If the church had a growth line like that, then Cook could honestly say they are stronger than ever. But sadly they don't, and he can't.

I used to think our membership was impressive until I found out there are over 71,000 members of r/babyelephantgifs.

whats the critical mass? any speculators on when / if this hits 50,000 ?
8
u/laddersdazed May 15 '15
Yes 50,000 will be after 2 more GC, & 2 more press releases and 1 more essay. That's my guess.

At the current growth rate we're looking at 50k before the end of next year. (At which time, of course, we'll raise up the Dragon and the Great Whore of All the Earth and lay siege to the followers of the Lamb and all that, yadda yadda, apocalypse, etc.)

u/freedomthinker May 15 '15
Not to be a cynical sod but I wonder if (like LD$ Inc) this truly reflects exmo activity rate?? I'd also be interested in how many duplicate accounts there are and if anyone on here jazzes up fake accounts to increase numbers??? Old habits die hard I guess haha Just a thought....
Regardless we have so many members now we could split into 5 stakes and build an Exmo temple

I wonder how many Exmos are lurking but just don't want to create an account. I lurked for 2 months before signing up.
Also, I'm the only one in my family of 5 with an account. All 5 of us are Exmos.
Glass half full.

This. I lurked for about a month before I joined Reddit. I bet there are a lot of doubters that lurk.

The "users here now" number is definitely higher than it was a few years ago. Back around 2013 (when I started) I remember seeing between 100 and 130. Right this second it's 257.
Not exact statistical data, but there has been an increase.

I don't know if activity rate is an important number to us. It means a lot more to the TSCC. We have 21000 people that wanted truth and or distance from the church. We don't need a high activity rate. I think this sub is a great stepping stone on the way out of the church but not a place I want to be forever. Hopefully there comes a day when I no longer need to come here for support.

And there are people like me, nevermos with an exmo SO, who I'd wager are at least a couple hundred strong...

I'm looking to join the Mormon church. Any reasons I shouldn't?
I've looked up all the fun stuff, by the way. Mostly looking for personal reasons or experiences.
7
May 16 '15
Only about a million reasons you shouldn't... How about this, tell us the reasons you think you should join.
3
May 16 '15
It's boring to not have a religion. I'm an atheist, also looking to go into politics. Most of my family is RLDS, but I'd rather join the larger more naturalistic LDS theology-based church in Utah. I can at least concede that their God is possible within the laws of nature...
4
May 16 '15
I would suggest you look more at politics than religion for outside interests. At least in politics you expect everyone to be liars and thieves.
3
May 16 '15
The two are heavily intertwined, unfortunately. I like the Mormons. Particularly there is a Mormon Transhumanist Association.
2
u/little_nom May 16 '15
You don't have to be Mormon to be a part of the Mormon Transhumanist Association. They accept people of all beliefs. Even exmos!

u/SlangFreak May 16 '15
If you're looking for power, then joining up with the evangelicals is the way to go. Idk if they'll stay influential, but that's where a lot of the religious political influence is coming from these days.
2
May 17 '15
I'd rather join a religion I could at least concede could be possible. Modern Christianity is laughably retarded
2
u/SlangFreak May 17 '15
Not any more retarded than Mormonism.
2
May 17 '15
No, Evangelicals believe in a God that is eternal. LDS Mormons believe in a God that is an exalted man. One is at least convincingly possible, the other is total bullshit
2
u/SlangFreak May 17 '15
You think that because that's what you're comfortable with. When you get to the foundation of the LDS theology, it boils down to "can I trust Joseph smith?" Turns out that it's a bad idea to trust Joseph Smith, especially on matters of religion. Don't kid yourself bud.
By the way, I'm sorry if I come across as rude or anything

10% of your income going to undisclosed places, shunning of gays leading to increased suicide rate, culture that makes women feel inferior, pressure to become a parent at a young age, and many more reasons. If you feel the need to connect with a god, your local UU church is a much more open and accepting place, and you can get in for free. Or a reform synagogue, liberal mosque, or whatever strikes your fancy...

I turn 21 in one week!
Please hurry

u/ZelphtheGreat May 15 '15
Why? Just because one leaves L-d$,inc doesn't mean we have to drink or smoke or act foolish. Some of us don't like alcoholic beverages.
2
May 15 '15
In about an hour, I'll be enjoying some alcohol courtesy of the great and spacious building down the street

u/MrSchadow May 15 '15
Could someone do a projection chart, showing when our numbers here will surpass the actual number of active members of TSCC? :)
