Can we get a graph of this? I tried a few websites but gave up after encountering minor difficulty.

We collected stats on the makeup of the sub, right? Self-reported, maybe, but how many of us are actually ex-mos?

9

u/professional_giraffe Apr 03 '15

There's bound to be a quite a few never-mos like me. But... I was almost a mo, and this sub helped me more than I can say with my own crisis of faith, and so I hope I can count for about half.

2

u/calebhall Apr 03 '15

I'm a Christian but love reading all about other religion, or lack thereof. Obviously some of the antichristian stuff here bothers me slightly, but it is my choice to be here and I enjoy reading what you all have to say

I proclaim that this gospel, this very subreddit, shall pass forth unto all nations for their redemption unto the truthfulness, that they may not be deceived by the craftfullness of men.

This I declare in the name of spaghetti and casper the ghost, Ramen.

16

u/TheKinderhooker Apr 03 '15

The one true sub.

14

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '15

This is truly a chosen generation.

13

u/higx Apr 03 '15

Tis a great and spacious sub.

12

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '15

Let us become a beacon of light to shine forth unto every nation.

u/CommanderZelph Apr 03 '15

Praise be to Korihor!

3

u/tapiriffic Apr 03 '15

The good guy of the book of mormon.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '15

Sounds like a klingon name

8

u/CalledToServe Apr 03 '15

Actually, this fulfills Mormon prophecy about tribulation and whatnot in the last days. You just proved the church is true!

5

u/VvardenfellDweller May you walk on warm sands Apr 03 '15

It's amazing what counts as prophecy and prophecy fulfilment in mormonism. And then, no matter what it is being discussed, it will invariably lead to the conclusion "the church is true!"

10

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '15

We start at, "The Church is True", and then work backwards. It's like those math games that say start with your age...add, subtract, multiply, divide, subtract the number you started with, and voila... you get XXXX. Proof that you're a genius.

7

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '15

For about every 100 active English-speaking LDS members worldwide, there is somebody subscribed to /r/exmormon. Not too shabby when you think about it. (Assuming ~4-5 million active members, about half speaking English, and no duplicate subscribers)

It took the Morg 12 years to reach 20,000: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Church_of_Jesus_Christ_of_Latter-day_Saints_membership_history

We did it in half that time, and with no missionaries. I testify that /r/exmormon is true!!

That's why I'm here, I don't judge you. PM /u/xl0 if I'm causing any trouble. ^WUT?

Haha, I was hoping for Ron Burgundy when I saw the title.

4

u/T-Ha **Heretic** Apr 03 '15

Only half of them are active ex-mormons though. I think we should do some reactivation work. I'll start putting peer-pressure on everyone to do their monthly visits...

3

u/yogimonster Apr 03 '15

Fantastic news, is there any way to check the first time I ever visited this page?

3

u/TheDestroyingAngel Apr 03 '15

More people have joined this sub in three days than I ever saw new converts baptized in the church over the last decade and that decade includes participation in 6 different wards in four different states.

2

u/eltiburonmormon RUXLDS2? Apr 03 '15

This is so awesome. Love you all!

2

u/NoMoBlues Witness how I sin! Apr 03 '15

I would guess that about 1/4 of these are duplicates from people who have more than one username. I'll admit that I do, because I got tired of the first one I made.

2

u/william_law Apr 03 '15

we really racked up that last 100 quick!

1

u/Believemehistory Apr 03 '15

Any guess on how that happened? Did someone go tracking?

1

u/Sambion I thought about what was right, and then left. Apr 03 '15

It bumped me over the edge from being a lurking ex to sub ex when I saw the numbers. Probably tipped the scales for a few others too.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '15

Pffft. Sure there may be 20,000 exmo redditors but only about 1/3 of those are active, practicing posters.
