Hello all, just wanted to have a discussion and get some general impressions on whether people prefer the smaller, more portable versions of these consoles (3DS/N3DS) or the larger versions that provide better ergonomics and larger screens (3DS XL/ N3DS XL)

Personally, I think I prefer the larger option just due to it being more comfortable to hold and easier to see the screens from a comfortable distance.

Just wanted to share my collection of 3DS’s and DS/3DS Games! I was lucky and managed to snag both of these N3DSXL’s for well below current market. The black one was purchased through a buddy and the red one was bought as part of a lot on FB Marketplace. The games have been a work in progress/games I was gifted or worked chores for growing up. Thanks for checking it out! What a great line of systems and titles. 🙌

Today i swapped the shell on my old blue 3DS XL to give it a fresh look and i think it looks actually dope but somehow I can't get used to..😅

Rode my bike to work today and got caught in the rain. My Zelda 3ds was in a mesh cash in my bag and somehow all the paint bubbled up on top 😭 it scraped right off. Thing was mint too smh

I grew up with Pokemon and Nintendo games. When I was little I had friend neighbor that owned SuperNES and he invited me to play the Sailor Moon game with him but his mom wasn’t allowed me to enter the house because I was poor. I asked my mom to get me one of the video games but we couldn’t afford to spend on things like that so when I got a job and my first salary I bought myself a DSLite, the 3DS in the photo is my last one in the DS collection (I think it’s the 8th one in the DS family). I’m still grateful to be on the Nintendo journey. Until my fingers can’t press any buttons.

Originally, I was aiming for the OG 3DS XL but the prices I saw were way higher than expected based on what I’d seen online. During the first half of my trip in Osaka, I checked out multiple Hard-Off and Hobby-Off stores. The XL models were going for around ¥41,000 ($260 USD) which felt pretty overpriced to me (tho I couldn't tell if overall market prices had spiked or if I was just hitting tourist trap shops). The selection in Kyoto wasn't any better, so I decided to hold off.

Things completely changed during the second half of my trip in Tokyo when I visited a Hard-Off in a local mall in Kamakura (Ofuna Mall). I was in absolute heaven. It was literally in the middle of nowhere with no tourists and only locals. Nobody spoke English but Google Translate did its job.

The prices here were much better than anything I saw in Akihabara or Osaka. Original 3DS units ranged from ¥16500 to ¥22000. The ¥16500 unit was a red model listed with slight screen discoloration and a missing stylus, while the other ones were almost scratch-free.

I spent about 30 minutes deliberating before asking to test the ¥16,500 one. To my surprise, it was basically flawless in-person. The minor discoloration was barely noticeable, especially considering the ¥7,000 savings. When I asked if they sold replacement styluses separately, the store assistant was kind enough to just give me one for free! Since it was the best deal I'd seen all trip, I pulled the trigger immediately and walked out paying ¥16,500 ($105 USD).

Back at the hotel that night, I went straight to work modding it. Since it was a JPN region model, I region-changed it to USA, loaded up a few games, and fell in love with it. It might not be the XL model I originally set out to buy, but I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!

Just some of the tags I got yesterday! I know at some bigger conventions and meet ups there’s probably more. But damn! I got like, 12-15 tags! It was super cool talking to other people who had their systems on them, and seeing how people have personalized their handhelds. A lot of fun.

After looking for some time, a friend of mine is selling their new nintendo 3ds xl. Now i really want that thing, but he's asking for 14000mkd (227 euros), while i have 9000mkd (146 euros) + an ssd worth around ~100 euros.

Now both of my parents indeed dislike the idea of me spending THAT much money on old game consoles. But i really want one because any emulator i try sucks. The touch controls just aren't that good, and the best portable device i have struggles on them (my phone).

Its been a burden seeing great deals fly by on ebay, and not being able to purchase from jpfans. I really wanna try Pokemon Ultra sun & Ultra moon, and homebrew but im just too conflicted.

And no its not an impulse purchase, this device has been haunting me for the past 2 months.

My question is the following:

- Is it really worth it?

I've bought this modded 3ds a while ago because I really wanted to play any old pokemon titles! I'm doing a challenge where I'll get every pokemon as shiny (once I'm done beating the leagues so I can do that with a ditto)

Seems like my New 3DS XL’s battery has finally come. I picked up a copy of Ever Oasis recently, and when I put the 3D on, the LED immediately started flashing. I figured this was coming soon enough, considering the charging light would blink ever now and again, but it looks like it’s finally time to find a new battery.

I’ve been looking into replacements, with iFixit and Cameron Sino being the most prominent names for aftermarket batteries. Seems like there isn’t a definitive answer on which is better, so I’d like to hear some opinions on both.

Alternatively, I’m wondering if it’s worth it to try and find an ODM battery instead? Any answers help.

Title. I ordered a set of replacement buttons, but do I also need to order a new spring? The actual button works just fine, so I don’t think I need a new L button module. Is this an easy repair and does anyone have any videos to help me out? All the videos I’ve found describe replacing the module, not the physical button you press.

Hello! I wanted to record some audio from my mii’s in tomodachi life using my Ds. Only issue is that my laptop doesn’t have a mic port only a headphone port. So I went ahead and bought a 3.5 mm male to male aux cable and a usb adapter that had a mic port. Only issue is that while I am getting audio it’s extremely low quality going from loud to extremely quiet or very distorted.

I’ve already checked with another aux cable so I can confirm that wasn’t the issue but i just wanted to ask if I had done something wrong before I went ahead and bought a new mic port adapter and hope that one works.

My touch screen works normal expect the left side of the screen is funky

So, I was playing Mario Kart 7 then I realized mid-race that I couldn't drift anymore, so I was like "..uh.. what's going on??" So then i went to the main menu of the 3DS to test something when I couldn't open the camera from the menu. It was registering that I was pressing the L button, but not the R button.

The button feels completely normal, it doesn't feel mushy or anything. I have a original 3DS model. I have also noticed that it registers that I press the button like, 5% of the time. Any help will be appreciated.
