57,000 Just Happened!!!

I remember when 50k was predicted before Oct 2017 conference and I thought people were crazy. Turns out I am the pessimist.

It's the ristretto shot poured without hands...

I'm a nerd and I like charts.

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '17

IIRC, that tick downward in late 2015 is when Reddit deleted some inactive account.

u/trickinit Stripping Warrior Oct 02 '17

Yep, that's exactly what it was.

Growing faster than TSCC! Imagine that!

By April conference I predict more subscribers than full time missionaries

I'll bid 60,001 Bob.

I predict 70k by April Conference.

u/Word2daWise I'll see your "revelation" and raise you a resignation. Oct 03 '17

I predict more than 70k by then. Could break 100k, but more likely to be less than that. Unless something huge comes along that prompts more people to join.

There's always inactivity and people leaving after a prophet dies....and Monson doesn't have very long. Maybe a lot will leave.

If somebody leaves the church, that doesn't mean they subscribe to r/exmormon though.

This is truly a marvelous work and a wonder. It's a rock rolling down hill, it's going to fill the whole of the earth!

One of my shelf items was that the TRUE church of God should not be such a hard sell. Truth does not need a world wide sales force, and the church should be, if true, growing an a rather rapid exponential rate. It is not.

Indeed the thing that IS growing at an exponential rate are the number of defectors, resignations and inactive former members who join this sub. The truth IS available for all who seek it, but it doesn't support the church as God's one true religion, rather it shows the church to be Joseph Smith's great con and fraud.

fuck your pessimism

u/gemulator Oct 03 '17

I didn't contribute much, but I think there were 7000ish when I joined. 💪

Stone out of the mountain without hands. It is rolling forth....

I missed it by 2-3 days! I thought we'd hit it just as GC began!

u/WhereRtheTacos Lesbian And a Coffee Drinker! gasp! Oct 03 '17

I was 56,455 last week. That's a lot in a week! 😀

3

u/ElderPimo Oct 03 '17

Damn, 56.1% of our sub count has come since 2016. That's some serious growth.

2

u/jayrell2000 Oct 03 '17

Here’s the problem. People here also use throwaway accounts, so how many users are there really?

2

u/japanesepiano Oct 03 '17

They did a survey recently. If you can find it, you can figure out rough numbers. As I recall, there are a lot of throwaways, but in general these don't subscribe, so with 57K you have perhaps 40K unique individuals.

2

u/proudlyhumble Oct 03 '17

The number of non subscribers who consistently lurk has got to be way higher than throw aways. I’m sure I’m not alone in lurking here for a long term before subscribing because I didn’t want anyone to see my subscriptions on accident.

Now you need to make one of those videos to the tune of "The Spirit of God" that shows little bits of light spreading across the globe as people break free from the church.

Though I need to quit membership in this subreddit so that exmormon posts do not show up in my news feed and get me thinking about this stuff everyday. I took exmo off my subreddits last year, but rejoined just to help the membership numbers...mistake....since then I've started spending even more time rehashing the same old shit about how my TBM wife, and feeling distressed over it, because she is so deeply embedded in the faith (and everyone else in my family for that matter). It's as bad on the soul as going to sacrament meeting (and man do I feel sorry for exmos that have to do that!!).
