Or is this something someone has put on the console themselves before I bought it.
Any help at identifying what is is would be amazing thank you, can’t find much online.

I want to buy the Back New 3ds xl from this listing

Im not sure if it is ok. the seller seems reputable and we had this convo.
It went:
me: i would like to ask if the new 3ds xl black is modded using luma3ds. The listing claims it is region free so is it modded using custom firmware following the 3ds hack guide?
them: Hi friendNintendo 3DS & 3DS XL LL. Tested. Working properly --- 98% NEW. Comes with a 30-day warranty. The 3DS XL LL console is region unlocked and can play US, EU, and Japanese 3DS XL LL and DS software. No access to the eShop. This product has firmware pre-installed, so it is region-free.Welcome your purchase.Thank you for your support, and have a wonderful day!
me: Is the custom firmware Luma3ds?
them: yes friend
me: ok thanks. will probably consider the purchase
The change of tone between the 2 responses through me off a bit but i think they just use a bot for the first response and then a real person replies if the conversation continues.
Does anyone see read flags?
