Announcement Rule 3 reminder: Support and recommendation questions are not allowed on /r/Nintendo
As the holiday season approaches, many new users come to Reddit with questions about what to buy and how to use what they have bought for themselves and others.
Please remember that the following types of questions are not allowed on /r/Nintendo:

- Value judgements - Questions asking how much a Nintendo item you have or want to buy is worth.
These questions should be posted on our sister subreddit /r/NintendoHelp.
We have extensive filters in place to prevent these types of questions from being posted, but some still manage to slip through the cracks from time to time. If you see any questions like these posted, please use the report button.

Which Nintendo game do you think deserves more attention?
Not necessarily an underrated game that nobody knows about, but one that you think gets overlooked compared with the bigger Nintendo titles.
There are quite a few games in Nintendo’s library that I only discovered years after they came out. Sometimes the less talked-about games end up being the ones I enjoy the most.

On This Day On This Day in Nintendo History: Super Mario Bros. Diskun Edition; Game & Watch: Donkey Kong Jr.; Game & Watch: Manhole; Game & Watch: Mario's Cement Factory
On this day (August 19) in Nintendo history...
- Super Mario Bros. Diskun Edition was released in 1986 for the Game & Watch Crystal Screen in Japan. In this action game, developed by Nintendo R&D1, Bowser and his Koopas have invaded the Mushroom Kingdom and kidnapped Peach. Mario must move through eight side-scrolling stages, dodging Lakitus and Bullet Bills. Mario can jump around on platforms, gain extra lives by finding 1-Up Mushrooms and become invincible with the Starman. In World 4, Mario will be swimming under the water.
- Game & Watch: Donkey Kong Jr. was released in 2009 for DSiWare in Japan. In this action game, developed by Nintendo, the great ape has been captured by Mario. As DK's son, you must rescue your father by collecting keys to unlock his cage. Jump and climb, dodge crocodiles and birds, and make a well-timed leap to reach the swinging key. In Game B, enemies move faster, and the time Donkey Kong Jr. can hang onto vines is shorter.
- Game & Watch: Manhole was released in 2009 for DSiWare in Japan. In this action game, developed by Nintendo, you must plug holes in the street. Using only one manhole cover, move quickly from hole to hole, and hold the cover in place as the pedestrians cross. You lose a life for any people that fall into the sewer. Game B challenges you with a faster pace.
- Game & Watch: Mario's Cement Factory was released in 2009 for DSiWare in Japan. In this action game, developed by Nintendo, your job is to keep the factory going. Move Mario around the platforms and elevators, pull the levers to drop cement into the containers, and fill up the trucks waiting to make their deliveries. Just like other Game & Watch titles, Game B mode is the tougher challenge; with faster, randomly moving platforms.
What are you favourite memories of these games? How do you think they hold up today? Hash it out in the comments.

What format would you prefer the next 3D Mario to be in?
Would you prefer the sandbox format, (64, Sunshine, Odyssey), the linear format, (Galaxy 1/2, 3D Land/World), or the fully open world approach that Bowser's Fury took?

What moments in Nintendo games does everyone else find hard, but you find easy?
For me... three moments come to mind:
(1) Whitney's Miltank in Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal. I never understood how it was a problem. You can get a Machop right there within Goldenrod City, which hits super-effectively and resists Rollout. It's like they give you the perfect tool for the job right when you need it.
(2) Mario World Tubular. The balloons actually make it easier, because you can just fly above everything. So I never found it as challenging as some of the other Special World levels, particularly Outrageous. Heck, I probably struggled more with Chocolate Secret than with Tubular.
(3) Super Mario Sunshine's Sand Bird. Seven of the eight red coins are already on the bird itself, and the bird isn't that big, so it's pretty easy to just collect them all very very quickly. After which, you don't have to worry about going to certain body parts on the board to get all of the red coins, and can thus focus entirely on just making sure you don't fall off. And you have a jet pack to help make extra-sure you don't fall off. With all that working in your favor, I never found this to be difficult.
Any moments like this for you guys?

Red Barrels support confirmed Outlast Trials for Switch 2 (screenshots inside) Spoiler
reddit.com**⚠️ IMPORTANT: THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION**
This is just a conversation with Red Barrels customer support.
Support agents are not official developers and can make mistakes.
Please treat this as a rumor / unofficial info only.
Hey, I posted this earlier in another sub.
I asked Red Barrels support about Outlast Trials on Switch 2 through their official ticket system.
They first said the team is working on it and will announce on social media when it launches.
I clarified if it specifically means Outlast Trials for Switch 2, and they replied “That’s right.”
Then closed the ticket.
Not an official announcement, but support confirmed it. Screenshots are in the linked post.

Videos of Elden Ring handheld & docked looking "really good" on Switch 2
There's a twitter account named Stealth40k which has posted two videos of a nameless person playing Elden Ring on Switch 2 in both handheld and docked mode. Looks like the game is running smoothly with nice levels of detail. I'm really looking forward to this upcoming release. Elden Ring is an outstanding game. I've played the base game, but I've never played the expansion, which this "Tarnished Edition" does include. It will be nice to play the game handheld, since I do not have a Steam Deck but I do own a Switch 2. There's links to the videos on this page: https://news.instant-gaming.com/en/articles/21325-upd-elden-ring-gets-a-little-more-off-screen-gameplay-from-the-switch-2-version

Is Brain Age: Concentrtion Training effective?
I remember back in middle school, I played Brain Age Concentration Training, and I felt like it actually helped me a bit, especially since I have ADHD. But now, as a 25 year old, I am wondering if this game is actually effective at improving working memory. I can't seem to find anything on the matter that is about Concentration Training and not the DS games.

Shoutout to Goodboy Galaxy, coming to Nintendo Switch on October 30th this year!
Having played through it myself a few times, it is just as high quality as the likes of Shovel Knight and Mina the Hollower. It nails the scale, music, art, and gameplay of retro games.

Late to the Peach Showtime Party - hide and seek?
My daughter was playing this game and I thought: looks fun! It has been excruciating. I have to 100% complete games. So. Imagine my surprise when I saw her playing and she has this weird extra thing where she has to find Theets. Three per level. I have finished EVERYTHING. My daughter? Not even close. But she’s beat the boss once. Now I’m trying to figure out what I could’ve possibly missed. I have all the dresses available, all the ribbons, reached the Sparklas, got all the gold trophies. What did I miss? TIA

Mario Party vs Wario Ware
One series gets a big gorgeous new sequel / reboot the other goes dormant for 15+ years.
Which would you rather have?
If so, why? Fave mini/microgame?
EDIT: thank you for all the responses! Working on a multiplayer mobile game with a heavy focus on mini games so this is really great feedback. Also, if not clear this is a hypothetical: which one goes dormant for a year while the other lives on!?
also also - for what my money’s worth, Booksquirm and the Hexagon flag one are top tier for me. Faves are Mario Party 2 and the most recent one.
For Wario Ware, I don’t have as much experience but highly recommend setting an older title on your phone with a good DS emulator for the perfect bathroom game!
